  1. About directions, I've learned the hard way that Thai taxi drivers will NEVEr say they don't know where this or that place is. ...

Well they will. You got to do it the right way:

Do not straight enter the taxi.

Do open the front door, stick your head in and ask the driver " Pai --------- mai?"

He will then say yes or no. If the answer is no, it mostly means that he doesn't know

the way. In that case you might offer him to give directions.

  2. Hi!

    I have just done that.

    Aproximatly 10,000 THB

But thats with Air Asia not with the train.

They have two flights daily. You go there with the one in the morning, bring your PP

to the Agent in Georgetown, then you check into your accomodation. Spent the day

    at some restaurants.

The next afternoon, the agent will bring your PP around and you go back to Bkk with

    the flicht in the evening!

Its pretty easy, no need to pay for any tours from Bkk.

  3. ^

    You are very right!

Drug sellers seldom FORCE their customers to use drugs.

If nobody wants to buy them, there would be no dealers.

The DEMAND was there first, the 'retailnetwork' came later.

Parents that bring their children up in a way that let's them

become complete loosers should rather be prosecuted.

Car dealers do not get punished, but people drive themselsves

    to death.

Creditcard salesmen lure peolple into uge debts, making them

slaves similar to drug users, - no action taken here.

  4. Well,

I do not believe that colonization has a considerable impact on language skills.

Why do even poor cambodians speak better english than Thais?

They did not learn it from "well qualified , well paid teachers" but just from watching TV, talking to tourists and so on. Most of them have some knowledge of Thai as well.

Acording to the "colonization theory" they should be speaking french very well.

    Do they?

    No!

    Attidude is all that matters.

Forget about funding, or "qualification" of teachers.

If you want to learn, you will. No matter how "bad" your teacher is. If you want to gain knowledge you will do so. It's a pretty lame excuse to blame the education system, when you are just to lazy.

However, I don't care if they speak english or not. It's up to them.
