  1. forum members I had not posted for a long time & when I did post & gave my opinion I was insulted & called a crack head so my advice to you as well as the board if you disagree with a poster post some thing that may prove his post may be incorrect not call him/her a crack head or any other name so with sad regret I will go back in to seclusion & take a long vacation from posting again BTW I am a street kid from Brooklyn N.Y. USA I was to busy trying to survive then taking time out to be able to write perfect grammar on a forum which means nothing to me so correcting me shows your only trying to show off your skills have a nice day BYE

  2. a note to you expats we are guest in this country & I am not sure we are wanted guest I do know they like our money that why they charge us more than a thai so hear me the red shirts protest is none of your business if they love thaksin that there business I know I hate the banks world wide because they are corrupt & the elected officials world wide are there puppets so if you find your self being put out because of demonstrators that just tough crappo for you I do not feel for you what I do feel for is those who suffer because of lost jobs & being ignored by the Government so if they get 500 baht to demonstrate good for them the slave owners only pay them 200 baht a day & they got to bust there azz for it / I remember the last one I had booked a flight to go back to the USA months earlier & was caught up in it I could not get a flight from Udon to BKK & my wife would not take the train fear of being stuck some were between udon & BKK so we drove to the airport was stop many times by BIB I was not angry even with that inconvenience I was in agreement with those who demonstrated I got my plane & departed to the USA when I returned 4 weeks later it was over GOD bless the people they are the ones who get raped from the elite bankers & politicians & slave owners of business

  3. yesterday it was 30.34 to 1 USD today it below 30 29.94 I knew it would not last long I am glad I did exchange some USD yesterday the bankers are keeping the baht strong for there own wind fall profits greed has set in & the poor are suffering with loss of jobs in both tourist & exports so what you read in BKK post is all B/S lies about how well Thailand is doing

  4. I live about 80 K from Udon Thani the road to my village is very bad we also do not have a land line phone connected to our village & no cable I had spoken to TOT & there reply was no phone line will be installed there reason was the people steal the wire for the copper I find that reply full of B/S the people of my village are mostly poor rice farmers who only harvest enough rice to live off & have a few cows which do not provide any thing including milk but if you speak to them they all love Thaksin I wonder why I don't know except my wife tell me Thaksin gave them hope & free medical care also small loans some used them wisely some bought mobil phones & motor bikes some wasted it on beer & cigarettes that there business not mine I also know not one of them went to the red shirt rally in BKK they were to busy trying to feed there family & to my knowledge none of there daughters are selling there bodies so why is my village singled out I am sure there are many like mine. my sister in law husband is working in Taipei & the dollar is weak compared to the baht so once again the poor get raped now you tell me Thailand is more productive than Taipei & I will call you idiot so who robbing who ? Maybe that why they dislike this government they are being ignored

  5. the Thais in my village love the X PM Thaksin so I guess it who you talk to & what financial scale they are on most poor & uneducated support Taksin that does not mean they are stupid they vote there pocket books which most people do I also see a connection with the thai baht & the poor while thai bankers are making wind fall profits the poor are going hungry small business are hurting expats are even pulling there belt strap tighter I know I am & no one in high places want to do any thing about it so who at fault I remember when yellow shirts shut down the airport no one was shot or jailed but when red shirts demonstrated shots were fired & red shirts went to jail. speaking for my self I know I am looking to leave I no longer want to live here I hope to be gone before 2012 rings in & if my wish should come true I will never return to the LOS & I am willing to bet many more expats will leave & I suspect that what the Government want that why they let baht get strong while they profit from it correction while they inflate the baht I don;t believe the baht is strong that is my opinion & I stand by it you all can believe what you want

  6. I don't know jack ship about thai politics on how they elect a P.M. I was only commenting on riots in BKK as for bringing a baton to a gun fight those cops had guns if they needed them as for Rodney king riots LA claims a lot but when it comes down to real issue it the NYPD is the best maybe I am biased because I come from Brooklyn N.Y. / as I read some of the post it seems many of you know a lot about thai politics so I will do the smart thing and shut up LOL

  7. they are building in Udon Thani the place is growing but i do not see a large number of expats moving here I am not sure but it would be my guess that wealthy Thais are coming here I go to swenson ice cream in the complex & I see all Thai kids ordering ice cream which cost more than 50 baht & I am the only expat in there unless I have a friend with me so these kids have money when a working thai works for 200 baht a day he can not afford to buy ice cream for 50 baht for himself & his lady & that the low end price on ice cream most of the specialty are 99 baht & above this is why I have that opinion

on who is moving up here

  8. the way I see it the shooter had no concern about the news reporter if he missed he would have killed a innocent bystander I find that repulsive I also find it that the General was being inter-viewed not engaged in a combat shoot out which also disturbs me.

The shooter (who ever he was) probably had no concern about the news reporter. The fact that he didn't make a clean shot shows that he could have also easily taken out someone else. His orders from someone was to get Seh Daeng. He probably took that opportunity when Seh Daeng's guard was down during an interview. I wonder who organised the interview.

I never engaged in a demonstration in my own country I sure would not take part in one here but when a Government uses live ammo on unarmed demonstrators they now become murderers plain & simple. I have seen Police on horse back break up mobs without use of fire power just a strong horse & baton got the job done now I am not saying that would have worked in Bangkok but I believe it was not handled correctly. it seems the people with all the money think they know what is best for those with out the money I see it in the USA bankers running my country & robbing it blind & they get away with it that the part that disturbs me & I see the same thing going on in Thailand with inflated Thai baht once again it bankers robbing the country & small business

How well do horses stand up to grenades and gun fire?

like I said it may not have worked in BKK but I have to assume the person or persons who fired the first shot is responsible for all the deaths that happened I also suspect the red shirts were not heavenly armed but the army was to me it was a tank going after a dog or using a grenade to kill a roach so I see no advantage for the red shirts to engage in fire power against a heavenly armed military I also know B/S is B/S no matter how you twist the facts

  9. the way I see it is more B/S coming out of the agency responsible for reporting it talk to hotel & restaurant owners ask them how business is this year. I remember few years back you had to make reservations 1 or 2 months in advance to get a room now you can walk in any hotel and get 5 or even 10 rooms because they are half empty take a walk on walking street see how large the crowd is look inside the restaurants see how busy they are that tell you the truth not some one behind a desk dreaming up numbers to report. look at factories see how much O/T the employees are getting see how many got laid off this also is a sign of what is going on./ this is just my opinion but I suspect the BOT want to get the Thai Baht back to were it was before the crash of 97 at I think it was 25 to 1 not sure on that at the expense of small business & hotel & restaurants & also the girls who make there living off entertaining the men it like the BOT want there cut before any one else & they have the means to collect it

  10. the way I see it the shooter had no concern about the news reporter if he missed he would have killed a innocent bystander I find that repulsive I also find it that the General was being inter-viewed not engaged in a combat shoot out which also disturbs me. 11. If Vietnam could get there crap together they could be the number one in tourism & exports of South East Asia they have a long beautiful coast line of beaches & they devalued there Dong two or three times so you will get more Dong for your buck which is good for the tourist I want to wish them great success they have been pick on way to long with China France USA & Cambodia all trying to take them over or exploit them which ever the case may be & they prevailed God Bless them

  12. I have no Interest in Thai politics but I sense a large number of thai citizens are unhappy with the present government since they were appointed not elected which is not the democratic way. I was not happy when the supreme court appointed GW Bush to be my President so I understand there frustration. I also want to say peaceful demonstration are good but you do not get the results your after I suspect if the election was to be held the red shirts would win with 70 % of the votes which tell me that elite ruling class fear the loss of power. I also want to ad shooting & killing unarmed demonstrators is not good policy it just ad more anger & fear & when people are tired of being afraid they become a super fighting force & nothing will stop them. I suspect the red shirts are hungry & with the economics of Thailand being loss of tourism & exports due to very strong Baht it the working poor that get hurt the most. / this is only my opinion

  13. what I do not understand is how the Thai baht keep getting stronger with all this violence going on & exports & tourism at a major loss and many countries advising

there citizens not to go to Thailand My gut feeling is telling me we are being scammed by the Thai banks or who ever is in control of the thai baht same when the coup

happened it was 36 to 1 USD before the coup after the coup it went to 35 and keep on getting stronger this is not good for the poor they will lose there jobs & tourism is at a loss also Hotels will be cutting there staff more job loss and we have a Government who was not elected but appointed which in my opinion send the wrong message to the Thai people at least majority of them maybe this is why the red shirts are demonstrating because it seem to me the elite are not concerned about the country welfare only lining

there pockets with a strong baht & ATM fees for expats who withdraw funds from out side the country. so it very easy for me to throw my support for the red shirts who I think are not getting a fair shake by this government especially when it over thrown a democratically elected PM to replace it with one who was not chosen by the people but chosen by the elite few

  14. Thailand made it very clear to me they said I am only a guest here so what happens here is none of my business

what is my business is what Thailand banks gives me for my USD and I am tired of paying for inflated over valued Baht

maybe these riots will bring the true value of the baht

  15. "I AM CRYSTAL METH "

This was written by a young girl who was in jail for drug charges,

and was addicted to crystal meth . She wrote this while in jail.

As you will soon read, she fully grasped the horrors of the drug,

as she tells in this simple, yet profound poem. She was released

from jail, but true to her story, the drug owned her. Please keep

praying for our Children, Teens, Young adults. Understand, this

thing is worse than any of us realize...

Thanks for that. Do you think she lacked will-power for not being able to stay off the drug?

I don't understand what you are trying to understand from this poem about what happens when a person can see no other way out from the torment of their addiction?

Alcohol, herion, Ice etc the dynamics of addiction can be masked by many issues and unresolved problems, with the drug further affecting that person ability to deal with life on life's terms.

I saw a chart that was called a Bell Curve used in teaching students in drug and alcohol studies(mainly used in alcohol studies). Tried to see if I could get it on the internet; couldn't find it. It was fairly simplistic in its assumptions of how a person may progress in alcoholism/addiction and the times that they may try and pull themselves out of this process. Might be worth another look.

I suppose you are right in the end you do lack will power, but what I have seen there is a certian process involved before the will power is lost to the Alcohol, herion, pot, ice etc.

I just thought the poem had impact as to outcome and being a pesonal account.

as a friend of Bill W for 27 years I still do not know what causes people to become alcoholic but I was told in my first week in AA it not what you drink or how much you drink it what happens to you when you do drink. I have had more than my share

of black outs and I lost jobs got in to fights and it was all alcohol related. so one day after a day & night of drinking and

finding my self drunk again with out remembering what I had done I knew it was time to get help. so I made that phone call

that most of alcoholics refuse to do is ask for help. today I look back on my life as a sober alcoholic and I get on my knees

and thank GOD for carrying me to AA because I did not get there on my own it was his help and guidance that brought me

there. I also want to thank the readers for allowing me to share my story with you and I hope & pray it helps some one get sober. God Bless all of you including the non believers AMEN

  16. Well I am happy all you rich guys did not lose your investment YET but it would have to be snowing in the equator before i put down 1 million baht for a visa to any country and Thailand would be on the bottom of the list with the way they lie and B/S about every thing mainly the thai baht which is worthless and being prop up

by USD but I guess the money was burning a hole in your pocket or your a show off with your wealth

  17. I did not read the replies so if I am duplicating a message please forgive me.

I am married to Thai lady and I am & always be a NON immigrant in Thailand

this is there law and they are not changing it because they don't want us here they just want our money

just look at there laws you can not own a house or a business in your name 100%

Vietnam is the place to go you get better exchange rate for your money and you can own any thing 100%

in your name I know I will be relocating there when my business is finished in Thailand

  18. my gut feeling tells me we will see a baht drop after the thai new year my reason is many companies will pull out of thailand mainly Japan and it will hurt the economics of Thailand which will weaken the baht from my understanding all the exporters from Thailand get paid in USD which of course will close many factories due to the strong baht like most of us who live here lost far to much money in the exchange rate now I don't give a <deleted>/ck about thailand baht the sooner it crashes & burns the happier I will be

  19. Is this not more of a dollar weakness story? The baht sank today against JPY.

The baht has gained virtually against all currencies in the world.

In just 6 MINUTES look at that:

    http://www.scb.co.th/html/exchange/29022008_164200.htm

    http://www.scb.co.th/html/exchange/29022008_164800.htm

The euro DROPPED almost 1 baht from 16:42 to 16:48. Never seen anything like this in my life.

There is no currency in the world which is rising as fast as the baht.

I notice you when the euro was 51 bahtr 1 ,the dollar was by no means as weak as now (dollar was below 1.40 for 1 euro).

Now with the $ at 1.52 for 1 euro , euro is at 47.02 baht for 1, it means euro has dropped brutally against the baht too, despite its strenght against the dollar and NAFTA/ALCA currencies.

In the SCB page you can check the rates of yen to baht in the past months and you can see how yen , won ,etc are significatly lower against the baht.

The baht rising is brutal, Bloomberg and The Economist is the past has ranked the baht as the fastest appreciating currency in the world.

Fundamentals can be strong ok, but for a country with political turmoils, capital controls, no friendly towards foreigner investment and a mere 5% growth a year, this appreciation looks surely exaggerated.

I am with you 100% I smell a rat in the wood pile
