  1. They tried this on myself in an upstairs bar in Patpong 30 years ago. I offered to pay for one girl's drink and specifically said I did not want to buy the other girls a drink. Shortly after I sat down I was given a bill for B3,000 (30 years ago). I asked them for a written receipt with the name of the bar on it to show to the police, they refused and the bill was settled for B200. All bars must by law have receipts with the name of their bar on them. If you are scammed in this way you can take your written receipt to the tourist police and they will go with you and recover your money. Usually, if you ask for the written receipt, and say you will report it to the police, they will back down. Although they pay the police protection money, the police nor the bar wants any adverse publicity or to waste time, when they could be looking for their next victim.

The upstairs bar in Patpong is still there ripping off tourists.

Either that or they get some of the security to take turns at knocking you out....

    "They will back down"

Not so sure about that oneblink.png

  2. I just baught a second hand click of a friend. He said it hasn't been used at all in 6 months and he doesn't know when his gf last took it for a service. It runs fine but i don't want to ride it too much until i've had the oil, air filter etc changed.

Can anyone recommend a shop in town where i can ask them to give it a full service and they won't rip me off. I used to know a reliable shop in Phuket but i'm fairly new to CM and havn't used any local guys here yet. Anywhere in town will be fine.

    Cheers

  3. Okay last week David help me with English. Now I do alone. You make me angry about I am not Thai lady. Send me message pm or ask my phone number. I will talk about what I think.

Can you speak Thai? You habe friend speak Thai? You live here long time and cannot speak?

    Who is David ?

A farang man she love long time

  4. The other day I heard a horn honk and had just enough time to pull my 4 year old daughter out of harm's way as a Vigo rumbled past. Before you say what were you doing on the road; we were at a carnival and the road was full of people with kids. Prick never even touched his brakes.

This is exactly the type of anger and hate im talking about. Who in their right mind would want to kill a 4 year old? Agree with me here, a lot of Thai's have a lot of anger built up inside them... No wonder they shoot each other so much, according to statistics more than any other country in the world...

Can you please cite the source of those statistics> I'm sure that this assertion is false.

Many sources for this, have been for years. You could of done a search but i have done it for youcoffee1.gif

  5. Did he flash his lights? If he did he has the right of way and why he was upset. <and yes, I'm being sarcastic> smile.png

You mean where they flash their lights at someone before running them down like a dog in the street? No I don't think he did. But boy do some of these Thai guys have some anger issues. I've done my share of travelling and working overseas Africa and Asia, just as many of us have. I can't recall ever meeting a group of people quite as angry as Thai men. angry.gif It's like a built up frustration thing. I have a sneaky feeling they'll never change. We got a bottle of water and washed the greenie of the window...sick.gif

  6. Are you quite sure it is a 2-way street? And does that operate 24 hours a day?

Other than that, was it possble your friend could have pulled hard left to allow the red songthaew to pass rather than sitting in the middle of his lane?

Other than that stressed and tired drivers who are using stimulants do tend to fly off the handle and drive erratically and aggresively.

Yes two way street 24hrs a day, always has been. No space for us to go anywhere, or him. Just can't imagine what he was thinking other than a loss of face. I think a lot of them are frustrated with the hard life of driving people around all day for 20baht.

  7. So i was a passenger in my friends car this morning. We were driving down a small road near Muang mai market. It's a two way street. Obviously we were on the left. There was a yellow songteaw driving on his left towards us with a red songteaw overtaking him (on our side.) We could see that the red songteaw was not going to pass the yellow one in time before he would of slammed into us head on. My friend did the correct thing and slowed down, then actually stopped as we had no space to move over. Sure enough the red songteaw also had to stop as he didn't make the overtake in time. Bad judgement, what a joke.... So he waited for the yellow truck to continue then he got back on his side.

As he was passing us he stopped, rolled down his window with a face of pure rage and anger. He shouted and screamed at my friend then spat at all down the window. We couldn't hear what he was shouting as our window was up and his radio was really loud. Anyway, what in his mind did we do wrong? Why was he so mad? He was the one on the wrong side of the road, we stopped to save his from crashing into us head on? What are these idiots thinking?

  8. Funny this topic comes up today. I witnessed something similar this morning. I was in a restaurant on the roadside of moonmuang. Red songteaw parked up outside, waiting for prey. The family sat next to me paid their bill then walked over to this man. The asked how much to Central airport. He said 100 for each of them. Their were 2 parents and 4 small kids. They agreed, he then confirmed 600 baht with the father. The father agreed again. 600!ohmy.png I couldn't believe the drivers luck. He had a massive smile on his face. Before he could even get in his old pick up, he just couldnt resist shouting the result over to his wife who was in the passenger seat. She looked in shock, but then laughed.cheesy.gif

  9. So it takes 10 officers 60 minutes to check 5 cars? So that is ... er ... 2 man hours per car!!!!

Thailand - hub of efficiency whistling.gif

Why can't they do the same as the US/Mexico border at El Paso? Face check every car and search suspect cars/ occupants of interest. No time, eating, drinking beer, sleeping?

Excuse me? You like Mexico/Us border to compare with a checkpoint at a local province in Thailand?

Not atall, but you get my point right? It could be done if they wanted to.

  10. He must have been surprised when they arrested him. Checked in for his flight out of Thailand, must have thought he was free and clear. Amazing work by the BiB.

Not exactly amazing work. Very very easy policing when you have all the cctv to do it for you. Although surprised the bib did actually figure out how to do their job... Nice work lads. Did they not get to keep the cash as a reward for doing their job?coffee1.gif

  11. That restriction has been in place on the Kata - Chalong Patak Rd for a few years. Even have the road signs. Completely ignored as no one enforces the rule.

Again. With the police' attitude, why do they bother making these new laws? Waste of time and public money. Not saying the idea is a bad one. Just saying it won't be enforced...coffee1.gif

  12. Just a reminder: No Thai-Male would consider paying any sort of sin-sod for a Thai-Female, married before (with of without children). Period.

Thai-Male Comment: Never no pay for used P***y.

No wonder that Farangs in the autumn of their lives and not familiar with Thai-Customs are in such demand. Sin-Sod plus building mansion on family land = Jackpot !!

All of the (in the meantime) under-employed bar-hostessess in Pattaya dream of such happy circumstances. But time works against this concept. Farangs are getting "street-smart" and more familiar with "Thai-Ways" including the legal-system that is stacked heavily against them.

    .

    Cheers.

This is very true. Sin sod is not viable for used pu**y. However i agree with the post about showing respect for the family. Their daughter might be soiled goods but if you want to marry the spoiled goods then you must offer them something to save them from losing face. It's not their fault that you got their daughter pregga's before you made a woman out of her. Offer them a sinsod of whatever amount you can afford but make sure you agree that it comes straight back to their daughter. This will give her some security and save the family from losing face infront of the other villagers. It will also start a respectful relationship between the 3 parties involved.

  13. I think that this lady needs to go and spend six weeks in Chiang Mai. That would probably turn her into a kind and humane person who would have positive experiences rather than frustrating ones.

Traffic here is a dream compared to that angry, corrupt little island.wai2.gif
