As I said in one of my first posts here, I am a Mod on another Thai related board.
The true story I posted was firstly to chip in into the thread and secondly to see if this board is as unwelcoming as some people said.
The opinions aired in the last several posts do not hurt me, knowing that the ex-prostitute has acquired more education than what probably half of this board members have or will have ever gained.
I am not feeling welcomed here.
Most are just not as honest as you.
They mock you because they envy your honesty, and most wish that their ex-Bargirl wife had as much intelligence as your wife has.
Mind you, the partners of these guys cannot be that smart.

I for one would donate to The Thai rak Thai party if Thaksin made such a stand.
Get rid of all the Bars in Pattaya, rid Pattaya of all the Farang lowlifes, have strict policing to eradicate all sex workers in Pattaya.
Make a law that enables Farangs to be arrested for exploiting Thai people, prostitution is Illegal, Millions enter Thailand every year to help an illegal activity prosper. So arrest them!
I suggest a 50,000 Baht fine for all Farangs trying to procure sexual services for money. followed by deportation and Blacklisting and to be placed on a register that would be made available to all other countries that are targetted by sex tourists.
Thaksin would be an International Superstar if he made this stand.
Tourist numbers would skyrocket as REAL tourists would come to Thailand with their families, without having to witness the Legions of grey haired old men trawling the beach road for any new young yaba addicts that will give a BJ for 200 Baht.

Hi all, I know that when applying for a Thai drivers licence you can not do so on a holiday visa, a non-imm visa is necessary.
Just curious as to when the first initial year of the licence has nearly expired, when renewing the licence does one need to hold a non-imm visa or can it be renewed on a holiday visa? And what is the process?

Mussen, I renewed mine without a Non Imm visa, but she would only give me 1 year, if i had a Non Imm she would have given me 5 years.
All I had was a 30 day entry stamp.
This was at Pattaya office, in April.

At the Voodoo bar, Nana Plaza. She was a prostitute.
Stopped working bar and has been doing very important works on herself. From 6 yrs school, she completed it all, up to the HSC.
Then, enrolled a Business school. 2 years.
Soon to be completed, she is a very good student.
In Thai, her school counts as a tertiary education.
Before somebody ask, the age diff is 13 years.

I was once asked by a Singapore Chinese guy if I knew women that wanted to work in Singapore.
He said he would pay me for taking Girls to Singapore, fares expenses and a fee.
He asked me because I used to go there a lot, and he knew that I was also living in Pattaya when I was in Thailand. And some girls I knew had asked me to take them to Singapore.
When he told me that they would have been working in Gaylang Road, kept in a house, would have to pay the Agent ( Him ) 2000 Singapore Dollars out of her earnings then she would start earning money for herself.
She would have had to go with 100, low paying customers before she would be free of debt. Cos she would also have to pay for the house and food etc also. So she would only be able to pay the agent 20 $ from each client!
My answer was, No.
I could never have faced those girls again if I had decieved them into thinking they would earn lots of money, with a chinese boss in Gaylang, he earns the money.
Yes there are girls that work in Singapore that do well, there are many more that do not.
Bad business all round.

There used to be one in a small bar in Wong Amart, Pattaya. I am going way back now, but it is the only one I have seen in Thailand.

Lot of good Thai muslims in Pattaya involved with motorcycle rental.
Good and bad everywhere folks. The crime figures in USA and UK will bear this out.

Wonder when the travel agents will get onto this another other news around Thailand recently and simply advise tourists "don't bother going".
Do you think the average male tourist cares what time the bar closes?
Take away the women from the bars, then it will affect tourism to places like Pattaya, until then it will change nothing in the way of tourist figures.
Remember all the warnings of a mass exodus of tourists and expats when the Visa fees where increased?
And what happened? Nothing.
They could close the Bars at 10pm and triple the visa fees, Western men will still flock to Thailand.
Sad but True.

One of Thailand's major industries is tourism and I think they should leave closing times up to the ownership of nightlife venues.
Thailand is a target for sex tourists, maybe early closing is just the start of far more draconian measures.
A war on sex tourism perhaps ?
They have a war on drugs, cracking down very hard on their own people, killing thousands in the process.
I don't think they will be taking too much notice of a group of farang that want to drink all night.
If the girls where not in the bars, would you even bother at all ?

This is a real problem for investors and bar employees alike... think of the bigger picture.
It is always a bad investment to invest in a bar in Pattaya, that is why so many are for rent and for sale. If the Bars where such a great money spinner, the Thai Chinese would run all the bars, not just rent the land and premises to farang dreamers. The Chinese and Indians are good business people in most countries, how many do you see sitting in their beer bar getting drunk with tourists?
95% of the bars in Pattaya should be closed, they are not an attraction, they are what makes Pattaya the place it is.

Can't really blame the government for wanting to be seen to be doing something.
Thailand has become a place associated with prostitution, where western males can go and get cheap sex. It is a target for sex tourists, it is cheap because many of the people are financially vunerable.
If I was the PM of a country that was the target for overseas sex tourists, I would be much more draconian.
Lets be honest, a huge percentage of the people that travel to Pattaya do so for one reason.
Take away all the girls, and you would be left with a ghost town.
Pattaya is not a world class resort, you cannot park anywhere, it is dirty, the sea is filthy, you cannot cross a road with any safety, no overpasses or underpasses, constant traffic problems, crime, prostitution, muggings , bag snatching, drug addicted prostitutes on the main beach promenade, aggressive ladyboys, corrupt police, no traffic regs, a haven for overseas criminals and sex tourists.etc etc.
How can you call Pattaya a world class resort ?
If I was PM, I would bulldoze the lot of it and start again.
