The French philospher Foucault believed that putting executions, that were previously public, behind closed doors was a step backwards as it severely lessend the deterrent value.

Hard to imagine what these poor little children went through, so confusing when its your own blood.

    RIP little ones.

You mean Michel Foucault, the child rapist who exploited children while Iiving in Tunisia in the 1960s? Yeah - he talked a good game.

I'd be interested where you read that. It didn't say that in the original article that I read on the Thai Rath website.
It mentioned that the case started by the father reporting his son was taken. It mentioned that the father was a 32 year old ชาวไทใหญ่ (Tai Yai person).
Then later when mention of the perp came up, it referred to him as a หนุ่มชาวไทใหญ่ (young Tai Yai person).
Nowhere did I read anything about him being from Myanmar and living in Thailand. Yes, Shan is equivalent to Tai Yai, with Tai Yai being the more commonly used term in Thailand, but it doesn't mean he isn't a Thai national at all. Of course, the Thai media mentions his ethnicity because of their infamous prejudice against ethnic minorities, so they'd love you to think he's from Myanmar, but it sure doesn't sound like it in the way the article is written.
Perhaps you don't know, not sure.... but Tai Yai is not a nationality. It is an ethnic group, a quite large one - in the millions, spread across several countries, primarily Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, and China. And they've been living in what is now northen Thailand since long before borders were ever made after Thailand annexed the the Kingdom of Lanna. Arguments could be made that they are just as much, if not more, natives of Chiangmai as Thai people. And this guy most likely is a Thai national/citizen. Being how Thai media loves to deflect attention about anything bad to anywhere else but Thailand, I'm sure they would have specified he was from Myanmar if they knew he was.

It says it in the second article above: "... identify the suspect as 29 year old Jai Kongkham, who is a Shan national living in Thailand."

The deck is so stacked in favour of the establishment that I really cannot see any legal way to stop this latest miscarriage. The fact it is so glaringly obvious that it is a travesty buggers belief

When any and all voices that speak against the gross corruption, nepotism and rampant thievery of the Thai establishment are silenced through the corrupt judiciary, the bought senators and so called law enforcement agencies what can the people do?

I can't see any other option than get out on the streets and express their displeasure because the hi-so's have completely fixed the justice system and without a full reboot change is impossible...

"it is a travesty buggers belief"
I would normally correct you on your grammar, but in this case your typo (or choice of words) is completely apt.

Hmmmm....  There's lots of good reasons why no one should want repeat COVID infections, even if they think they emerged unscathed. Below is just one of the many...

COVID-19 can cause brain shrinkage, memory loss - study

The study was done when the more severe alpha variant was dominant, so who knows whether it applies. Plus, long-covid is 50% less likely to happen for people who are vaccinated.

But the bigger question is this: do you want to spend the rest of your life wearing a mask, doing social distancing, updating your vaccinations, etc etc? Everyone will get the virus. Multiple times. Unless they literally live in a cave (without bats). That's what endemic means. The small city-state of Singapore just went from 14000 cases in one week to 28000 cases in the following week. And those are massive underestimates because many people (like me) see no need to trek to a doctor to be 'officially registered' with covid. The virus is out there and it will find you ... how long can we worry about it?

p.s. the taxi driver I had yesterday has had covid 3 times and just got over dengue. Said dengue was far worse. In fact, in 2020, dengue killed more people in Singapore than covid. That one scares me more because the companies haven't gone all-in to develop a vaccine for that...

Let's hope you don't fall victim to the following:

    Long COVID or Post-COVID Conditions

"Some people who have been infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 can experience long-term effects from their infection, known as Post-COVID Conditions (PCC) or Long COVID."

    ...

"Post-COVID Conditions can include a wide range of ongoing health problems; these conditions can last weeks, months, or years."

    ...

"While most people with Post-COVID Conditions have evidence of infection or COVID-19 illness, in some cases, a person with Post-COVID Conditions may not have tested positive for the virus or known they were infected."

    https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/long-term-effects/index.html

Some of those post-COVID symptoms can include:

Tiredness or fatigue that interferes with daily life, fever, respiratory and heart symptoms, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, cough, joint and muscle pain, chest pain, fast-beating or pounding heart, neurological symptoms, difficulty thinking or concentrating (sometimes referred to as “brain fog”), headache, sleep problems, dizziness when you stand up, change in smell or taste, etc etc.

Hope so too. But it's my second dance with the virus and there were no long-lasting effects the last. Whether that means anything or not, I don't know. I tested negative yesterday and feel completely fine. Haven't stopped working (at home) since testing positive. Brain seems none the worse for wear.
