  1. YoungBrit,

You missed a great night last night, a nice discounted couple of beers and John's place then on down Loy Kroh for some Halloween shenanigans!

Dave, we should do it again this weekend, without the costumes of course! 5555

  2. What time at John's place? How did you get a discount card there expat? WTK, what are you doing for costume now?

It is for serious expats aka 'expat mak maks' only.

Not many people can get them.

Don't worry though, I can get you and YoungBrit a beer on my card, I'm sure Winnie has one too.

Out of interest Winnie, what costume did your daughter wear with the devil's trident? I want to know if mine is better! 555

  3. You mean the private message where you invited me but that I havn't replied too?

Well I assumed that if you're young then you'd be on the beer tonight... it's bloody halloween!

So see you at John's Place then, I'll let you use my discount card for a cheaper beer, let the normal rabble pay normal prices! 5555

Wait until you see my costume, bloody brilliant!

  7. Be sure to share information if you find it, I'd bloody love to celebrate Halloween so I'll come with you Winnie, I'll be all costumed up, balls shiny.

If you're not sure where a bar or place is, just ask me, I know Chiang Mai like the back of my Frankenstein mask! 55555

  8. I'd bloody love to have spotlight outside my apartment, I wouldn't have to walk too far to see some slappers! 55555!

Maybe the Farang guy likes to sleep and relax in his home, crazy isn't it, fancy getting angry when you're disturbed and prevented from sleeping by some happy go lucky plebs in the next building.

up the wattage! that's what I say!

  9. 1194 km.

From city center to city center, by a sober, long-distance crow.

With these types of questions, all you have to do is draw a line on Google maps and it tells you how many kms. (or miles).

maybe he is in the middle of a quiz right now, and looking for some help!!!

Think you could be bloody right Eyecatcher! If someone sees a quiz competitor fiddling on his phone (hopefully!) under the table then there's a good chance its our good friend Lake!

By the way, are you THE Lake Palmer?

  10. Wow, this is insanity. I'm not an expert in the Thai culture but isn't tipping not a traditional practice here? But now people want to go beyond western practices and tip everybody clever enough to put out a box?

While I'm not an expert in Thai culture, I have lived in several countries and a common practice by westerners is to toss money about freely like this. From conversations with the people in several different countries, this doesn't earn respect or gratitude as much as confirm the impression that westerners are big dopes that throw away their money if the locals just play a certain subservient role. In a lot of cases it actually breeds resentment because it's just another version of the great white father bringing fire to the natives.

Well I am pretty much an expert on Thai culture, after all I have been here a very long time.

    I don't tip at 7/11, that's bloody ridiculous!

The only places I tip at are restaurants, bars and the 108 shops.

  11. Where can I buy blue rubber bands? I know my way around Chiang Mai better than most, but this one has got even me bloody stumped! Any shade of blue will do. I've tried asking for both light blue and dark blue, as in Thai they are two different colours (see fah and see namnern). But to no avail!
