How ridiculous! You've paid 20 baht more for a t-shirt so you've been scammed? If it costs 200 baht it's most likely knock off anyway.

As long as you have common sense you should be just fine. You don't have to be broke or oblivious to get "scammed".

There are two sorts of people who don't get scammed in Thailand.

1. Those who never understand what's happening.

2. Those who are essentially broke.

You forgot number 3. The ones that keep their wits about them.

I don't say they haven't tried but the same thing happens in my country and your country and any other expats country. Why continually pick on Thailand?

It does not have to be "in your face" scam to be scammed, so to claim you have never been scammed = you living in total and utter oblivion.

Some of the comments on here are insane. Just because there is a couple of dogs outside some of your houses barking they deserve to be slung in a truck and slaughtered??

I run regularly in chumphon and have obviously had dogs bark at me but never try and attack me. Its the idiots provoking them with sticks they go for.

I'm sure there is a more humane way to deal with the problem but will something get done about about it? In Thailand? I won't hold my breath........

There is no way a foreigner killed them with a garden hoe. That is thai style all the way, they were murdered by thais and in my opinion the perps will never be brought to justice. The thai police, like most police forces are to corrupt and incompetent to solve this case. I feel sorry for whoever it does get pinned on, some Burmese worker would be the easy option. As long as its not a thai national or indeed the real culprits tho hey.........

There are some real cretins on here that only know women in Thailand that are bar girls and their sad experiences.

My wife and I get by. We spend six months on/off together for now. We've had our share of dramas but if you really want to be with each other you'll make it work. Skype and line/whatsapp help alot!

With the tourist visa valid for two or three entries into Thailand you will not need to leave the country every 60 days, as you can get a 30-day extension following each entry. If it is valid for three entries, make sure to make the last entry before the expiration date of of your visa, regardless of the expiration of your permission to stay, which will probably be a later date if you do the extensions.

The tourist visa valid for more than one entry should theoretically be valid for travel to Thailand for six months from its date of issue but some consulates give it a validity of 180 days.

I'm based in Chumphon. Immigration come to tesco lotus there every other tuesday (I think) so other than travelling up to Hua Hin it's difficult.

What is the current 30 day extension fee?

Also the visa is 180 days, so if i do a visa run a few days before it expires, am I right in saying i'm still entitle to another 60 days followed by a 30 day extension?

What a freaking bore. The way OP writes as if there aren't any materialistic people from the west when it's the west that built capitalism and all the material trappings. Remember charging an arm and a leg for a bag all because it has a logo called "prada" on it or "lois vuitton" all of this came from the west and western ppl buy them and so do ppl from other countries rather than a similar bag from a flea market.

I find it rather silly and presumptous of OP to make such statements like thai ppl worship rich people what about the sports ppl like david beckham or kobe? What about rock stars and singer? These ppl are worshipping by millions of common sheep in the west.

I'll give it though that western ppl have a way of making everything seem more noble even though they behave exactly the same way as ppl in thailand.

Let's take a person donald trump. Rich guy behaves just like every rich guy the world over. Has women and knows how to control his underlings etc. Yet i am willing to bet ppl here think donald trump somehow is a more "noble" or a better person than a rich hi so thai person similar to him all because trump is a western guy.

After applying for a multiple entry Non O visa 2 weeks ago, I received an email today saying -

"We must have the last three months statements of your UK current bank account. These must show a monthly income of a minimum of £1,400 or a lump sum of £16,000"

This is absurd! I work hard when I'm back in the U.K and earn considerably less than this a month after tax.

How many people have got 16 grand in there bank burner these days??

I called the consulate the same day and was informed I could have a single entry for 3 months or take the multi tourist entry for 180 days obviously having to leave the country every 60 days.

I regrettably had to take the latter even though I don't consider myself a fuc***g tourist as i've been married to my thai wife for over 4 years.

Don't know why I'm writing this to be honest but i just think its disgusting.

When her friends and family come I politely greet them, chat for a while and leave them to it. No one is allowed in my bedroom upstairs even though I have caught her mum in there nosing about.

I've told the wife she can have the downstairs along with the kitchen and I will have the upstairs.

That is all.

Make sure your car is free from left over soi dog, if ever inspected and go on about your business...............
