  1. I'm useing bitlord with uPnP enabled on the router and the software and still it just sits there and does nothing. I disable my software firewall.

Do I have to up load something first? Why is this so complicated? Should I just pay one of those sites that say "No Uploads Needed". I have alot of computer experience and I have no desire to figure this out. I just want free files.

  2. Thanks for the info. I remember filling out a form at the US embassy claiming I'm not married. I guess it makes sense that the form and divorce papers are all I need.

You were married to a Thai in Thailand who now you have a US divorce from and she lives in the US and you now want to marry another Thai in Thailand?

I really don't want to get married again but shes flying out soon and I wanted to know if I needed her. I live here now so no hurry to "buy the cow".

  3. Hi, I was just wondering how fast the internet is in LOS. Is the speed the same in Pattaya as Bangkok. How does the service compare with DSL or cable internet here in the states. Thanks, Win

Read the post from this morning on slow internet. It seems to be a very complicated issue. I live in cm and had slow adsl from tot and then complaind and now im very satisfied. I pay 1k baht $25 us and get download speeds of about 70kbs from a good site.

I always got fast service and english speaking operaters. Not english speaking techs. They didn't fix the probelm fast but always gave it ther best shot. when I complained. It ended up being a crowded line and they swithched me.

    good luck

  4. Good to get media with some level of guarantee on the spec plus metered corporate bandwidth can be a good alternative to cheapest consumer BW, and significanlty less expensive than fixed monthly rate corporate BW packages.

I wonder if they switched mine because I complaind and told them I wanted my money back. I payed for the goldcyber 1024 package and my connection would constanly get lost in la la land. It was slow to unusable. I called the owner of the house. Her and her family own many houses in this area of cm and own the hotel at the end of the street.

She called and complaind after I complaind may times. It started working a few days later. She called me and the Tech from tot at the same time. The tech asked if it was working better and I said yes its working much better. He said he switched my line from a home line to something else. (this was the owners translation). He said there were to many costomers on the other line. I don't know if it was a physical wire change or a configuration change.

Maybe my complaints and my owners relationship with TOT got me one of those corperate lines. I'm and electrical engineer and am very experienced with computers but not much of an IT or networking guy.

  5. My connection has been kicking ass lately. Last two days I've been gettin full download speeds I paid for. I live in cm have tot adsl and it was slow to unusable the last two months. I posted my situation a week ago.

last two days though have been faster then ever. I downloaded a 40m file from samsung and the speed was about 100kbs. I have the goldcyber 1024 package.

  6. That sucks! I would go crazy after that.

Mine never got fixed untill I had the Thai owner call and tell them to cancel. She and her family built and rent several houses in this area and own the hotel at the end of the street.

I wonder if her status got me extra attention.

    good luck

  7. Just leased a house for a year in Chiang Mai and the owner signed me up for TOT ADSL. I have the gold cyber 1024kbs for 1000b a month. I got the combined modem / wireless router. It was slower then a dial up service when it worked good and almost unusable the rest of the time. It would take 30 seconds just to open a text email on yahoo.

I complained and they did give me good service. They checked the line remotely that day and sent some one out the next day. They said the line was working at full speed and when the guy got to my home it happened to be working better. It never came close to 1024kbs but it was tolerable so I let him go.

Then the slowness and lost connections came back. I told the owner they should return all my money since they sold something they can't deliver. In a few days it started working fast and reliable. 30-70kbs when downloading. I doubt this is gold cyber speeds but it was 2-10kbs before.

The owner called me and the service center at the same time and we all talked. The owner translated. They asked me if it was better , I said yes. They told me they switched my line from a home line to something else (owner translation). They said there were too many customers on the line I was on and that the new line wouldn't be full for another year or so.

I thought this might interest people with similar problems. I don't know how there infrastructure works so I don't know if they physically switched a wire some where or if its a configuration thing on there computers.

    Chok-dee

  8. I just bought a battery for my laptop from batteryvalues.com in the US. The Sony replacement is four time more here in Thailand. After I bought it they emailed me that since its the USPS - US postal service, there is no traking number. I had it shipped to my house in Chiang Mai.

Does anyone know what happens to it when it gets here or any info on how to track it. I know were the UPS, DHL and FEDx shops are but I can't seem to find the USPS in Thailand (ha ha).

I got upset and email them that I'm disputeing the charge but I thought I would look into it more before I "go off" on them any further. I told them I would never have gone through them without getting a tracking number or at least the name of the company in thailand that will get it.

Maybe I'm making a big deal out of nothing, maybe it will arrive on my door step some day.

    Any info will be appreciated.

  9. I came to Thailand several years ago and married in Bangkok. Shes in the US now and we got a divorce there. I live in Thailand now and heard that she has to be here for me to get a divorce here. Then someone told me if i have my divorce papers I'm free to get married again here in Thailand if I want.

Anyone know the law. I have my divorce papers from the courts in the USA.

  10. I just bought a Honda 125 cc Wave-I for 47,700 out the door with one free year of insurance. The sticker price was 50,300. It was very simple once you get your prove of residence from the immigration office near the airport.

There is a recent thread about that.

I ordered the color I wanted from the shop near the Tapei bridge and it came in with used hand grips. They offered to clean them and I laughed and walked out. I hear sometimes when you get your bike fixed they will take new parts and replace them with old parts.

  11. All the bikes are at the end of the parking lot sectioned off for bikes. Same as in the shopping centers. There is a security booth within feet, oops meters. I think those sections are my only option. The security guard would see anything that went on but for all know thats who tells the thiefs were the good bikes are.

Don't get me wrong. I've spent a total of about 1.5 years here and have never experienced theft first hand, but I've never owned a bike before and I hear they will just lift it into a truck a go.

It's been my experience that the Thai people are very trust worthy.

  12. Is this why my connection is so slow and intermittent? I just had ADSL installed in my house. Its in my landlords name and the box say TOT on it. I payed for the full 1000 KBS for 1000 baht a month and the connections is horrible. Its slow and intermittent.

Is there a way to drop the packkage down to the 256kbs for 500 baht or is there a problem that can be fixed. I'm going to talk to my land lord and maybe call the company but I'm betting neither will help.

Checking my yahoo mail takes about 30 seconds just to open and email. Poker stars is always delayed and disconnecting ( Maybe I shouldn't complain too loudly about that one).

    Any advice please.

  13. I just talked to CTE (Chiang Mai Tech. Eng.) I'll get the dynasat F1 move, which i hear is the same as the silver set. It does have a card slot but i thought the silver set had two card slots.

7.5' dish 18" actuator and some other stuff, but it was the top of the line package for 17,900 Baht (special promotion for me), one year support.

He said dream works now but he can't guarantee it will work for ever. I figure if he warned me then there is a real chance that it will go soon.

    I'll probably go for it.

  14. I just installed one about a month ago, its Dynasat with C & KU band, came with a 7.5ft diameter dish, good reception. Prices varies from company to company. If you need the contact please let me know.

I just got a number for psisat on mahidol rd. Any other contacts would help.

Is everthing free after install or are some channels scrambled? do the boxes descramble/decode also?

  15. I just sign a one year lease on a house in Chiang Mai and need American channels. I watch alot of TV and want FOX News. Just noticed UBC doesn't have FOX news on there listings at the same time heard about this other option.

I read on htis site you can pay a one time 17,000-20,000 baht price and get a dish and decoder that will pickup several sats for free. We have the same in the USA.

Anyone with experience with this option? Is there constant changes to the decoder to keep it running (similar to the hacking free to air in USA)?

    Does it have FOXS news?

Thanks in advance, I admit I'm and american couch potato.

  16. Despite the perceived reputation of farang in Thailand, in my experience most men (and farang women) seem to want to settle down after the initial 'kid in a candy shop' thing.

I like the way you said that. Its exactly what happend to me. I've decided to live in Chiang Mai and have been here three months. After going to pattaya on vacation a few times in the past and having fun ('kid in a candy shop'), I decided to go last week for the first time since I've been here and the whole thing made me sick.

I just want to meet the the right lady and settle down. I know all the warnings.

  17. I play all the time and would love to talk to other people that play. I play PokerStars Tournaments and make a fair profit every month but I think I need to talk to other people about my weak areas to help me get better.

I've been in Chia Mai for 3 months and may make it my home.
