Sorry, But I dont bother to read beyond the first page. I came to Thailand in my early twenties. Am now in my early fourties. I have been through a lot of the same. I am planning to leave this year. Much of the same reasons and the visa immigration always changing to the more difficult.
Give up alcohol. Maximum once per week. If that does not work, then quit it. Alcohol will solve no problems. But could make things a lot worse.
The Thais cant change. Because they dont want to change. People who have never been outside their home countries are much like this. They do things their way or cant understand and adapt. You can show them and do things together with them. But they need to be held hand in hand during the process. Fx cleaning your house, doing your garden etc.
No matter where you stay. You need a social network. If you dont have one where you currently live. Consider moving. Even if it is abroad. If you have bad neighbors. Consider moving. Or take up the fight. And then dont forget you are playing on an away field where people might not care if they play dirty. Dont forget our social status is only "farrang". They think in classes. We think in fairness. etc etc.
Your weight you need to fix. I had to use an application calorie counter. Get rid of at least a couple of GFs who over feeded me. Over feeding the partner is normal in Thailand. It is a part of the culture. Where we foreigners eats what gets served. Thais let it stay on the table and eat it slowly. Alcohol is a lot of calories. You need to consume few calories many times a day. Plus you could benefit from joining a gym 3-5 times a week. Joining a gym might open new connections to a social life meeting people who cares about their physical health etc. You winking, smiling and saying hello to the same faces. That helps creating social connections. etc etc.
If you can. Go on a holiday somewhere. It will help clear your mind. Alone if you need.
Learn some more Thai. Learn to communicate in the Thai ways. Pay attention to what is being said in between in the words. Or to what is not being said at all. Like I said. Learn the Thai ways of communication. Not only their vocabulary.
Every body I know who lives in Thailand for some years. They get what I call the "Thai depression". It is normal. Spending time in your home country (or other places in the world) can help cure it. If it doesnt get better. Consider moving away from Thailand.- 3

I went last week to renew my visa. My letter from the bank was too old. It was 12 days old. I live up country. I need a new letter from the bank no older than 7 days old. This letter needs to be issued in Bangkok. I had recent surgery. The waiting time at immigration caused my to hurt in my lower back and legs for the rest of the day. They keep on requesting more and more documents that does not make much sense.
I cant even no longer find the law on the internet about which documents are required for my visa extension anymore. It seems and feels to me like they are trying to kick us out in a nice way. I dont want be here when we will be feeling the hard way. Next year I will buy a 1-way ticket back to my home country.
I have lived half my life in Thailand. I chat-write faster and more correct in Thai than most of the Thai people. It feels very sad for me. It used to be just show our local driving license. And then we get treated equally at national parks etc. Thats how it works anymore. Originally I thought Thailand would become a modern country like Japan. I was so wrong...- 1

Will be nice if they can legally accept big bikes on the super high ways where you pay money to ride.

Seems to me more like the guy wants to save lose face. So just ignore and move on being happy with your life.

The street runs between #4 and the railway. It starts not far from burger king. I consider this street a farrang street with many forreigners going out, while a karaoke bar I would consider Thai area. Maybe it is soi 80 yes.
I have been to HH a couple of times, but never stayed long. Never had any psysical issues for my 15 years in Thailand. I spend most time in the north. For most physical interferences, there have been some hard words in between. It was not the case here. The girls were pretty, not old, good looking, and they looked like they enjoyed being drunk. I was generous to a couple of staff. Other staff or persons did not request anything.
The more I think about it. If somebody had really wanted to hurt me or knock me out, I would have been hit even harder. I am guessing it was a jalous boyfriend or somebody who liked 1 of the staff. From this thread I get the understanding HH is a safe destination. However, I do not feel like going back here anytime soon. Anyways, they did not have reasoning for what happened, so I do hope it does not happen often.
Before returning to my hotel, I did talk a little with the motorbike taxi drivers on the corner of the big road. They did say that sometimes farrang fights with Thai. This case was not a fight. They drove off.

A couple of nights ago, Friday to be precise. I stopped over in Hua Hin for 1 night. Between 11pm to 2am I went out for a couple of beers. I had a good time, no issues with anybody. I happy spend a 4 digit amount of money being generous to selced local people who sat with me. At 2am I decided to walk back to my hotel. I stayed in the farrang area, having been out to a farrang street. Walking down the street a motorbike comes up. 1 person slaps me in my face. I wonder whether he tried to knock me out and failed, or it was a jalous boyfriend. Has Hua Hin become an unsafe holiday destination?

Too long to read through it all, so here are a couple of my thoughts.
* She is in it with her family, and totally agrees with her family.
* The bills from the dog are peanuts. You are expected to offer to pay for these regardless. They are not supposed to ask for your water heart.
* How much rent are you paying?
* The expensive restaurant bills. If they eat for less than 100 baht, and they can get you to pay for 2,000 baht. Then it is a good every day cash for them.
* Move out, start new. That's most easy. If you wanna stay with her regardless, it will be complicated forever. -
Since I am not native English, at first I had trouble fully understanding the word "rebate". You already explained it very good first time. Thank You.

Car is already paid. 100k is cashed. Borrow money with car in gurantere. Old owner or new has to pay when transferring the car, or has to wait for full 5 years since the buy? Thank you.
-
What happens with a car which has got the 100,000 baht discount buying the car as a first time buyer. Who has to pay this? The original buyer or the new owner?
Reason I am asking, somebody wants to borrow money in a car. If the loan is not paid with in 6 month, I can take the car.
-
Any advice on what kind of additional documents would be good submit?
-
If driving car, probably you prefer road #1 and two lane, so you can over take slower traffic.
If on a motorbike for sure road #11 is better, as you can over take anyways, and the road is newer renovated and in a lot better condition. Phitsanulok and hotel sri song kwae. It is right next to the big temple, bridge, super highway. -
Sounds like the 24 hour reporting, that needs to be done with in 24 hours of moving into a new location. Not considering holidays of course. Nice to hear there is no fine for being late 90 days. The 90 day report should be nice, quick and smooth. The reporting of a new address requires the photo copy of tabian ban. I always mention the paper work needed when doing a new contract, as it is easier for them to understand paper work needed before they get the first money.

Sounds to me like the wifi equipment is old. Getting your own connection should get you a new line, modem, router etc.
If you worry about others using the wifi, I think not. A few users should not eat that much. Resetting once per month or if you want as often as once per week should do it. Also, you can instruct the staff to enter the password, rather than showing it on a paper. I really think the reason is an other than what you think. Once I had many problems with my internet. Since I had 2 internet connection I changed which one was the main connection. So the one that had problems, I simply changed the subscription to the cheapest. After that I did not have any problems like that ever. -
Dehydration causes 90% of all migraine.
Coffeeine and/or alcohol dehydrates the body.
You said you tried to give up coffee. What ever you feel is temporary and probably worth to do it. If the side effects from quitting coffee are bad, then try some medical temporary solution. Be sure you google the medication and side effects before you take the medicin. Even a small pharmacy should be able to give you some medicin. -
That what I said, to over which we got in a little fight and I was told This is Thailand, you don't understand...
Any particular reasons why not to? She might listen to a sound advise instead of just telling her what to do.
Remember OP does not question what is the right thing to do, but rather asks advice how to convince his wife with the right thing to do.
If she is this dishonest, I would think it is the sign of a bad person. Be mindful, how she might treat you in the future, by being dishonest.
If she does not respect the man is the boss in the home, this is already problematic in Thailand. Ask her what happens if this and this happens? She will have answer ready, but maybe the next day you can ask if the repair price is cheap, you can offer to pay the damages, and then she can be elite as well. I am talking about asking questions with out letting her know you know the answer. Questions like "do the insurance companies share information?" "If we cheat one company, can we make insurance with an other company?" "Can the date be seen on the video and/or police report?". "You can still be an elite if being hit and run?". Now, when the answer is wrong, you don't want to correct her, because she will already thing she is more clever than you, and disagree for that reason. You want to say something like "I am not sure that is how they do, who will be able to answer that question?". When she picks her friend to answer those questions, that is when you need to push for information "higher" places.

Phayao, If you come from CM there is a beautiful view point in the mountains. Many places to stay, drink and eat down by the beautiful lake. There is a temple in the middle of the lake where you can take a boat to. Also you can walk to pub etc. from the lake.
Phrae, Stay in the center of town. The action is on or near the main road (not super high way). "Massage" behind BigC.
Nan, used to have a big hotel in the center of town, not expensive, can not remember the name. There is an area for night life. Some museums. You already had some advice what to do here.

The fine varies depending on the local authorities. Example, 1 year a fine with out helmet was 100 baht in one location, while a similar offense at an other location was 1,000 baht.
I have heard it is possible to show your ticket for a small offense and not to get any other small fines that day. If it is more serious, of course they will charge for all of it.

Buy your wife a romantic trip to somewhere she likes and go there when you arrive. Once the missus sees you are not back on the 28th, she will lose interest. However, be prepared for ignoring her once you return alone, or just hire somebody else temporary to stay with you. Also, it can accidentally happen that your sim card cracks - in which case you would need to buy a new sim card - or wait and order a new in case you had the sim card registered in your name. Also, be aware, that applications such as facebook, line etc. might give away your location. For the future, just hire somebody and tell them it is a temporary job.

People on investments visas have had a difficult time renewing/extending stay on these visas. What should they investment visa holders do if they believe their paper work and everything else correct, but are declined a visa or an entry. In general will there be any how to take the case for higher officials?
-
It will be back.
You had lots of good comments about Non Im. There should be an investment visa thread where whose who has experience with the visa can give some feedback, and the most important threads are linked. I guess if you don't want to listen you can always get your own experiences. The 3m investment visa was introduced after the crack in 1997. Taken out by Thaksin. Got back as 10m while the last general was prime minister. With as popular TE seems, I doubt they want rich people to have an other way to get a visa to Thailand. But yeah, I hope you are right. I also hope that for those who did get the investment visa, and were unable to renew it. For those who want to transfer the money out of Thailand, I hope this happens hassle free.
-
University degree as the westerners understand a university degree or as the standard Thai understanding a university degree. One is difficult to get, while almost all forreigners would have the other version
-
10 mil for an investment visa. It is clearly the best hassle free visa to get
This is not true. Do some searches in here. The investment visa is not with out "zigzag". Renewing the visa the 1st time is the tricky part. By that time you likely already have invested your money for many years.

I hope this could become a sticky post for 2014. I am interested to apply for PRP this year.
1) Does anybody know when it will be pulled out?2) Are applications since 2009 still "pending"?
3) Any news on getting a direct Thai citizenship with out being married?
4) Anybody know where and how to get those tax papers for the last couple of years?
5) It does no longer say permanent residency permit. Is this the right url?
Here are a couple of useful links:
2013 thread
Camretas GuideFor those who argue against PRP, please do so other places and keep this thread for those who is interested in applying

I have been on investment visa for about 10 years. And oh boy I have had my struggles getting my extensions. Had it all been easier over the years. It would have been an attractive offer yes. Dont make the mistake and think it is gonna get easier if you invest (more) in this country.
