  1. I fail to see how this problem is specific to Chiang Mai. It sounds like the OP has more of a cultural issue that a Chiang Mai issue. Immerse yourself a little more in Thai culture, rather than building a bloody 4 sided concrete wall around yourself to keep it out! Move to General forum dee-gwar. You will get more replies.jap.gif

  2. I got sprayed by the flower watering machines while riding over the Ping River bridge. Does that count?

No it doesn't and you should be more careful as the water from the 'flower watering machines' may have contained number 16. jap.gif

  3. Not a blinking drop in my neck of the woods.

I counted well over 50 drops falling over 5-10 seconds on the ground at our house but they did not join up to make even a decent mini puddle! Perhaps the strong wind blew it to Burma. wink.png

That's what I call a bloody weather report! Sud yort! jap.gif

  4. "farrang food I usually turn to the Red Lion to fill my hole though this dukes burger bar is fast become a bit of a favourite."

3 mistakes in here; may I advise not to mix up the languages; its screws around with one's intelligence.

    Probably an English teacher.

I agree that Dukes is quite good.

555 She definately acts like one!

Although not the cheapest, the Dukes does represent good quality food. I can appriciate this must be difficult to maintain in a francise. As I said before, hopefully this will sort out over time as I know David is very passionate about his product and has worked hard to build the Dukes name up.

  5. Passingas, you normally need at least 50 posts to receive help here, but I'll help you anyway. Two of the best shops are actually quite close to each other. As you leave town on Suppan Narrarat (the large bridge at the end of Tha Pae road) turn left at the second set of fai dangs (traffic lights) after the bridge. There are two shops on the right a couple of hundred meters after the turn. If I remember correctly the two metal shops are less than 100 meters apart. They have many kinds of metal mak mak. If they don't have what your after they would know somewhere else that would.jap.gif

  6. Yes I've been around a lot long than four months!

I was too active on another message board to spend much time here thank you very much! In fact I used to be a moderator and a bloody good one.

I know how hard and stressful it is being a moderator, I was forced to walk from my last posting as a moderator. Not happy memories mak mak! annoyed.gif

So I want the moderators to know that I know just how difficult their jobs are. jap.gif

  7. I've been here a very long time and am still high on Thai mak mak! Chiang Mai is a great place and once you speak the language and know where to go, you will never tire of it!

Keep us informed as to when you can speak the language then, as your making a piss poor job in most of your posts.

I'm sorry if you feel like I was competing with you by using Thai language. That was not the intention. I assumed that most of the long term expats on an expat's forum would be able to understand the local language. And for the the newbies perhaps they would be able to learn something. Like separating the wheat from the chaff in way where both wheat and chaff benefit. This, in my opinion, is much nicer than simply asking 'how long have you been here?' in order to establish a pecking order.

    Chok dee! jap.gif
