I just got one from Glasgow, they never asked for bank statements, only application form, my passport, wife's ID card and passport and marriage certificate, waited 2 days then told to come and collect it
Thats because there is no change for the marriage requirements

If you have accesss to a US address, cannot beat the checking account/ATM card with Schwab. Zero fees....and generally pulling a better exchange rate than Siam Currency Exchange.....which I find is always best in Bkk for USD. I've looked at about every way to acquire cash from the US, including TW, and this is the best for my situation.

The topic was about transferring money. So using an ATM card may not be an option if OP is out the country. Read the topic...
By far the best option is Transferwise.
If you use this link you will get a free transfer up to 500 pounds or about $650 :

I have been using them since they first offered the service to Thailand in January 2015.
Sent thousands with them with no problems. One transfer was delayed a day (it was a Thai Bank Holiday) and they gave me a fee free transaction.
Use them monthly

I wear contact lenses in the UK and have the monthly variety.
These need cleaned every night.
Would you put them in the fridge overnight soaked in their cleaning solution? or just leave in the room at ambient temperature?

The result was I had to deposit 400,000b in my bank. Not really fair when I pay tax & social security, but what can I do?
Why not just rent a small house in a neighbouring province - Buriram - and apply at their offices instead?

Stay in thailand will be about 90 days and normally a single entry is sufficient.
However, I want to go for a short break with my wife to Vietnam - can I just get a reentry permit - say at buriram immigration which is convenient - before I fly out of DM?
Thanks

How much should a Cambodian lady married to Thai man pay for a work permit?
Does 25000 for ten years and 2000 each of those 10 years sound about right?

Use transferwise.com to your own bank account in thailand
They offer the best rates and all charges are up front.
I have happily been using them for the past 18 months to regulaly send money to my own account and also to my wifes account.
Never had a problem, transfer normally takes about 3 days

Wrong - he applied at the Glasgow consulate
