I seem to be one of the small number of people in the world who are quite happy with Vista Home Premium. I see no reason to change my OS for now.

Just a casual thought. I wonder what Sir Anthony would have made of Thaksin, had they lived in the same era.
His comments about then Foreign Minister Thanat Khoman were absolutely spot on, although no one dared say it at the time.

The photocopy of the title pages of your passport is required by Thai Customs for clearance. It has nothing to do with Fedex. All they will do is show it to the Customs officer for clearance of your goods. Even if your order comes by regular mail you will still have to produce this along with the green Customs form, duty as assessed and VAT when you pick up your package from the post office. If there is no duty then they won't need it.
My experience has been that if vitamin or other pills are involved they will often have to get approval from the Food and Drug Administration. This is usually quite fast.
The passport photocopy or scan is a routine government requirement. There is nothing suspicious or conspiratorial about it. Customs must have acquired enough of mine to paper the walls of several offices over the years.

Quinton Quayle's statement would have served a purpose if he had pointed out that part of the quote was missing and then given the whole quote, which is well-balanced. That would have conveyed the vital information that was missing.
Instead he blathered on contritely about a brand called Amazing Thailand. I think Rumbold would have handled it better.
""And if anybody wants to know what their culture consists of the answer is that it consists of themselves, their excellent manners, their fastidious habits, their graceful gestures and their elegant persons. If we are elephants and oxen they are gazelles and butterflies"
Magnificent! The Thais I know would have loved that.

You mean when the Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh and offices belonging to Thai businesses were burned down back when Thaksin was the prime minister? Timing is the key. Hun Sen is due here tomorrow for the three-day Asean Summit in Cha-Am.
Every time there's an Asean Summit or conference Thaksin always seems to steal the show and grab the headlines just as the regional heads of state arrive. Abhisit disappears off the front pages.
Coincidence? I don't think so. More like superb PR and crafty planning.

If it's the first time you were late that sounds like an over-reaction. Could there be another reason why he wants the room back? Someone who might pay more? A friend or relative coming, for instance.
A lawyer might be able to dig up something but I don't know of any specific rights other than those stated in your contract. If he is not paying tax on your rent he could find himself in trouble with the Revenue Department. That's the kind of avenue a lawyer would pursue.
I was a year late once due to a banking mishap and my landlady (Thai) just laughed about it. She's an angel.

I think this "apology" goes beyond diplomacy and public relations and smacks of political correctness. I wonder if Ambassador Quayle has read all 10 pages of Sir Anthony's valedictory letter. He got a lot right. It is unfortunate that the remarks creating a stir were taken out of context.

Apparently he won't lose his pension. That would take a full disciplinary hearing.
This seems to be more of a token move.

I always declare medications at Customs (anywhere), just to be on the safe side. Never once has this caused a problem. I'm usually waved straight through. Rarely do they even want to look at it.
I once asked at Heathrow and was told that this was the correct policy to follow as it protected me from any misunderstandings.

No, I don't think so. Certainly haven't heard anything about it.
Discriminating between town and country would be well-nigh impossible. People could too easily move around.

You're not wrong

On the other hand you might have to pay someone to take it away and dispose of it. 2,000 baht should do it.

How can BP go after you? You are using a pseudonym to cloak your identity and location. Just as I am.

It marks the official end of Buddhist Lent (Wan Awk Pansa). The Monday is not a public holiday and nothing should be closed that is normally open.

Well, yes in a roundabout way. At least now someone is at the wheel.

If it ain't broke, why fix it?
IT specialists in my company love to keep on fixing things that aren't broke until they are.

I've had two root canals in the last 18 months. One at St Louis Hospital which took three visits and the other at BNH which took two. I would be worried if each session had been reduced to one. Awful problems can result from a rushed job.
Good endodontists are never short of patients here and waiting times for appointments are common. They have a limited time available for each patient which rules out marathon sessions.
My advice would be to trust the dentist you have (you say he's good). Don't complain or he might "forget" the anaesthetic.
Good luck.

Since the OP is travelling around Asia remember that none of these assurances apply to Dubai. The authorities there tend to overreact if they see any medication and there is no benefit of the doubt.

It's final. Verdicts and sentences handed down by the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions do not have a regular avenue for appeal.

Let me endorse this. My very best wishes to His Majesty for a speedy recovery and return to good health.
Long live the King.

I hear the King Power duty-free gift shop at the airport is a good place to get a wallet.

How about Molly Malones? Pleasant decor, Guinness and a great lamb stew. It's on Convent Road just a few doors along on the left from Silom Road. Handy subway and skytrain connections.
Not cheap but this is Bangkok's central business district and priced accordingly.

Is Juthamas still in Thailand? There are rumours going around that she isn't. If she is, she is keeping a very low profile and isn't answering her phone.
Husband Dusit Siriwan also seems to have dropped out of sight.

I'm surprised they have that many.
According to epidemiologists, this live nasal mist vaccine cannot be taken by anyone outside the 2-49 age group, which rules out a key high-risk group. Surprised they chose this over the regular vaccine which is more versatile.

You are right about the Tylenol. I was given 10 tablets when I saw an orthopedic doctor at BNH for treatment after breaking my arm at the elbow in an accident last year.
They didn't help in the slightest. I couldn't even get an injection to ease the pain.
Some years ago a Thai work colleague was denied proper pain relief at Rajvithi Hospital. The doctor treating her told me that as a matter of policy they do not give strong pain management drugs to patients for fear they might become addicted. Logical enough, but this was a terminal case of cancer and she did suffer unnecessarily before she died.
