With the AEOI - CRS ( automatic exchange of information banks to country  ) if you are registered  at your bank as a Thai resident  than the Thai fiscal authorities will know your bank statements end of the year .

If you reside  more than 180 days in Thailand I assume you will enter in the taxable regime.

Till now if it was savings it was not taxed .

Will have to understand  what they want to tax and what % ....

Would you like to try again as way off the mark. And CRS is between tax authorities not banks.

  2. It is amazing what a bit of number fiddling can achieve,  Chonburi figures for Saturday, 432 new cases, 2737 medically administered ATK tests failed, but require a PCR test to be official. My ecperience one in 4 cases being reported as it is a minor cold. So real numbers probably about 10,000 for Chon Buri province. Now nationwide they are reporting 12,745 cases, but 126 deaths, a very high comparative deaths number for 12,745 cases. The reported numbers a a joke but a good excuse to drop all covid requirements, masks, liquor trading etc. Why are they not doing this. It rhythms with pants on fire.

  3. I travelled back and forward to Middle East while waiting for new Australian passport as it was still a valid passport.  When I went to collect new passport they cut the name and barcode bit of the bottom of the photo page, very definitely no longer valid, and handed it back to me. Rules seem to vary between countries and possibly even embassies. At the moment it is a nightmare, so give yourself 3 times as long as you think you need.

    Good news.

Given your permission of stay date you appear to have time to renew your pp.

When you go for your appointment, wouldn't hurt to ask about current turn around time.

    They would know.

If all sounds doable go for it.

You can do stamp and visa info transfer at same visit as your next extension.

I will probably just go and do the visa renewal next week, as I will only lose 9 days off the extension, and that clears one problem out of the way. It looks like I need to be heading overseas for work in 5 or 6 weeks anyway.

  5. Well I went back and had another look at the embassy website. I now have a booking for the 9th of May, a reasonable improvement on the 24th. No option I could see to cancel the original appointment though. I made a note in the booking so now we will see if anyone actually reads the notes, I will not be holding my breath based on previous Bangkok embassy experiences.

You seem to have bad information. Made an appointment to renew my passport (Retirement extension coming up). Got an appointment at Aus embassy 3 days forward, had to wait 2 week for the new passport. Just get all your ducks in a line. Only hassle IO at Chain W demanded that I get the bank to print out every page of my savings book before they would transfer data from the old to new passport. Still had 2 months to go before renewal of retirement. Advised the Aus embassy of the "new Rule" hope they will tell you otherwise 2 trips to CW to register the new passport.

You seem to be quoting old information. There are two people here saying about 6 weeks to get an appointment. Tell you what why don't you try and book a new appointment and see what it says. Also people are reporting up to six weeks to get new passport., this is also quoted on the embassy website. I have learned with this embassy do not believe and allow extra otherwise you will be disappointed.

You may have found an ancient page discussing applications for an imaginary Non O-A visa within Thailand (at the old immigration office that predated Chaengwattana). The Non O-A visa application from within Thailand was never available, and the documented requirements were therefore completely irrelevant.

I went back on the Chonburi immigration site where I saw it using my browser history. All the English text is gone and the website has been updated all in Thai irrelevant of language settings. Looks like I was unlucky enough to visit while it was a work in progress and directed to incorrect information, which has now been removed.

  8. Hi, Started the planning for renewing retirement visa/extension/exemption or whatever it is called.  Is due in about 6 weeks, needs a passport validity of 18 months, I will have 12 at this point. Ok off to the Australian embassy website, earliest appointment in 6 week, then up to another 6 weeks to receive, no express service like there used to be, damm, two months too late. Ok so I will need to get another visa or whatever to tide me over until the new passport arrives. I am thinking a 90 day or something like that, which I can then covert back to retirement at a later date. The only information I can find on a 90 day is it being issued outside of Thailand, I am pretty sure I have got a 90 day previously in Thailand.  Anyone familiar with the current rules?  There is a lot more to the background of how I ended up in this situation, though I have only laid out the current facts of what I am now faced with as the rest is history.

Yep, a whole bunch of them around the world just don't want to let go of that mouth-water power they gave themselves. Bloody premier of Western Australia has introduced door-to-door covid test teams to catch the asymptomatic cases and therefore drive the numbers up in an attempt to justify his restrictions.

Anyway, good on Aed Carabao for making this effort. He's much admired in Thailand, so his actions may have some effect.

Yes there are covid testing teams door knocking and offering testing, but it is voluntary to take the test. But do not let mere facts get in the way of a good rant or conspiracy theory. Most likely wastewater sampling is showing covid in areas with no known cases, so a bit of cross checking to validate data, a boring logical reality unfortunately.

Useless: I can agree with you. But who tells that to Singapore, who wants you to self-test every day for one week after arrival?

Dropped as from 21st. Singapore changes their requirements regularly, generally applicable from 1 minute past midnight on Monday morning. I just happen to be working in Singapore at the moment and get updated every week on current requirements.

You conveniently forget that at the moment most non-Singaporeans are barred from entering at all. Check here https://safetravel.ica.gov.sg/arriving/overview#selfhelptool

I am non Singaporean and there is no such rule, maybe you need to learn how to use or interpret an online guide correctly?

Travelling from Thailand as a short term visitor AKA tourist the results are:

"If you are departing from Thailand, you can use the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) to enter Singapore without quarantine, but with mandatory regular testing. Accompanied unvaccinated children aged 12 and below are also allowed to use the VTL. Conditions apply. Please refer to this link for more details."

Thailand is amongst the most progressive countries in Asia by even accepting foreign tourists at all.

You'll be waiting quite some time, I imagine. Thailand needs to keep the trust of ASEAN and East Asian countries in being cautious and maintaining some form of control. Or at least the perception of that, since that's where the real tourism business will come from.

    Really??? Singapore's current arrangement excerpt:

The following measures are applicable for VTL (Air) travellers entering Singapore from 23 January 2022, 2359hrs (SGT):

    1. All travellers will only be required to undergo daily unsupervised self-administered ARTs from Day 2 to Day 7 of their arrival if they need to leave their place of accommodation, in addition to fulfilling pre-departure and on-arrival testing requirements.
    2. Those who test positive on the unsupervised self-administered ARTs no longer need to undergo a confirmatory PCR test but should instead abide by the relevant COVID-19 recovery protocol.

Makes Thailand's Test and Go mark 2 seem draconian to me.

  13. i am working in Singapore at the moment and overdue for a paid trip back to Thailand as part of my contract. I will wait a bit longer thanks. Coming back to Singapore there is a PCR test before flying into Singapore and on arrival and multiple ATK (ART) tests of which 2 are supervised. Also covid insurance for USD30,000. So I can sort of see where the inspiration for the Thai scheme comes from, just have to gouge a couple of extra days of expensive approved hotel and overdo the insurance etc, the Thai way. Oh and the bars are open in Singapore, only to 10:30pm, but that is ok, almost back to normal, Thailand used to have bars that opened, from memory.

  14. Been working offshore for years and similar situation. Thailand does not tax overseas earnings of non citizens or permanent residents. There is also another rule where if the money earned is not brought into Thailand in the year it is earned it is not taxed. So not a good idea to get salary sent directly to Thailand and you will qualify for both rules.

Is a bit harder to get a Thai tax number. What I did was went down to the local Revenue office I think it is with a copy of a bank statement showing I had paid tax. They then issue you a Thai tax number so you can do this. You now have a Thai tax number and a way to get refunds on tax paid on bank accounts.

  15. I took the paper copy of the vaccination certificate issued by Medpark and it was accepted by Singapore, they were not interested in the Mor Prom as it does not integrate into their system, and I suspect this new one will be the same. They will not accept non nationals coming to Singapore unless double vaccinated by two doses of any WHO recognized vaccine (yes that seems to include the Thai cocktails) plus two weeks delay before travelling there. However they also require as part of the admission rules a serology test to prove vaccination status, guess they have had a few fake vaccination certificates presented.

All these digital vaccination certificates are each countries take, and may not be accepted by another country. I am watching the IATA certificate as this seems to be more internationally accepted.

  16.  "Latest Poll suggests two thirds of Thais believe Prayuth can get Thailand out of economic mess".  I have now reread the headline and realised there are a couple of errors.  The corrected version should read  "Latest Poll suggests two thirds of Thais believe Prayuth can should get out of Thailand due to economic mess".

There you go now it makes sense.
