Cheap hotel..........if its only for the visa run you could try The Apex on the 2nd road its fairly cheap at 500 baht ish. ......if you can stretch to 1000 baht/night the Lek hotel would be a good choice as it is at the top of Soi 13 / 2nd road literally 1 min walk to Sportsman. http://www.asiatravel.com/lek/
again very much thanks....your very friendly

Ive thrown my last receipt for Five Star Visa runs out but here is the number for The Sportsman where they operate out of they should be able to help you.....038-710609. Easiest way for the bus is if you ask to get off at Pattaya Klang (Central/middle Road).....get off the bus and walk across Sukhumwit and start walking down Pattaya Klang you/ll see Songthaews (baht buses ) on the left get in one (making sure he is going down to the beach road and not turning off)......he/ll work his way along the beach road when you see a big department store named Mikes, Soi 13 is 2 soi's on the left after this......get off walk up the Soi and the Sportsman is halfway up on the right. (alternatively pay a little more and charter the baht bus to soi 13,this way he/ll know where to take you). Remember you need to be at the Sportsman by 6am.
thanks very much for the help.....6pm seems be hard to do, so I guess I must hit the Pattaya one day earlier (like tonight)
btw: is there any cheap hotel there somewhere for lets say 2 nights?

ok, so it looks like the:
Epress Visa at soi post office or
Five star visa run at soi 13, are the best options for the visa run tomorrow or friday, right?
now, me go by bus from bangsaen, hopefully arriving at time in Pattaya (never been there before).....where do I stop the bus the best (if that is an option) in order to get as close as possible to one of the above soi??
and phone numbers to the above, if you can get them easily, would be nice to have so its not fully booked when I arrive....

There are many travel agents in Pattaya offering day return visa trips to the Thai border.
The best I have used is Express Visa on Soi Post Office 2300 baht return including Cambodian Visa breakfast and packed lunch. (Everyday)
I like this company as they are the quickest I have experienced. Leaving Pattaya at 7am and returning at around 2:30pm.
Mr Boon (Soi Post Office again) offers a cheaper alternative at 2000 baht on Wednesdays or Sundays(Coach as opposed to minibus) but whenever I have gone with this company the turnaround time at the border has been around 5 hours meaning a 7pm return time.
do you have a phone number to the Express Visa ?
I don't have the number to hand but I will find out tonight when I pass and post it tomorrow morning.
did you find the number?

Penang only issue visa's on weekdays. And never on public holidays. Two of which falls in Febuary 1st & 22nd.
Good point , dont forget when planning your trip its not just Thai public holidays that the Consulate is closed for but also Malaysian public holidays.
maybe its even easier to just do the 1 day a month ride pattaya/cambodja á 2300bath......question is if one actually save some time doing the 3 day malasia trip.....and hardly any money....well, I dont know
-
thanks very much all............btw: Ive heard that overstay of ones visa cost 50bath per day....well, that cant be true can it? (that would be 1500bath a month leaving one with "profit")
It's not true. The overstay fee is 200 baht a day and it will cost you a ###### of a lot more if you get caught on overstay before you make it to the border.
Overstaying Thai visas is for losers - don't even think about it.
200bath X 30 = 6000bath a month......so already there am I sold on the idea not doing it......thanks

For that price not really. There are some places around for that price but they are pretty grim.
I'd say if you want comfort and amentites within kicking distance from the action add at least another 4000B and even then you'll have some looking around to do.
Take your time as well. Sod's law applies when flat hunting in BKK in my experience. As soon as you don't think you'll find anywhere better and settle for something, a real cracker will turn up just as you've paid up!!
yea, thats seems to be part of life.....maybe thats why one should be a little bit more: jai jen jen
anyway....I could put up another 4000bath if its right...no problem
but its a lot about contacts...I really dont have em in Bangkok...do you?

sure there was some 1 rooms for 4000 and 6000bath so on...but no fun places at all...and it takes a ´songteo and then a bus and then the skytrain to hit all the fun...AND ofcource the rooms has splitted phone lines giving me big problems on the net (which I sure cant have sittin there playing some poker)
so...its not easy right....gettin an decent room/living with an dedicated phoneline as well as "not too hard getting to da fun" for a decent price is it????????????????
IS IT!????

actually, im a little lost here, see ifyou can help me out
1) in Sweden I got a tourist visa for 60 days
2) I have in Bangsaen got another 30 days (1900bath) and that one last till 30 january
3)now, what can I do the best (intending to stay several more months in thailand...atleast to the end of april)????
You will either have to make the one day trip to Cambodia every 30 days or fly to somewhere like Penang, Malaysia for 2/3 days and apply for a new sixty day tourist visa and extend it for 30 days on expiry.
If you are looking at several more months go to Penang and apply for a double entry tourist visa that will give you a further 180 days here (with two 30 day extensions at local immigration and 1 border run at the 90 day stage...........this option is a lot less hassle than running to the border every 30 days in my opinion.
regarding the double entry....is that 60 days and 30 extension and then 60 days (from cambodja) and then another 30 days of extension...?
seems like im running out of time here.....guess I take the cambodja 30 day this week and after that do the smart one (when you explained it so the swede understand )
thanks anyway

Sorry i/m a bit slow today, this 60 day visa have you extended it by 30 days at local immigration within Thailand already ? If you have not you need simply to go to Pattaya Immigration in Soi 8 and apply for a 30 day extension the fee is 1900 baht.....you/ll need passport photos and copies of your passport but there is a little booth just outside the immigration office which will do them for you.im looking for another 60days visa.....that would be ab re-entry stamp I guessyepp, had the 30days extended already....so now I must out of the country and hopefully get another 60days

By new visa i assume you mean a 30 day stamp (or a re-entry stamp on an existing visa)..........as you cannot get a "new" visa at the border. If so "Five Star visa runs" who operate out of The Sportsman on Soi 13 are one of the best........choice of Smoking or Non Smoking mini bus.....breakfast at the Sportsman....(2300 baht all inc.) ....packed lunch on way back.........and back into Pattaya at 3pm.........they do the run to Poi-Pet (service everyday). ..........maximum 5 people on bus. Another alternative is The Visa Shop in Soi Bourkhao (bottom of Soi Diana) you do the run to Pong Nam Ron (sp?) similar set up ....longer journey , but less time at the border......this run is only available on a Monday however.
im looking for another 60days visa.....that would be ab re-entry stamp I guess
is that Five star visa run, starting at 7 in the morning?...you have an phone number?

I have a philosophy that we 'choose' nothing whatsoever in our lives... nothing at all... Life just happens and we experience that happening. But that's another story.
ofcource we do.....I mean...you do it all day long, dont you?
will you answer this comment from me?.......who:s choice......??
nothing just happens...what happens for sure is an effect....so something/someone MUST have CAUSED it.....right?
Im pretty sure....in your life...YOU did it!!
everything you done sofar.....is why you are where you are in the condition you are in.......good or bad....you did it
Hi mrmike, My previous post 'might' explain to you what I mean by having no choice. I am not so good at English language, but tried to explain what I think the best I can.
Let us say that you are "choosing" to buy a house. You 'calculate'... first the place, the price you can afford... etc etc. You end up with a town and a price range. Say there are 6 houses that 'suit' your purposes. Of the six, two are too far away from your workplace... two are too close to your mother-in-law or ex-wife, whatever. This leaves you with two houses. One has a very big garden and you love gardening... or if you hate gardening you go for the smaller garden. You end up with one house and buy it. THAT house was the house you were always going to buy, even before you started looking for one. The others were always going to be 'out' of your calculations for various reasons... not necessarily those stated above.
now were back at the start.....survival.....you basically says the calculatus is what decides it all.....but the calculus (right or wrong....from mother, father or religion or whatever)....is still something you, at some time, did make up your mind with based on survival........god knows were for sure do a lot of bad decisions, choice so on (based on false datum, false facts so on)...but still we are doing our best....anyhow, so sad that our minds are so full of all that crap from everywhere..

You never been there? Come on man, you must be kidding!
no kiddiing...never beet to Bangkok...
