  1. The antenna adapter cable for my CAT Connection, Cmotech ccu 680 has become faulty ( the small cable between the modem and the larger antenna cable.

CAT sold 1 originally for 1000 baht (some mark up!) but now they no longer sell the ccu 680 modem on their site.

I'm currently in the UK so cant just pop in to CAT and ask.

Does anyone know if this cable is still available?

  2. Mine is an OMRON

Bought in a medical shop in Surin

    Was about 2000

I had a stroke in Thailand in June 2008 my bp before the stroke was 230 / 150.

With your measurement I'd get a doctor to give you something like an ACE inhibitor to lower it.

Its no fun having a stroke - I was paralysed and had a Tracheostomy so was unable to speak for 4 months.

Making a recovery but its a slow process.

  3. Needless to say post to Europe won't be getting through at the moment, but what about to the USA?

Does the Thai post fly mail to the USA avoiding Europe? ie round the world the other way?

  4. Although not Khon Kaen I reconmend Dr Prapan at Ruam Phet hospital in Surin as a good Neurologist.

I suffered a major stroke in June 2008 and without doubt his actions saved my life.

He speaks and writes English. Sorry dont know phone No.

For good English speaking try the consultants at the Bangkok hospital. Neurology Dept.

  5. Slightly off topic but where can I get some documents scanned using an A3 scanner?

I would like to get them scanned to a memory stick but as I live out in the sticks A4 is all that is available. :)

I've done a3 by stitching together 2 scans of a4 size and moving the documents position. Is that not an option? like have you too many?

  6. The position is wrong, its on 156E and its a ku band positioned on Auz not c band so not available here at all.

My apologies if this has been asked and answered before.

Optus C1 Satellite at 166 E on the Ku Band.

I know a little about this stuff but i am no expert. I know what Channels on this service are avaiable and how to get them. After looking up all the data, Lyngsat Etc.,with the size of the footprint, it should be quite sufficient for me to get a decent signal here in Bangkok.

I guess I could expect 'rain fade' in really bad weather, but I could live with that.

    Q. 1 Does anyone have this within the Bangkok area?

    Q. 2 If yes, What Box are you using (I have a DREAMBOX 500-S) but I would be quite willing to get another

Currently I have a 2 Mtr Static Dish locked onto Intel Sat 8 on the C Band. Using both a Dynasat F1 and Deambox

If I am able to get Optus C1, I will change the LNB back to C Band, reposition the dish and get a DTV System to compensate.

    Thanks

  7. The game was shown live on Thai tv so turning on any tv in LOS would have sufficed!

Being in Kunming and having Dream TV take away the ESPN and Star Sports package I was resigned to missing the FA Cup on Saturday night. My Chinese staff understood my frustrations and I was amazed at 2205 to have a knock on my door to find one of my staff members there with his laptop. He rushed into the house fired up his computer and there it was live on the internet.

The picture was fantastic, the sound great but the sound track was in Chinese - which was not a problem.

One happy Chappie and a grateful boss

All premiership, FA cup (later rounds) and European champions games are streamed live on the internet, and with English commentary.

  8. Hi

I'm actually looking for 3 of these, 2 to be used for driving safety aids and the 3rd as a security mirror in a supermarket.

Does anyone have any idea where I can get them, and the rougth cost each - I want the ones about 18 inches in diameter.

Even if your recomendation is in Bangkok I'd appreciate knowing, ideally with the address!

  10. I can confirm that using internet sharing is possible in Windows-contrary to what other sites and posts may say.

You do not need an expensive router that needs to be imported from abroad, the connection from the CCU 680 can be shared by software only under windows.

I have it currently shared with 8 pc's.

I can confirm that its working under Windows XP, Vista and the new Windows 7.

  11. Your best to join uknova before you travel.

Then you can keep up to date with the latest episodes.

Just wondering if there is a way to receive internet on my laptop when I am living in Surin. I will be living around 14 kms out of Surin. Is there a device such as a wireless modem I can purchase and receive internet this far out of Surin? If so how much do I pay for modem and plan?

    Any advice is appreciated.

I Had ipstar satellite for ages be for throwing it out was paying about 2,500 a month for it now use CAT CDMA item CCU -680 usb modem with a flash memory max3.1 mbps cost 13000 TB and 874 TB per month unlimited all in. C ost me a few bob extra which made it the 13000, as I had an antenna and cable to connect to my modem for my desktop old computer , but it states access on the go @ true broadband speed ,have been more than happy with it compared to ipstar , but a cheaper way would be to buy the nokia 3110 @ about 4,000 TB, I brought one and it was far better than my ipstar and quicker to , but not suitable for me as I tend to do a lot of downloading which is why I choose the CAT .

Thankyou all for your help. Much appreciated. Any fans of "The Bill" in Surin? If so can I watch it in Surin?

  12. Just installed the CCU-680

I am glad I bought the arial as well cause I have no signal where I live without it.

I installed the arial and just pointed it in the rough direction of the cell site - which the man at the CAT office in Buriram had kindly told me -in English as well and here are the results - bear in mind this is early evening in Thailnand aqnd the worst time to conduct a speed test. I reckon I am 13kms away from the cell site

    Last Result:

Download Speed: 1030 kbps (128.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

Upload Speed: 342 kbps (42.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

    Latency: 418 ms

  13. I got a USB cable with my 680 modem that has two plugs and one socket. The modem seems to work OK with a single plug so I'm not sure why they gave me the double plug cable. In any case, my desk top has plenty of USB ports so I am using the double plug cable. Has anyone had problems with single plug cables?

I will buy 1 tomorrow and will report back then.

I ditched my Tot IPSTAR and held off buying CDMA and have been using Edge in the meantime. but recent posts seem to indicate that the CDMA network is in fact not being ditched.

Gary - how far are from your nearest mast as i'm not sure where mine is. I will buy the arial just in case.
