  1. This qualifying campaign was pretty much f***ed after the first 2 or 3 games under Vogts.

Was a dissapointing result especially after the last couple of games, but to be honest we should have had 2nd place sown up long ago - we still needed Norway to drop points anyway and that was always unlikely.

Pretty much sums up our luck when a goalbound shot is blocked on the line by one of our own players.

Smith has restored a bit of pride and belief again - if he continues then hopefully we can qualify for Euro 2008.

(and it is annoying that England have qualified - at least Beckham got sent of for no reason - always good for a laugh)

  2. Was just told that someone who talked to the tessaban today was informed that from 15-20 Sept there will be a major power cut on the island for repair work to be carried out.

Apparently big hotels have been informed they will have to run generators during this period and extra generators will be brought in by the tessaban to assist.

I find it hard to believe the whole island will be without power for the full 5 days - more likely to be different areas at different times.

When I asked why this wasn't widely publicised I was told it was 'Thai style'.

Has anyone else heard anything about this? It does seem a bit far fetched but the source was reliable !

  3. Falkirk 1-1 Rangers

Substitute Daniel McBreen's superb header gave Falkirk a share of the spoils to further dent Rangers' hopes of retaining the Scottish title.

Craig Ireland's tug on the shirt of Thomas Buffel had given Nacho Novo the chance for the opener and the Spaniard slotted home the penalty kick.

Falkirk goalkeeper Matt Glennon denied a lethargic Rangers several times.

And McBreen rose to head home an Alan Gow cross before Glennon saved superbly late on from Barry Ferguson.

Fit-again Hamed Namouchi had been a surprise name in the Rangers starting line-up along with the returning Sotirios Kyrgiakos.

New signing Francis Jeffers was on the bench along with Marvin Andrews after the defender's late return from international duty.

Falkirk were without Andrews' Trinidad and Tobago team-mate Russell Latapy, while former Rangers youth Darryl Duffy was only deemed fit enough for the bench.

But fellow forward Alan Gow put Rangers under early pressure, being denied by goalkeeper Ronald Waterreus from a free-kick.

Thomas Buffel should have put Rangers ahead but fired across the face of goal and wide of the target.

Gow surged into the Rangers box only for Waterreus to save at the former Airdrie forward's feet.

Rangers went ahead when the referee ruled that Buffel had been held back by Ireland and Novo slotting low past goalkeeper Matt Glennon.

Jeffers was given his first taste of Scottish football, replacing Buffel after the break and Glennon was quickly forced into a fine save and parry from the striker's shot.

Falkirk boss John Hughes sent on McBreen and Duffy and his brave attempt to salvage the game paid off with 12 minutes remaining.

Steven Thomson's quick free-quick was met by Gow, who delivered an inch-perfect cross to the head of McBreen and the young striker left Waterreus with no chance from close range.

Rangers skipper Ferguson could have snatched the winner with a point-bank strike but was denied by a wonderful save from Glennon.

Can't even beat Falkirk - you won't have much chance against Porto !! And only 15 different sectarian songs - who says bigotry is dead.

  4. It's great to see their domination of Scottish football may have come to an end.

Reminds me of the 80's when Aberdeen were the best team in Scotland, and Europe one year.

Rangers beaten 3-0 by Hearts and 3-2 by Aberdeen in the last 2 weeks.

    Wonderful.

Alex McLeish and Gordon Strachan were great pplayers but not managers.

Aye and Falkirk will hump the Huns in a fortnight.

    (I'll get my coat)

  5. You are aware that your visa type can be changed by immigration office inside Thailand now at the cost of 2,000 baht so it would not be that big a problem (unless the job is not enough to allow extensions of stay).

I do have some doubt that an O visa obtained for a visit should be used for employment.  If for support Thai wife do not believe there would normally be any problem and I would say to fight to use it.  As a retirement (long stay) is also an O type visa and employment is not supposed to be possible it seems a contradiction that all non immigrant visas can be used for employment but as we all know 'things happen'.

I do not believe you have any legal problem.  If they accept it fine.  If not do what they ask.

I had a non immigrant O multiple entry visa, issued from Hull and using the same reason. Again it was stamped 'employment prohibited', but applied for and got a WP without any problems.

  6. Braveheart and Trainspotting - 2 movies I have watched countless times and never tire of.

    Scottish Nationalist perchance?

You beat me to it! :o Historically, this film is nonsense, but it gives some Scots a reason to feel aggrieved at the English, so it's good viewing for them. :D:D

Not complete nonsense - the bits about beating the English are true :D We don't beat them at much so of course it makes us feel good.

But no I am not a Nationalist - let's face it there is the part in Trainspotting where they go out into the middle of nowhere and we are treated to a rant about how crap a country we are - hardly the stuff of Nationalist propaganda !

Ah <deleted> it's true - we all hate the English :D:D

  7. What would happen if you didn't have 500B for the tax? Can't be too uncommon an occurance. I guess the airline would have to pay for you if you were really stuck.

Happened to me last year. Only had about 350 baht left, no problem I'll just go to the ATM - unfortunately they were all out of service or were responding with ' communication error'.

Was getting a bit worried so I went back to the check-in and explained my predicament. They gave me the 150 baht. They didn't seem at all surprised, so as you say it must be quite a common occurence.

  8. Thanks for all the suggestions.

The 'shoot the messenger' tool doesn't make any difference as it seems to block Windows Messenger Service which is different to Windows Messenger.

I managed to get Windows Messenger to reappear in the toolbar but it still insists on starting automatically even though I unchecked the box.

I now have 2 icons in the toolbar, one for Windows Messenger and one for MSN 6.2

I will give the System Configuration option a try later.

    Cheers.

PS I don't think you can remove Windows Messenger with add/ remove programmes

  9. After installing MSN 6.2 I tried to make it my default messenger program. Seemed to work for a while, but now Windows Messenger is signing in automatically and running in the background whenever I go online.

Can be a problem when I don't really want to be seen online. Only knew it was running when messages would pop up when I thought I wasn't signed in.

I can't even find the Windows Messenger program to disable it now.

Would be grateful if anyone could advise as it can be a pain in the bum at times.

    Cheers.

  10. Another good result for you.

It's just too easy at the moment, but I can see a hiccup coming up. Airdrie on Sunday and they are on form then Partick on Wednesday with that bar steward Lambie back in charge (he is so hated at Falkirk he will have them right up for it.)

PS Do you know anything about a young Rangers player called Charlie Adam ? We are supposedly interested in signing him. If hes anything like Darryl Duffy I'll take him !

  11. It's the 25th all civilised people know that.

I remember when I worked for a travel agency some guests called me on the morning of the 25th to go and see them in their hotel.

I got there and and they asked me if I had had a good Christmas.

I managed to suppress my true feelings.

    Heathens.
