Without those stamps Thailand wont allow you back and without getting the visa on arrival Laos wont let you leave anyway.

anything is possible in the land of smiles, Thai border control didnt want to do paper work for my baby daughter and let me take her out for my visa stamp. on the way back in minutes later thai control said nope until a quick phone call and all was well again in the land of smiles.  No stamps from cambodia as well.

I got bitten by dog inside Thai disco pub, went to doctor he asked me my name and address which was Kan guest house, I was travelling so he gave me  medical ID card to get more shots when due, no passport of  drivers license asked for or required .   taadaa.

I thought later why would some think my idea was batty, and I,ve realised that I live in the Bush and gave up the soi,s a loong time ago, not that I saw someone spraying soi,s. . I spoke to the Moo Ban and he said they haven,t sprayed in years as all thought it was poison spray. We live with mozzies and dont have a problem, cover up in the evening and dawn.

Last year a friend of mine drove past a pickup truck with one of those smoke machines and got it full in her face. Red tearing eyes for hours, no energy and feeling sick for a few days.

Malaria hasn't been spotted for a long time here in the north as far as i know.

Yes, too much water will kill you. Walking is bad for your knees. Living causes death. Still i'd rather stay away from exposure to chemicals.

It's good they do something against the dengue, but an option to opt-out would be much appreciated. I'd rather not have strange people driving about 50 meters up to my lawn, park right in front of my house, to direct that exhaust pipe straight at my front door, and start spraying stinking sickening chemicals all over the place.

so you opt out , the mosquitos live and breed and fly off your property and bite someone. will you stand liable for their denque fever? I didnt think so. now if you could train YOUR mosquitoes to stay on your property................! lol

Thanks for all for your comments. This was my first post and I have learned a couple of things from it.

Assuming you're genuine, dont take any of this too seriously : we do get trolled on a regular basis, often by longtimers reinventing themselves under a different board name and having some fun at our expense. Most here would kill to have access to anything resembling 200k baht a month to live on in Thailand - your only enemy will be the nightlife but I expect that's the same in London / Hong Kong / most US cities.

To be honest, I can't think how I'd be able to spend that much, for both me and my wife. When we're in Thailand, even when we're staying in Bangkok, eating out every meal, staying in a hotel (we don't do 5 star, just comfortable), taxis, BTS and metro, shopping etc etc etc, I don't think I get through much more than 40K Baht in a month. And that's in holiday mode, when you spend more freely than when you're resident mode. Ok, we don't do nightlife, but even when I was single and doing that stuff, I don't remember it being that expensive.

200K? I'd have to be buying expensive cars, expensive women and always eating in top restaurants to even approach that sort of expenditure.

So, when WAS the last time you were in Thailand ?? Was it during this century? You have trouble spending 1333 baht a day, for two people, including hotel ...etc... etc ...that is just CRAZY talk!!
