Planning to sit all 4 in the December session. Not ready for it, but who knows when the next one will take place... I'm trying to find any syllabus or materials to study but no luck. How do you prepare for it?

My  thoughts exactly! The 'test blueprint' is on the ksp website where we registered but it doesn't give much scope for what exactly we need to revise. I am going to try and see if I can find out more this weekend, please let me know if you find anything! I figured I may as well give this test a try so that even if I fail at least I will know better what to expect next time round.

  2. Hello,

I have heard from a few people at different schools that there may be a December TCT professional knowledge exam with the application process opening in November. At the moment nothing has been posted on the KSP website, but if anyone hears any details or updates please can you post them here? I will do the same.

    Many thanks ????

I see you wrote a long time ago, but I wanted to clarify if you found any more information? SaintRobertsGroup seems to be closed forever. Thanks.

Looking on their website they still appear to be going ahead as usual. As far as I am aware everyone (that has completed their education qualification) is still in the same position as before - waiting for the next KSP exam.

This is my understanding too. Though, Krusapa told me the exam might be twice a year.

What I'd really like to know is amid all these changes what's their stance on how many waivers you can get while waiting to take the test?

(especially considering there weren't any tests available in 2020 or 2021 due to covid; so our only opportunity since the 2019 change has been one test earlier this year in February)

There will be a lot of people sitting on their 4th waiver now and they didn't have much of a chance to sit the test.

Yes I was informed that there might be a second test later on this year, but I'm yet to hear more. I'm nearing the end of my 4th waiver now having stupidly wasted the first two when I wasn't aware of the KSP waivers/rules/the impact it would have. My 4th waiver expires early next year, so hopefully I'll have sat and passed the exam by then, if not, I guess we will find out. It's not much fun being in this position of constant worry that's for sure.

  5. As far as I am aware you need:

A year of full time study in education from an accredited university (diploma or postgrad). Then you can apply for the TCT exam which is annually in February by the looks of it, unless you completed your study pre-2019, in which case you don't need to sit the exam and can apply immediately.

If anyone knows if this has changed again please let me know!

  6. I'm so sorry for your friend and her husband. I don't really have any words of advice but wanted to say that you are so wonderful and kind for being there. Honestly, I think that is all you can do is be there for her, and perhaps encourage her to speak to someone about what she is going through, a licenced therapist perhaps? I have seen them online but of course be mindful and check reviews before choosing one. Thank you for being such a good friend, everyone needs a friend like you in hard times like these.

  7. Hello,

Does anyone know if there is a list of private/bilingual schools that I can access? My daughter currently attends an international school, and while it is great, I am starting to become concerned about her Thai language so considering transferring her to another school with a stronger emphasis on Thai. Is there a website or somewhere I can access with a comprehensive list? I've already read through a few older threads in this forum but not quite found what I am after yet ????

    Thank you

The next test will be scheduled in February 2023. I have been told it's gonna be a once-a-year thing now. My friend failed this year's test and has decided to work in Kazachstan instead, as TCT won't give him waiver no. 5. All the other foreign test takers also failed the test.

Unless you can find employment at an international school or language institute, both of which do not ask for a teacher license, you're out of luck. It seems TCT are actively trying to drive out foreign teachers now.

Oh wow. I was told that they are thinking of setting the exam twice a year. Fingers crossed that is the case. I work at an international school and we still need the teachers licence, it's only universities, language centres and higher education (sixth form/college) which are exempt I believe.

  9. Did anyone here manage to get a place on this exam? My school applied but then they asked for lots of additional paperwork which I obtained within a day or two of being asked but by the time my new application was submitted it was too late for the exam. Devastated! Apparently there might be another one this year, but I doubt it.

I was one of the first in Korat to apply for a "Yellow House Book".
    The famous "Art. 13".
I tried to comply with everything on the list, but the guy at the counter came up with a new requirement every time I fulfillled the requirements.
After several visits, the guy said to me: "Sorry, but we give no "Yellow Books" to foreigners".
Sp, stick your "Yellow Book" there where the sun never shines.

Hah. Yes. The subdistrict where my husband is from gave me a ridiculously long list of requirements including 10 witnesses - I kid you not, TEN!

What's your postgraduate degee it? Unless the rule has changed reently, you don't need to do any tests if you have a bachelor's degree in education or your postgrag is something like a PGCE/Graduate diploma in teaching.

The rule changed unfortunately. I have a PGCE in Education. Anyone who qualified post-2019 now has to sit the Khurusapa proficiency examination in addition to their postgraduate degree to obtain the 5 year permit. There hasn't been a test all year, so I am sitting and waiting for the next examination.

You would not need to change your address at immigration if you got a yellow house book for a different address than the residence your are living at.

Many people living outside of Bangkok have gotten yellow house for there to apply for citizenship in Bangkok.

I suggest you look at the long ongoing topic about it. https://aseannow.com/topic/121353-story-of-my-thai-citizenship-application/

Thank you so much - I do have a friend in mind who owns a condo in Bangkok, I might try and see if I can get a yellow book attached to her address then. I will certainly read that topic - thank you very much!

    Have a great day ????

To apply for citizenship in Bangkok you will have to have a yellow house book for a residence in Bangkok. You do not have to be living where it issued for. You could use a friend or a family members home to get it.

Yes, this is why I would prefer to have a yellow book based in Bangkok, it would certainly make the whole application process a lot easier. If I wanted to get a yellow book with a friends address in Bangkok, would I do the TM30 in Bangkok to say I am residing at their address, get the documentation, then update the TM30 back to my address once the yellow book is done?

  14. 2 minutes ago, ubonjoe said:

Doing a TM30 report would not affect your extension of stay (it is not a visa) you did in Bangkok. You would though need to another TM30 report wheny return to Bangkok.

Why do you want or need a yellow house book?

Oh that's very useful to know, thank you so much.

I want a yellow book so that I can apply for citizenship.

You cannot be registered in a blue house book. I think you will find that many landlords will not want to help you ge a yellow house book.

After getting one for one address you would have to cancel your existing yellow house book to get a new one for a different address.

Yes, I think most landlords will be reluctant to help me get the yellow book, hence why I was thinking it would make more sense to get my yellow book attached to my husbands blue book in NST... but I don't know how I could do this if I am residing in Bangkok as the amphur in NST say I need the letter of residency from immigration, which won't state my address in NST... any ideas? ????

  16. Hello,

I completed my postgraduate degree in December 2020 and applied for the 5 year permit in January 2021 and was then informed about this test.. I don't think that there has been one all year, so I am just waiting for khurusapa to announce it although some study materials in the meantime would be useful.

If you hear anything please do update us here.

    Many thanks
