Motorcycle rental companies are Much too eager to rent their bikes without doing due diligence ( like handing out statistic sheets stating that Thailand is VERY dangerous for Motorcycle drivers )...or checking for insurance, proper driver license etc.etc.

Thailand complies with plenty of requests from the UK to capture and hand over criminals. I would imagine the UK would do the same. The key question is ; WAS a RED ALERT ever issued by Thailand ?

Thailand has virtually NO spousal or family support laws, thus many men have affairs or, just walk out from their families. No one enforces whatever laws are on the books, since Most policemen, lawyers, judges, politicians etc. have mistresses ( geeks ).

Having just returned from Japan, I was in 7th heaven crossing the street. EVERYONE stops for pedestrians in Japan. It's just the OPPOSITE in Thailand. NO ONE stops here. What is Needed .... SERIOUS law enforcement with SERIOUS fines - not the 200 baht BS.

The Easy Visas for Chinese, Russians, Indians- allowed a criminal element to take advantage. The Thai Tourism Minister did not think this through very well. 30 days Visas is MORE than enough travel time for quality, responsible travelers with jobs back home. Who has 60 days to spend on travel when you're 30, 40, 50 years old ? Scammers mostly, is my guess.

Why is it that Any report on the dangers of motorcycle driving in Thailand NEVER, NEVER mentions non working tail lights at night ? How many of us have suddenly come upon a dark clothed motorcycle driver who was almost impossible to see until the last few seconds ? THAT is just as dangerous if not More so. Those not wearing helmets only hurt themselves. Non working tail lights can involve innocent drivers - who most likely will be footing the bill.

Considering the BILLIONS of baht Thais spend on Alcohol , the " economic necessity is pure Bullsh#t. This is simply a greedy grab for more money from tourists who are trapped at whatever location they traveled to to see a temple or park. Thais in BMW's or Mercedes pull up and pay zero. Others with the latest iPhone or Samsung also pay zero. It is a bad policy to double price.

Passengers on flights arriving from India should be given leaflets explaining that defecating or urinating in public is NOT done in Thailand. In India it is common place, of course.
