  1. People are surprised to learn that about the land of double-digit IQ?

@VBF  You can show people how to do things -- if they bother to turn up to work -- , but you can't do it for them.

The most non-punctual, self-focused, poorly skilled, and immature people I have employed on four continents.  Seriously poor work ethics, no concept of accountability, questionable business ethics and serious honesty issues.

40 years of almost limitless grants, gifts, and donations has been wasted. The last "success" in Cambodia was when the Vietnamese went charging through the place. Ever since it has been a black hole for money as Western governments attempt to cover up what a cluster<deleted> the the place is and what a failure Paris was. All that Paris did was see the Khmer Rouge swap their black pyjamas for Armani suits and a patriarchal dictatorship cemented into place.

These conservation authorities have a page on Facebook. Great to see what they do. Usually they are patroing forests and going after illegal logging, or illegal wildlife trade. Just a few months ago one of these patrol guys was shot and killed by a local illegal logger.

This time they raid this private zoo. Not much info except photos on their page. I hope ppl here refrain from too much negativity ("their license only get suspended for 90 days!") but see whats going on that Thailand makes serious efforts protecting the environment.

Do you have a link please?

  3. Never mind . They won't be around for much longer. They're thieves. They use money for flights booked months in advance to meet their leasing, fuel and overhead costs for flights today. Money for flights booked in advance should be held in trust until the date of the flight. They also were charging ridiculous fees for credit & debit card transactions, depending on where the credit/ debit card was issued, and have been fined for the practice in Malaysia at least twice.

    Absolutely never any customer service.

  4. If you don't do the shut down properly in Cambodia you are subject to fines and penalties. Every business needs to have a physical address so at the very least you end up liable for unpaid withholding tax on rent up to the date the company/ business is cleared by the tax department (an audit) and shut at the MoC. Failure to pay results in prosecution, seizure f bank accounts, and outward travel ban. The fees and processes look very similar, though there is no court filing required in Thailand by the looks.
