Yes, aren't there some islands in Indonesia that could be developed to take this stuff and remelt it down, Just wondering if there is some place in the world that could be used to get some stuff collected and reused.

It's a logistical nightmare. The materials are toxic and persistent environmental pollutants like lead, mercury & cadmium. Some electronic devices, like smoke detectors, even contain radioactive material. Radioactive isotopes of cobalt have, in the past, gotten mixed into metal recycling resulting in common everyday metal items emitting radiation. Behold the radioactive cheese grater.

It's possible to build a facility to manage this problem, but nobody wants to incur the costs of shipping their trash to it if it happens to be far away, like Indonesia. The logical place to have such a facility is closest to the point at which the recycled material will be returned to the raw materials supply chain. That would probably be China.

Disassembly of electronic devices is labor intensive. I took an old printer apart a few months ago.  I've got all the tools and I'm familiar with the devices because I used to service them back in the 90s.  Even so, it took me between 4-6 hours to get everything apart to the point where I had a pile of plastic and a pile of screws and a pile of rubber and a pile of circuit boards.  Maybe I could do two of those per day before my hands went raw.    The material I recovered from that effort will not be enough to pay for my labor.

Well, an eight year old can understand it. Is that a plus in your book?

Yes, it is.  An unbelievably large fraction of Trump supporters approve of his actions.  That means they're absolutely clueless about why the things he says and does are horrific and mostrous.  So the satire and critique needs to be at a 3rd grade level to reach as many of them as possible.

Another election promise about to be fulfilled.

I just wanted to point out that it's 8:30 Monday morning on the east coast and the "election promise" has yet to be fulfilled.  I don't suppose this will bother you in the slightest, though.  If not following through on all those other promises didn't shake your faith, I suppose nothing will.

    TDS indeed.

  4. I find the mom & pop appliance shops to have the best prices and they sell all the same things.  The only downside is that I have to take a Thai friend or relative with me to speak to them because they usually have zero English-speaking ability.

Trump said [...] he would summon major social firms to the White House for talks in coming weeks.

Good; I hope they live-stream it and everyone will be able to watch Trump get schooled on the difference between government censorship and private media platforms making business decisions about what kind of content can be allowed on their platforms.

That's a crazy amount of sugar to have in a single serving, especially since bubble tea can be downed very quickly.

BUT this is not very far from what you get in your average 500ml soda bottle.

The picture posted seems to be showing single servings*.  Half a liter is not a serving.  There is more like 40 grams of added sugar in a can of coca cola.

On second look, they appear to be cardboard cutouts of servings.

So why are they licensed to sell it?

Do vendors really need a license to sell tea?

They would do well to have a low-sugar option or even a sugar-free one.  When I go to the fruit smoothie stand, I take my bottle of stevia syrup for her to use two squirts instead of the usual two big ladles-full of sugar syrup with drowned bees floating in it.  No more sugar-crashing for me now. Suclarose is also a good substitute.
