  1. @theoldgit, No, I am not a national of the main destination country.

In addition, I see that they are asking for:

    - a certified copy of the spouse/partner’s passport, in its entirety, valid for at least another six months ;
    - a birth certificate of the spouse/partner ;
    - an extract of the marriage certificate / a copy of the registered partnership;
    - a copy of the registration certificate (“attestation d’enregistrement”) of the Union citizen
    joined/accompanied.

Do you know what registration certificate is? I certainly do not have that with my EU passport and I live in Thailand.

Also, do you know where can I get a certified copy of my passport?

  2. @theoldgit, that is very helpful. Thanks a lot. One more question:

As a spouse of EU member traveling together, should we include proof of accommodation/invitation letter?

I am asking because this EU website says it is not needed (https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/travel/entry-exit/non-eu-family/index_en.htm#residence-card-doc-no) while other websites list the proof and accommodation as required documents.

  3. Hello,

I am a dual citizen US/EU with a Thai spouse going to Luxembourg (main destination, but will travel around as well) applying for her 90-day Schengen Tourist Visa based on Private visit with an EU member husband at the Luxembourg consulate in Bangkok. Do we need to submit a copy of the marriage certificate in Thai (as we got married in Thailand) or should we have it translated into English?

I searched for the information but did not find anything conclusive. Hope somebody can shed a light.

    Thank you

Would be interesting to know as to whether he had doses of the useless Chinese vaccine or others such as Pfizer. Hope there is not a spread now from Thong Lor again

Why would it be interesting to know his medical history? Are you a virologist? Are you going to publish a research about vaccine effectiveness? From your post, it seems you have all the medical background to label vaccines.

  5. @ubonjoe, it is me who is currently receiving treatment and cannot travel.

To be clear, applying for this particular #25 visa extension extends the 1-year extension deadline, correct? It does not replace my current status, right?

Also, would I need to be using the same tm.7 form we usually fill out for the marriage extension or is there a specific for that, as I have not seen one?

Last but not least, how do the evidence and form need to be submitted? Do we need to mail them? Would the address be the same as the 90-day report? Could it be sent by ems as the deadline is coming up soon and didn't expect to stay there that long?

Thanks again for all your help and knowledge you devote to the community, ubonjoe. We really appreciate what you do.

it is well known that Thai citizens do not have to pay for State Quarantine. They do have to pay if they opt for ASQ.

It is up to the government to establish the State Quarantine facilities where and how they see fit, whether it be in a school, hotel or whatever.

    Thread closed.

    Thank you, Sheryl.

What the heck is double standards? Do you understand that a country takes care of their own, or is that an alien concept for you?

Who do you think is paying for that? The government of course!

A number of countries like Australia, Vietnam and so forth make pay returnees, regardless of their nationality.

Thai government is funded by tax payers.

You and your thai vs farang baiting comments are irrelevant.

As an afterthought (as was your conception apparently), this whole conversation is redundant. This news was confirmed way back in March/April - why the sour grapes 4 or 5 months after the fact? Trolling?

If you read my original post, you would not be asking the question. Marriage visa is discussed thousands of times like other topics. If that was discussed before it does not mean it does not need to be discussed by those who want to.

But behind all the free money thrown around, did you ever think of better ways to spend money on those who really need it like millions of Thais who lost their jobs and poor people.

My point is fake returnees should not be given free quarantine and Tax payer money should be redirected to those in need.

I think it was the usual Thai bashing that put most off, the Thai vs. Foreigners rant.

Also IF he pays taxes...and had wrote about something more relevant than the 1 case he said to have just discovered.

I am not investigating all cases. I am sharing about what came to my attention. Please avoid applying your own case to everybody in Thailand. If you are retired and live in Issaan, good for you, but it does not mean that others do not work in Bangkok.

And if you found that was Thai bashing, I did not force you to join either.

Thai Citizens are entitled to free quarantine from their government, they do NOT get the choice of where this quarantine will be at, this is decided by the government based on arrival airport etc.

The government have made more and more hotels available for Thai citizens quarantine, to increase the numbers allowed in daily.

A Thai citizen can choose to pay for ASQ is they so wish.

Foreigners are not entitled to free quarantine.

I've paid huge amounts of Thai PIT for a lot of years and have no objections to this arrangement, as foreigners, we have the choice of whether we travel to Thailand or not.

WARNING, FREEDOM OF SPEECH! I have the right to disagree with you.

What's the problem? Thai nationals don't have to pay? That's great news... it's their home... they shouldn't have to pay for government obstacles put in their way.

Unless you have obtained Thai nationality (or permanent residency) this is not your home. Fail to meet any of the requirements at your next extension date, and off you plop back from whence you came.

Tired of people complaining about double pricing. International students in the UK and US (and throughout Europe) charge way more for the exact same education as 'home' students - who generally pay a third of the price they do. It's endemic in every country, not just a Thai thing.

If you tired of people complaining about double pricing, then don't make yourself tired posting on this thread!

Christ, I guess some people will always find something to whine about. Who the f cares where the Thai government puts their citizens during mandated quarantine. It's got nothing to do with you, me or anybody else... even IF you'd be paying to stay in the same place. I get certain preferred treatment in my home country compared to visitors, and rightfully so.

Besides, the state quarantine does not guarantee you a spot in a nice hotel. From the reviews and reports from Thai's in regular quarantine I have seen and heard, most of those ain't no picknick. Perhaps a few Thai got lucky and no "regular" spots in the <deleted>ty hotels or facilities were available and they landed in a "nicer" hotel. Again, why care?

If you do not care as you say, why even bother posting then? You don't care. Don't waste your time. Apply your own words to yourself first.

Indeed not, but these benefits may come alongside all the other things that are required for the quarantine to be effective.  Somchai's place from my previous post may also have a seaview but if it doesn't meet the rest of the criteria it won't be good enough.  The star ratings will tend to go alongside the facilities needed for effective quarantine, which is more than just the isolation aspect.

it is not a luxury vacation and so what if a Thai national/citizen is quarantined in a 4 star availabe set up establishment.

Another perspective from Vietnam that has been managing this situation quite well, as I have business there. Anybody who chooses to stay in state quarantine facilities pays about USD5 a day, while others who opt for private qualified hotels may pay anywhere from USD 75 to USD200, regardless the nationality.

It has been announced and documented since beginning thai nationals do not pay for quarantine.  Where the Thai gov puts them for 2 weeks is none of anybody's business.

    Nothing to see here.

ETA:  If one has a Thai passport one is Thai national, regardless of where he lives or how long he is in the Kingdom.

It IS my business as long as I am a Tax payer here. I would rather see my taxes go to the millions who are unemployed than some returnees who abuse the system with a sea view room for free while other foreign business workers may pay over THB 100,000 for the same stay.

By the way, the double standard also goes to Thai "returnees" not needing to complete a test prior flight.

Any quarantine facility has to meet a raft of requirements to be given that status.  You'll find them on the hsscovid website if you can read Thai.  Lower grade hotels would be unlikely to meet the requirements so returnees end up in places like this.

If they were placed in Somchai's Guest House and Sawbone's Hospital provided the hospital services, Thailand would likely be awash with Covid brought back by Thais repatriating.

I do not think a 4 star hotel with seaview is part of the coronavirus requirements for better isolation!
