  1. I'd like to know how come the lady cleaners get to walk in at any time during my visit to the toilet.

It can be quite embarrassing standing in front of the urinal during the cold season. -)

No problem during other times of the year.... No really!

Thats the beauty of Morchit bus station,Bkk pay your 3bt and you have ladies mopping up around you, standing at the urinal, lifting the right leg then the left; and they are right there to catch any drips.

but forgetting to be prepared and take the paper with you...when its too late, is not good.

and last time I was around Bangla it was 10bt a shake, yet another reason to come to Chiang mai

Do they also provide this 10b shake service in macdonalds? Might explain David's sticky problem (puns bloody intended makmak). 5555555555555555555555555555555

Jokes aside it's not fair to tar all the toilet cleaners with the same brush. I've never been offered extras and I've cheed in Bangla a fair few times! Most of the girls are just looking for a simple honest imcome. :wai:

  2. Tattoos are bloody dirty so how can a place specialising in the things be clean?

When I need ink I go to WH Smith or any other reputable stationers (B2S in Kad Suan Kaew springs to mind) and make a capital purchase! As for drawing on yourself, Mai ow! No thanks! My son went through a phase of drawing on him self when he was stupid. Thank buddha he is no longer stupid or three years old!

As for the rest of you. Do you really want to encourage more tattooed oaths to come to Chiang Mai and ruin the place for the rest of us expats that actually live here? :wai:

  3. re .. Welcome to the Chiang Mai Forum, where food is a serious topic

and so it should be : )

    dave2

I recognise this sunday roast, Sweetheart bar I think??

I believe no one who says they can recognise a potato or a yorky.....but that blue checked plastic table cover must be unique, surely this is the only place with such horrendous taste in tableware. where is it?

Punpun's tableware is not far behind! 55555

  4. Doubleeight please tell us who you are talking about.Archers or the Old Bell? Both ladies in those restaurants are lovely. Beer are Sa are their names!

The Old Bell. i wont make this remark if it was a one off. but repeatedly shocked by the lack of respect, service and attitude of lady!

I sense a stitch up double eight. Member registers on 19th July and 2 days later is slagging Beer off. Still just in case you are genuine:

Are you sure that was Beer? We had a day girl who was somewhat brusque with customers and she has now departed. All I can say is that if it was my wife you must have really upset here over something. Usually she's very 'customer orientated' but if you spoke badly to her, she'd do the same back and I don't blame her. Some details would help: approximate dates, times and specifics of the incidents.

Bloody obvious! Last week a lady had a pompem about the portions not being big enough. Now someone pops up out of the blue calling themselves 'doubleeight' and you all fail to see the connection. Not me. My ex, amongst other things, regularly played bingo. doubleeight or 88 is a bloody bingo code for two fat ladies. Obviously she's teamed up with a friend and are trying to take business away from the Olde Bell.

Pedr, I'll be in for my free cheese on toast in the next few days. :wai:

  5. If getting a sandwich through the usual channels doesn't work for you, you could try tracking down this guy http://www.thaivisa....andwich-permit/

And he's still doing a roaring trade! While I was away, amongst other things, my son tried one of his baguettes and actually said it was bloody good! Personally it will take more than 'bloody good' for me to order one of the things.Plenty of decent sandwich shops around Chiang Mai without going down that route! Amazing sandwich is one of the better ones. It is not crap! Must say I Preferred the original location though... wai.gif

  6. Your local Salaphet vendor should know, why not ask herrolleyes.gif

I've really missed them! especially the moo daeng ones! aloy!

As for the ghosts in those buildings..... ghosts shmosts! 55555555!!!!!!!!

How do you spell "aloy" in Thai?

    MSPain

offtopic.gif (Mai Kon Deal! your not the only one though!) Aloy means delicious in central Thai. In Northern Thai it is pronounced Aroy or another Lanna word is used. As for spelling in Thai, I'll give you a hint. One of the vowels/sala is definitely sala-phet!!! 55555

Swiftly back ON topic. Some great suggestions for interesting buildings in Chiang Mai guys! Surprised there is not more information or even tours of these Chiang Mai gems. Many cities around the world have ghost walks. Might not work here as the Thai people are very scared of pee ghosts almost as much as they are scared of walking! 5555! Mr. Farang is much more interested in both and it could be a great addition to the tours offered here.

  7. Sawadee khrap TV'ers!

    I'm back!

I've been away a while visiting family and making some capital purchases in old Blighty. Or should I say 'not very Brighty! 555!!!!!!!.

My time visiting family in the UK further set in stone my love for this bloody lovely city! I love it mak mak.

I've got a quick question, does anyone know what the bloody hell the greek/roman styled buildings are on the north-west inner corner of the moat? I've been here an extremely long time but this one has got my brain on the fritz!

  8. Mrs. Expatmakmak and I spent this afternoon searching for a plastic tray to make ice lollies. It was bloody horn mak mak! I know Chiang Mai very well, probably better than my phariya! We tried all the usual places and even some less usual ones too. But to no avail!

Does anyone else know where to find a plactic tray to make nam keng lollies?

  9. re /

Many places I went to last summer are no longer here and many new ones have popped up

hes right ... pinkys is no more ; ( ... its now guinness bar : )

    dave2

Was never a fan of pinkys. Could be to do with the bloody huge pink penis they had outside the shop. Mai aroi mak mak. Before the gay police jump on me. I'm not homophobic in the slightest. Each to his own, but not when I'm eating. wai.gif

  10. does anyone get the feeling hellodolly and 'Dave' are best friends??

Honest unbiased opinions please hellodolly, anyone would think you've got a 'steak' in the restaurant! pun intended! 55555555!

  11. why have an expensive camera when you are in Thailand walking around in Songkran , maybe its you who did not think.

I agree why have an expensive camera/video player out during Songkran!

ER TV cameras were out, reporters were out, are you saying they should not be? ( I don't need an answer)

And how many of the real reporters do you see complaining about songkran, and bragging about their equipment on Thaivisa? Mai mee! Just you, two years running! Very bloody farrang mak mak! jap.gif

  12. Bloody stupid mak mak! If the camera was protected then why complain? Stupid! If the camera wasn't protected why were you walking around a bloody water fight with it? Stupid!

Farrangs will be farrangs. It's the farrangs with no common sense that I despair of. As an expat with over 700 posts on Thaivisa, you should know better!jap.gif
