Let's be honest, yes Thais are very bad drivers, they do not respect anything and police do not enforce much either. But we are all happy that we can also drive here without license and settle everything with cops with a small bribe.

The day Thailand will have become as safe, strict, policed and boring as our home countries we'll be the first to cry.

So now you understand why I say people should not marry.

As a scarred old biker, i'd just like to note that a huge number of the motorcycle-deaths will of course have been caused by car, truck and bus drivers, not any stupidity on the part of the bikers.

As a younger (I guess) biker, I'd say that one on a 2 wheeler, even in Europe, has to be conscious that a car is always a potential danger and to anticipate all the time that they will commit something dangerous and unexpected, and of course in Thailand they do more then elsewhere. But Thai 2 wheelers fly to their death.

They use bank notes as ballot papers.

Drunk driving, speeding, no seatbelt...and also the fact that they drive completely carelessly, without any conscience of nothing. Their absence of care for other users of the roads amazingly differs from the general thai gentleness.

I also rode a bike in India, it looks even more chaotic but I don't remember having had the feeling it was as dangerous as here.

Fortunately the remarkable attitude of most Thais (not shared by their politicians btw) contrasts with those taking the opportunity of these devastating floods to spill their pathetic short-sighted frustrations.
