Haha yes.... and Lazada bombarding me. Plus all the nuisance Thai messages that come in on my phone number I get after a Lazada order.

Take the Lazada App off your phone and it will stop the Lazada <deleted>. If you are with AIS you can get them to block the spam or you can do yourself from their website on your login. Other service providers not sure, but worth a call to ask.

  2. My take is a little different. Despite the US embassy denying that there were strings attached to the first 1.5million doses, there were, remember one of the many generals standing up at some gab fest and saying 10% had to go to expats and so much to health care workers etc, well I have had that fact confirmed by 2 different doctors, thank you USA by the way as I benefitted. I feel that Anutin or one of his cohorts did not like being told how to distribute the windfall so decided to treat the US to some Thai bureaucracy for the second batch. Now just a face saving exercise as it has become public. Truly despicable actions though, and I hope one day to see the karma delivered for it.

With Sinovac, other than the fact that it is cheaper than the other ones, you'll probably will have to take couple or more of booster shots to make it work and this is when the cheap become expensive...

not mentioning kowtowing ( i would have used stronger terms but it's not allowed) to the big brother China...

They paid a lot more for the Sinovac than was the going rate. There was some price breakdowns in the BP I think it was the other day where A Nut In charge was touting how much cheaper they are getting it now and revealed the original price, I wonder where all the excess payment ended up, hmmmm.

  4. 2x Pfizer with the second jab on 31st Aug at Medpark. Thanks to whichever branch of the US government facilitated, as was damm near impossible to get otherwise down Pattaya way, even though I met the criteria. Hopefully everyone who got vaccinated in Thailand updated the Mor Phrom phone app, I have a feeling that it may become important in Thailand at least. I am now in Singapore for a job, the rules for Singapore are no vaccination certificate means no entry and entry only allowed two weeks after second jab, and I still have to do two weeks hotel quarantine and a total of 3x PCR tests and 3 x ATK tests, plus a blood test to prove antibodies. Welcome to the world of travelling during Covid.

  5. Chulabhorn Royal Academy orders are not the same as government orders. The academy is ordering vaccines and selling/giving away as they see fit irrelevant of of the government wishes. It makes me laugh because they blindsided Prayut and Anutin by ordering the Sinopharm recently, and the first they knew about it was when it was published in the Royal Gazette. But they cannot say anything about it as to do so would risk a charge of Lese majeste due to the connections of the academy. Hoist on their own petard of abusing the lese majeste law to their own ends.

Thanks.  I shall look into it, but from what I read, overseas, certainly in the UK and Australia, it seems that the optimum gap is still considered to be 12 weeks.

I am pretty sure both UK and Aust have changed to a 8 weeks between doses schedule for AZ. The 12 to 16 weeks was aimed at getting lots of people done with at least one jab while there was little stock. Now that there is surplus AZ it is 8 weeks, which lies between the guideline 4 to 12 weeks. My friend who put me on to the 8 weeks business locally got his second jab today, another friend in Australia also second jab at 8 weeks. I had my second of Pfizer on Tuesday after 3 weeks, happy to get it over with.

There is no universality in what one was given at an inoculation. Mine simply has my name, time and date of next appointment:

Or, you can pick them up for free at most pharmacies. The approach in UK is they want to eradicate cases, not make money off the facilities to achieve that; it's quite radical. (And yes, I know nothing is free etc, but having just bought an antigen kit (5x) made by Roche for THB1400, it's a bit "freer" than that.)

4 tables. Not necessarily in the same restaurant.

Yes, I got my office whiz to do for me...still drew blanks. Need to check with my hospital; it's possible the Mor Prom app for this is different to the one I completed using my pink ID.

Sounds like you are experienced at living in Thailand. Apparently about 50% show the code. I have uploaded a copy of mine to a couple of the other posters. Yes I would ask at vaccination centre, starts with a 6 and is 13 characters long.

Thank you for information you have provided.  Could you please help me a little though?

    1.  Where can I find information that the revised time between AZ shots is now 8 weeks, not 12 - 16?  Do you have a URL link?

    2.  Attached is a copy of my vaccination centre appointment.  I have deleted the personal information, but no numbers and all I see is the reference H1334889, which is NOT my passport number.   Where do I find this 13 digit number you refer to?  I have entered all manner of combinations of this number, my passport number etc. etc. into the Mor Phrom app and it simply states I have not entered the correct number.  So, for me, the Mor Phrom app does not work, at this stage.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Apparently some are doing it differently. I have attached a scan of the paperwork I received after the first jab. Starts with a 6 and 13 characters long. All I can suggest is ask your vaccination centre.

  9. Shame they did not order enough vaccines so as to make this feasible, then delaying the time between jabs of the AZ was just the cream on the cake. In case anyone is affected the revised time between shots of AZ is 8 weeks, not 12 or 16, your vaccination centre may have "forgotten" to update you. It is easy enough to prove vaccination of both staff and customers using the Mor Phrom smartphone App so that is doable, but Antigen tests before entry, a dead duck that will be ignored.  Before I get told that the Mor Phrom App does not work for expats, it does. Basically on you paperwork received from the vaccination centre is an Id number that starts with a 6 and is 13 characters long, enter that and it should the bring up your details., certainly worked for me.

Something is not right here. I have 2 of the diseases. My 1st AZ dose was on the 7th June (first in line). My 2nd appt. is 28th September (16 weeks interval) I'm not allowed to sign up on [email protected] as I'm already in the Mor Phrom system. So 43,000 expats will have had 2 Pfizer doses before my 2nd dose of AZ?

Go and check with whoever again. I was told today AZ is now 8 weeks between shots. Very reliable source which I am not allowed to disclose, think who stands behind a pharmacy counter. This is Chon Buri province where the rollout is being organised by pharmacists, but should be the same everywhere? Being Thailand sometimes you need to ask.

  11. To put this in perspective the last figures show Australian 20,000 expats in Thailand, assume 10% have headed home due to Covid, this leaves 18,000 still in country. So with much fanfare there has been 0.55% of expats vaccinated on Sunday ,mostly from the greater Bangkok area. Assume 10% have been vaccinated by other means eg work Phuket, Samui programs. That still leaves 89.45% or about 16,000 persons, x2 = 32,000 jabs. Spare capacity of almost 1 million a week of the AZ in Australia as no one there wants it. Disgraceful the Australian government does not follow, not lead merely follow the example of France, China etc.

  12. Something to be very careful about here. Normal detergent is alkaline, alkaline eats aluminium which the fins are made of. So first get some acidic detergent, possibly disguised as coil cleaner for air conditioners. Lightly spray a bit of water from a garden hose onto the fins to wet then, note not drench. The spray the detergent on, wait about 15 minutes or whatever the label says then rinse with tap water. Job done and there should be lots of gunk coming out.  Probably best not to do this to the indoor unit though.

    A textbook example of irony.

Have you found that 50%? When you do note the 15 minute bit as well. This mean it can only do the 50% charge rate for 15 minutes, probably due to heating as that is the usual reason, but not specified. So lets assume based on experience after 15 minutes the 50% charge rate must be reduced to 25% to prevent overheating (?). So for example after one hour the total charge percentage increase is approx 31.25%. Take that in the 1980's I could, and did buy high specification batteries off the shelf that were capable of a sustained 25% charge rate, think like a carbon D cell vs an Alkaline cell, higher spec, but available. So after one hour of charge the 1980's battery had a 25% increase in charge and the new "Solid State" battery has 31.25% increase in charge based on 15minute increments (12.5+6.25+6.25+6.25). The increase in charge level for one hour is plus 25% to the "Solid State" battery for 40 years and billions of dollars of investment. Hence why I am somewhat sceptical of there being a breakthrough in the next few years with battery technology irrelevant of what it is called. They have been trying to improve capacitor specifications at the same time as a capacitor can take 100% charge in milliseonds, but has poor efficiency and does not hold the charge well. It may be a breakthrough in capacitor technology that is the game changer, again not that hopeful of an imminent breakthrough.

So taking the problem back to its roots and ignoring politicians and media pronouncements the problem is diminishing oil/gas reserves and a desire to reduce pollution? The perceived solution at the moment for some is the fully electric vehicle(EV). The major inherent problems of an EV are recharge time for the cells and what to do with the cells after use, you can only drink so much coffee while waiting for a recharge on the trip to Chiang Mai or wherever. There is also the problem of how the electricity for the charging is produced, from coal or even gas is a pollution source, renewables not viable at the moment in a lot of the locations where desired, the batteries again. So a lot of hurdles for the EV. Hybrid is better for convenience, but the fuel/pollution from the engine is again problematic, but hybrid has a smaller battery setup, so less to recycle or dispose of. The mantra for pollution reduction is "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle".

So how about a a different solution that has the convenience of the current vehicle with fuel refill in minutes, batteries as per the Hybrid ( a lot battery smaller setup than an EV), the fuel is produced from 100% renewables, and can be done now without any technology breakthrough's required?

I will now add a couple of links, one is from a test done in France and the other is from a proposal being worked up in Australia between Total Eren (an associate of Total Petroleum) and Province Mining. There are numerous similar proposals around the world, interestingly one is in Saudi Arabia.

    https://www.whichcar.com.au/car-news/toyota-mirai-breaks-hydrogen-distance-record

    https://www.provinceresources.com/hyenergygreenhydrogen

Unfortunately it spreads a lot information over several announcements. The brief is renewable power to Hydrogen, Hydrogen H2  catalysed to Ammonia NH3, now a liquid( N=Nitrogen makes up 78% or air). Transported as a liquid (higher energy density than a gas), supplied to a vehicle as a liquid ammonia or hydrogen gas (ammonia is safer), passed through a fuel cell to power the battery and hence vehicle, hence why a hybrid type vehicle. The conversion from Hydrogen to Ammonia releases atmospheric Nitrogen, which is then vented, products of combustion for Hydrogen is H2O eg water .

Note I own shares in both Total SE and Province Mining, but as we say for share trading DYOR (Do Your Own Research). I also have qualifications in electronics and have been working with cells, batteries, charging systems, design, installation, commissioning, repair and replace as part of my work for about 45 years, so not someone who just got interested in the field, lol.
