    2.  Written test

    3.  Practical driving test each category of driving license fee is appointed from

          Phuket Provincial Land Transport Office.

I know of a moron who let his DL from home expire and failed the driving test!

Got pinched on the way back to Patong. Whilst the Pincher was Pinching the Pinchee the Dump Pinchee let the Pincher see his faild stuff....Not chance for a buy off that I forgot my DL expired.....MORON

So why don't people just get a Thai Lic!

  3. Firstly Thyim ... great avitar..

the proff of res thingo....I will soon be the test baby cause I'll be applying for my Thai DL soon. Had a my Patong Taxie man check on the deal for me and yes the reg at you embassy will work. Infact the web info I got here is spot on. You got the paper work and it is just a eye test. Let you DL expire and off to class, written test, and the dreaded road test. See, there is no justice.

  4. Austria and Germany...File suit against your own gov.... How abuot some Nazi camps for those ######s!

File suit because the governments allowed you to depart on a commercial carrier to a place that was in danger...I don't think so...Black list the sorry areses from

Thailand. Where can we e-mail the thai government to make that recommendation?

  5. I need to get an account with an ATM card. I'll have a Non Immi O visa and thai DL so it won't be a problem. Would like to open the Acct in Bangkok and use a branch in Patong. Is Bank of Bangkok good?

  6. Have you looked at getting it done at home. I just went thru the process, rather easy, and am looking forward landing as a visa holder. I have learned that getting a Thai DL is quite easy also. Have and Int'l permit, your home land DL and a few things to chase down and your in the pink. I will take only and eye test and be given a DL that day in Phuket. <deleted> blokes whom used he Int;l permit whilst the home DL ran out have a written and road test. Will I be driving in Bangers...not a chance but have and will drive in Phuket.....Love to take a girlie for a ride into the no where and have a round or two under the trees. Lovely...

Also, the coppers like the Thai DL, you'll get some discounts on Air other stuff with the DL as it show legal residence and your passport number is on the little bugger. YOu'll need your home DL/INt'l permit translated, certificate of Residency, health form (same as for Non Immi O visa will work) and off you go. All this has bee discussed here before and I actually downloaded the DL info from a link provided. Go Get'em

  7. I just got an e-mail confiming that it is not uncommon and the run at the top of the hill into Patong from the south is the hot spot. I wonder why the dark curves from, Kalmala don't qualify as a "Muggers Paradise". This exactly why I'm getting my Thai DL and a Car...one with big bumpers so the accident makes will think twice about ramming me on a motor bike. Falang w/ thai DL and Thai Ins, you still will get the short end!

  8. got me papers ready and will be making my first landign in BKK with a Non Immi O Visa. I think I will be more excited. I do know that I'll make few trips home to get all the business fixed up. What is a good bank to handle the xfer of cash to show it came from out of LOS. I will be house shopping in Patong, on the Hill above the water line, so I want to have a branch there but will actually do all the U.S. Embassy visits for register, get my DL translated and open banking, Bupa, and other <deleted> etc. Intersting note that I don't ujse Blue Cross in America but will change over and the offer a much smoother transition. So, and Bank info. I will need to exfer alot baht....any info?

  9. Wow,. alot of stuff... Let me throw my two cents in since I have just completed the paper work. The 800,000 Baht was just a bank statement with a stamp and signature. The med is a form that states you don't have some certain diseases, the thingo on your non criminal backround was a print out from the local office of the coppers. There was an adendum to the app form. Passport with more than 1.5 years on the time. that was about it! Of, the med form was in thai and English. Leprosy, TB, Elephabntiasis, Drug Addection, Third Step of Syphilis. The form came off gthe

http://www.thaiembdc.org/consular/visa/retirementvisa.html ant then just printed alol the forms for me. Pieca of cake. Same Same for getting a DL which is said to be a really good idea. heard that the DL is sort of like a Thai ID Card for farang cause it will have you passport number and visa info etc.

Needless to say I am very excited. I will arrive with my visa etc but will need to make a couple trips home to sort out all the things. I've dedcided to buy a place in Thailand and rent out my condo at home untill I'm totally sure it is the right move then I divest entirly. BTW I have thought this thingo thru and will imerse myself buy furnishing my new crib with Thai style stuff. I have alot of Thai decorum at home now......Oh Yeah, you just have to show the 800,000 baht for the VISA APPLICATION each year. If you don't/can't keep that kind of money iun Thailand just fill up the account for the visa check.

  10. go to www.latestays.com and fish around to Patong for some good deals.

right now www.tharapatong.com has pay 7 stay 10 and so on.. Lots of deals in Patong. If you paid wih a CC can't you get the nick removed for non provision of the room etc. Also, did you contact the hotel about them supplying you with a different place. Five weeks seem like plenty of time to sort this out. I'll be ther soon myself.

  13. There is what seems to be a tennis complex in Phyket City right next to the government offices. Adjacent to the car park near the main entrance. I jus notice them on a recent trip to the officialdom but didn't really check it out!

  14. Hello Punter and especially HKT meaning Phuket in Airline Speak...

That is Soi Crocadile or commonly know as Soi Katoy. I expect that to be a real photo. I can see we have some non Patongite's posting. If you look at the place on a normal time it is many many couples and single females some are headed to the back of the soi to Andaman Queen Kateoy Show. You will even notice that the Cocktails and Dreams Kateoy bar up on Soi Tiger alson caters to lots of siongle females and couples. What has been said is that the male punters are back in full swing but single girls and couples are still not there. I would expect that to be the case and the pic of Soi Kateoy on Bangla fits rigtht into that report.......No load of bunk here, have the reporter hit Soi Eric and Soi Tiger for some pics. Be there soon myself...Jus think relief is now a two way street!.

good over view....BTW I think I know the Darling waving???

  15. Are you kidding me.... The world wide chapters of the House House Harriers will donate that much.....Come on Guys, you have more that that under those nighties.

PHUKET CITY: Medical supplies, tents, sleeping mats, blankets and 75 tons of food donated by the government of Saudi Arabia arrived in Phuket yesterday.

The aid items, flown to Phuket on a special relief flight, were handed over to Interior Minister Bhokin Bhalakula at Phuket Provincial Hall.

Saudi government officers visited the tsunami-stricken areas of southern Thailand last week.

Hani A Mominah, Chargé d’Affaires at the Saudi embassy in Bangkok, said his government had tripled its assistance to the tsunami relief effort to US$30 million, after recent re-assessments of the magnitude of the tragedy.

March is still high season but I hear that hotels are really hurting a offering discounts that are normally done in low season. the Thara Patong is offerin stay 4 pay 3 www.tharapatong.com. The weather will be getting warmer as is reportede in Bangkok. Remember that April, Songkran time, is really hot. Will be well into the 90's F. I'm expecting to see lots of discounts in all places as business is tight. go, have a good tiome as it should be cheap vacation.
