  1. I think the more time you spend with his family they will grow to like you. This was evident in my situation. My wifes family did not want her with a farang man to begin with but eventually I won them over. Its fear of the unknown. Hopefully they will one day realise how weird they were for disapproving of your relationship just because your not the same race or culture.

  2. I would be gracious and grateful host. Welcome them to the home with open arms.
If you can be magnanimous and sincere and big, even for 15 minutes. You could then politely excuse yourself for less than self-indulgent reasons.
If you're unable to do that, I would get some long term spiritual counseling. Be solitary and look at yourself.
I'm suggesting this to you as a spiritual brother. Love them. They are your wife family and loved ones. ASk God to help.
    Auld lang syne

I don't think we have to bring god in to this and get all weird.

Basically you just have to be a good person. I.E your first couple of sentences.

  3. I think this all depends on the type of person you are. I think you'll find more often than not westerners are very private, I don't mind my wifes family coming round but I think 13 people in your house for 5 days is taking the p**s a bit. I would definitely try to enjoy yourself with them though. I know when I first met my wifes Dad, wai'd, smiled etc and his spoke to me twice since in 4 years. I'm half his age though which plays a big part.

Some of your posts are quality!

  4. I'm looking to buy a some decent gloves, a heavy bag and a heavy duty stand to hang it on or even a free standing bag would suffice.

I would imagine I could get hold of a bracket and fit it to one of the walls but I could see it pulling the wall down when I start training.

As anyone got any experience purchasing equipment like this or know of any companies that sell boxing equipment online preferably with delivery? I've had a look at a few websites but naturally most are in BKK.

    I'm in Chumphon.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

  5. How ridiculous! You've paid 20 baht more for a t-shirt so you've been scammed? If it costs 200 baht it's most likely knock off anyway.

As long as you have common sense you should be just fine. You don't have to be broke or oblivious to get "scammed".

SCAM - A fraudulent business scheme; a swindle

There are some weird creatures living in Thailand fair play hahaha!

There are two sorts of people who don't get scammed in Thailand.

    1. Those who never understand what's happening.

    2. Those who are essentially broke.

You forgot number 3. The ones that keep their wits about them.

I don't say they haven't tried but the same thing happens in my country and your country and any other expats country. Why continually pick on Thailand?

    You can keep your wit,BUT

Say you bought a tshirt for 200 baht, while 3 shops down it is sold for 180.

Guess what? you have been scammedthumbsup.gif

To make matters even more funnier, both shops are owned by the same personw00t.gif

It does not have to be "in your face" scam to be scammed, so to claim you have never been scammed = you living in total and utter oblivion.wai.gif

  6. Some of the comments on here are insane. Just because there is a couple of dogs outside some of your houses barking they deserve to be slung in a truck and slaughtered??

I run regularly in chumphon and have obviously had dogs bark at me but never try and attack me. Its the idiots provoking them with sticks they go for.

I'm sure there is a more humane way to deal with the problem but will something get done about about it? In Thailand? I won't hold my breath........

  7. There is no way a foreigner killed them with a garden hoe. That is thai style all the way, they were murdered by thais and in my opinion the perps will never be brought to justice. The thai police, like most police forces are to corrupt and incompetent to solve this case. I feel sorry for whoever it does get pinned on, some Burmese worker would be the easy option. As long as its not a thai national or indeed the real culprits tho hey.........

  8. With the tourist visa valid for two or three entries into Thailand you will not need to leave the country every 60 days, as you can get a 30-day extension following each entry. If it is valid for three entries, make sure to make the last entry before the expiration date of of your visa, regardless of the expiration of your permission to stay, which will probably be a later date if you do the extensions.

The tourist visa valid for more than one entry should theoretically be valid for travel to Thailand for six months from its date of issue but some consulates give it a validity of 180 days.

    Thanks for the advice.

I'm based in Chumphon. Immigration come to tesco lotus there every other tuesday (I think) so other than travelling up to Hua Hin it's difficult.

What is the current 30 day extension fee?

Also the visa is 180 days, so if i do a visa run a few days before it expires, am I right in saying i'm still entitle to another 60 days followed by a 30 day extension?

    Cheers
