  1. Since most of today's smart TVs run their own proprietary OS, it still makes sense via a HDMI port to add a TV Box which is able accessing and running apps via Google Play store.

Historically, I'm used to running Kodi on a Minix TV Box (started with the Neo X7) so I'm able play all kinds of video formats from external USB drives using an additional externally powered hub. Propriety OSs of today's Smart TVs are only capable of handling specific subsets of video formats.

    I purchased a Huawei Matepad T10" (4gb + 64gb wifi only) for 4,300bht from Lazada

Price keeps jumping around, but for the money well worth it if you can live without Google/Facebook.

Can this Huawei be used with a smart keyboard also having Thai characters displayed on its keys?

  3. A curved monitor has a relative big display. But dictates the position where you have to sit. Namely in the centre of display. That was a no go in case of having two windows next to eachother on a curved screen. My chair kept moving around just as the mouse. Second, when i remember correctly, the back plate, hiding the cables, was made of cheap modern fragile plastic. So, according my own personal experiences, bigger monitors are not always better, especially wnen they are curved and you've to work with multiple (two) screens next to eachother.

  4. Todays newest Microsoft Windows software developments (such as e.g. XAML, WinRT C++, MSIX deployment, etc.) do all make sense, with the intend to create more pleasurable user experiences for everybody involved. When they do their job well I will hopefully get more time for discovering the world outside of Windows ????

  5. Video about trained ducks which can be hired:

Btw. in the controlled experiment combining housed ducks on banks of ponds and growing carps inside those ponds in India food for ducks was a significant control variable. In my personal experiece with ducks when grass would be present that grass would not be under control, so not be present for a long time....

  6. Sometimes, especially when not having sufficient passengers, a bus still drives, but less frequently. Normally, you'll notice a red sign on a desk at the bus station mentioning the next time of departure. No idea, who, how and whether or not such a rule is applicable to the relative new bus service. One of the advantages of the app is being able to see the bus moving. Guess most of the time, just after having left Big-C, the bus will not be moving much due to the traffic lights and the large amount of traffic in the inner city of Udon. Would be nice if the traffic lights are triggered by the bus.

  7. I'm not an expert. Would'nt know how to pronoune a space in a tonal language. People do inhale oxygen (take a breath of air) while speaking. At such moments in time it's quite difficult to produce a sound.

Know that technically speaking tonal signs do contain invisible dotted circles which must somewhat overlap with the current character count and are being used by an additional Thai interpreter to direct signs to their proper locations. At these reflective moments in time the flow of characters is being delayed due to the additional interpretation of tonal signs required.

Have asked this before at this forum : i'm still searching for accurate corresponding C/C++ source code. Thanks in advance for pointers.

  8. Over a period of 25 years, especially this year, i happen to experience at the end of this rain season on some days an inhouse averaged temperature increase of 2.5 degrees Celsius mainly due to lack of cooling rain during the night. In case the sun does not appear during daytime then under these circumstances washed clothes are quite difficult to dry. People using additional technology such as an airco and a dryer probably do not face these kind of problems.

  9. Looking for somebody who still has a fully functional cover after having installed the latest original Samsung system updates.

Current workaround: order a much more cheap comparable cover via Lazada, and install and check the EveryCover app. That seems to be working well in combination with the latest system update of September 2019.

    Jac.

Do they have AirCon in all decent hospitals?

Yes they have. Because they treat sick people which might suffer under hot temperatures.

When I suffer under hot temperature I do not go to a hospital for treatment ? Entering a shop might be a more cheap solution.

Sometimes life can become pretty complicated. For example, a tracheotomy and an AirCon does not seem to be a healthy combination, especially in a room which has already collected too many dust particles (from visitors). A little bit of suffering under hot temperatures might be one of the options left.

  11. You probably want a PC that will work. That means that somebody else already must have done some homework for you and corresponding testing. If you really want a top-of-the-art PC, then it will not only be expensive, but then it must also be a well-tested one. To me it makes no sense at all to try to assemble such a system on my own. I could do it, but what if some components do not happen to interact well, especially when it's getting hot inside and outside? I did not go for water cooling yet, my decision, but stayed at the top-level just below water cooling. If you know the owners of a shop it could become a great learning experience, but what will be exaxtly delivered at the end of that learning cycle will just be the very well tested latest top-of-the-art machine which probably was already present somewhere on the shelves of a factory. Otherwise people wouldn't earn money anymore ;-)

  12. Windows 10 1803 Spring Update.....Marvelous!???

No, definitely not at the 19th of May 2018 (1 month after the 18th of April 2018) for those machines who do have VT-technology (and VT-d) enabled in BIOS: reboot process will immediately get stuck at the first Windows 10 logo shown at the very first start of the reboot process,  lasting an infinite amount of time. A lot of 1803-related information is available on the internet and it keeps growing. Finding and trying out the properly fitting solution, in this particular case being disabling VT-technology (and VT-d) in BIOS, do cost owners of these machines a lot of time, and time is money.

  13. Would go to a local computer shop and ask them. In my experience an expensive special heavy UPS unit always seems to turn too soon into a source of unhappiness unless you're lucky. Nobody is that lucky. In my opinion too many power outages in an out of warrenty period require a quick availability of a second UPS replacement unit and  a not too expensive replacement policy of bad batteries at the local computer shop:  important factors for keeping a local family business operating as smooth as possible.

    [... snipped ...]

So a machine from the Vista period and earlier is still capable of running Windows 10 with ease.

In fact I have an even older ACER I bought in Thailand, Feb 2007 and that is running Windows 10 Pro 32 bit on 2GB of RAM/HDD. Fine for browsing.

In my experience in 2009 and earlier a relative cheap machine could be equipped with much more surprising functionality at that time than covered by official specs written down on paper.  Later in time the actual functionality of some of the components have been limited, so tend follow the specs more accurately.

  15. Studying and experimenting in C/C++ programming language environment of how to develop a Thai editor.

Currently the incoming characters are presented sequentially on screen, thus one by one. Picture below shows the problem of the actual presence of dotted circles. These dotted circles look like placeholders to me, but do not function yet as placeholders.

Have added a second Thai word to illustrate the situation of having two placeholders. The particular sings above these placeholders do have equal positions in height but are to be positioned on top of each other.

What's the most common strategy to follow in solving these puzzles?

Just wondering. Should I request vector data for each of the characters and so detect the presence of a dotted circle, eliminate the dotted circle vector data, thus simply output the remaining vector data at the previous position at a specific height determined by the count of dotted circles detected? Do other more specific rules exist which need to be followed?

Requesting an elimination of specific vector data is a possibility, which can be done, but this is a rather complex exercise. Do not more easier methods exist?

maybe got it wrong ....  is the OP post saying 17 referring to a 17"  laptop ? or was it meant to be a i7 CPU ?

as 'RichCor' posts are all 15" Laptops.... guess I miss understood what the 17 was..

as I was only looking the other day what 17" laptops where here... not many

FYI, the Skylake CPU was launched in August 2015. Kaby Lake CPU officially launched in January 2017.

OP refers explicitly to "kabylake" which will run Windows 10 only, thus will run none of the earlier Windows operating systems.

I've read somewhere that n this case 15" size seems to be no problem at all for those people who are using their VR glasses ;-)

In such a case, so I've read somewhere, size does not matter anymore. So, OP's choice is a good choice.

At this moment in time I would not pay more than 55.000 Baht and 50.000 Baht is a price too low. Would buy the laptop at its location of usage because in my experience retail prices of well known brands do not differ much between countries, and must go back in case the laptop malfunctions during the first two years of its warranty period.
