Is this the annual salary, or what was earned in the 6 months?

If the latter, then surely this gives an annual salary of £21,200? Which is enough to meet the requirement on it's own.

    Annual salary.

So I'm on a fixed annual salary of £10,600, my wife works in the same business paid hourly and we have all our savings in a stocks and shares ISA.

Based on your replies I think we are ok to combine all 3 with 6 months bank statements from me and my wife and our last 6 months statements for our ISA.

    Thank's for the replies.

  2. Planning ahead a bit here, never a bad idea.

For my wifes FLR application we will be combining incomes with cash savings. I have read all the guidance but still can not decide if we meet the requirement. Any advice appreciated.

Here is a list of how I would like to meet the requirement.

£10,600 from salaried employment - 6 months evidence

£5,400 from non-salaried - employment more than 6 months (hourly pay which varies every month) - 6 or 12 months required???

The remaining £2,600 requirement covered by stocks and shares ISA, FSA regulated UK broker. (more than £22,500 would cover the £2,600 shortfall). I would have 6 months statements from the broker showing the required amount for 6 months prior to application. The official guidance says "In a personal bank account" - but contradicts itself in other parts saying in a stocks and share account is acceptable???

    thank's in advance

It appears that I did send everything to the wrong address. I sent it to Durham, which I think was on the Guidance Notes. I didn't scan anything, I sent everything in the post. I didn't know you could just scan them. The whole process and the way you can't find specific answers to questions anywhere without spending days searching just bores me into oblivion now. That's probably why I ended up posting it all, to just get it out my face ????

They don't make these things clear and users are left to rummage through forums for answers, piss poor system really. I have been watching the current BBC series on immigration and it's a shambles unlikely to improve anytime soon... good luck with your FLR.

I thought I would make double sure by asking for confirmation of the address at VFS Bangkok... gave me the wrong address and were completely unaware of any rule changes that had been in place for over a month!

Why would they go out of their way to make it easy for British pensioners post Brexit over other non EU nationalities?

It seems you have fallen for the Brexiteer myth that we can ditch all the bits of EU membership we don't like, but keep the bits we do!

Why wouldn't they. My family have lived in Spain for 10 years, much of the local economy relies on the British retirees

The joint research by Britain and Spanish statisticians shows there were over twice as many British citizens living in Spain at the time of the EU referendum than there were Spanish citizens resident in Britain.

The special report by the Office for National Statistics and the Instituto Nacional de Estadistica says there were 296,000 British citizens who had been living in Spain for more than 12 months in 2016, while the UK was home to an average of 116,000 Spanish people between 2013 and 2015.

Ditto. My wife had two visit visas, (the first for six, the second that ran consecutively for two years) and her settlement visa with no issues. Fast decisions in two weeks or less in each case. A Schengen to Iceland back in 2016 was completed on the spot. Also no fee.

It's the people who have been refused that shout the loudest and bang on about how poor VFS is.

people with nothing to complain about are unlikely to complain.... but people with a brain are able to look beyond their own experience

The absolute state of the UK visa application system

    "

    Conclusion

It is difficult to know what to do. The prevailing view among immigration lawyers is that our system is going to hell on a handcart. We do know that the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association (ILPA) is on the case and meeting with the Home Office on these issues. Ultimately, though, the over-reliance on commercial partners and flawed IT systems seems to be the problem.

Update: After hours spent on the VFS Global wesbite trying to sign in, I finally managed to access their site to make an appointment for my wife to visit the Bangkok office for her UK visa.

Obviously their systems are very poor as I've read many reviews elsewhere with people having similar issues.

My advice; keep trying and have a few different email addresses to use as that's what seemed to work for me after using my third different email address.

Make sure you complain to vfs and the home office

I do, however, think that the buck stops with the Home Office when it comes to shambolic UK visa/passport renewal procedures/experiences. They are the piper playing the tune. VFS as their agents are merely dancing to said tune.

yes but their sub-contractors are failing too,

"Sopra Steria, a French company that was last year awarded a £91m contract by the Home Office to deliver a “streamlined application process” for people applying for visas or settlement from within the UK, has come under fresh scrutiny after around 100 applicants were told their appointments had been cancelled and could not be immediately rescheduled."

Exactly. Most would be queuing up to give a bad review if they'd had a visa refused even if they forgot something or didn't submitted a visa correctly. And as we all know VFS has no input into the decision making but for many people that would make no difference and they would give a bad review.

Read the reviews, most have had no decision but experience problems with paying, lost documents, system failure, contradictory emails.

Reading is a great way to educate
