Nice example of a cheaply built house. Pre-cast columns vs. larger hand built columns, steel headers vs. hand built concrete headers. Quality houses are labor intensive.
Our house took 6 mos. to build and 6 yrs. later I can't find any cracks. Our house could have been built for half the cost if above construction was used. Nothing wrong with a cheap house as long as the price reflects it.

The farang owned housing market will finally drop down to realistic prices. Wonder how many farang are already putting their house on the market.

Ohhh, you've had those pizzas as well. I can eat pretty much everything but those are such crap and the Thais don't even know it.

I am surprised because in the past I received a lot of bashing from people telling me to pack up and make some money before settling in Thailand. I naturally assumed most of those people were thai visa millionaires. I have spent less than 20 years in canada, one third of that getting a useless degree while being taxed to death and I still managed to save well above this amount.
Let's just say I don't get it.Some folks raised families along the way.

What are the eternal mysteries of Thailand? What are the unanswerable questions about the Land of Smiles? What things exist or occur here without a sensible explanation?
I'll go first, with an easy one: Why are there so many ladyboys (and toms) in Thailand?
And, Why do the Tom's have such good looking girlfriends?

We hit up Makro once or twice a week for meats and veggies. Seafood and chicken fresher and better looking there than the markets. Sometimes fish from market for BBQ. Never go to Tops for anything other than a few specific farang condiments. Makro has pretty much everything including some good fruits. I couldn't even give a monthly budget for food, we just eat good.

Using any piece of clothing for wiping off table or counter. I have lots of tolerance but, come on.

Rice harvest is in full swing. Fly into Udon Thani, it has a pretty large farang population, from there you can figure out the rest.

Go anywhere you please, have a good time. Don't overthink it and go with the flow.

A good haircut has nothing to do with bht. At 100 baht I'm still paying farang price.

My Isuzu 2012, not 4x4 and it cost 5000bht. for the 40,000 service. I used the dealership till warranty ended.

Common sense dictates the 1 yr. non-o visa or similar will remain in place. If not a new Harley may have to stay in showroom.

Sadly, I'm sure you'll still be able to find some place where you don't have to treat women as your equal.
Always a pleasure to read your comments. Men and women have different roles, when both embrace their role within the family unit, it's a wondrous thing. We're very much equal.

In Jomtein Beach I opened an account at Bangkok Bank with 30 day tourist stamp. Residency Letter from immigration was all that was asked for.
In Bangkok they first told me to go to Embassy for what I forgot. But in pattaya area much easier for Bangkok Bank.

Clinton fan? you won't find one here. It is all about the dangerous world Trump is developing. Fortunately he is breaking most of his promises and as long as he keeps backtracking the USA just might make it through the dark days to come.
Once we knew it was Clinton versus Trump for the presidency then we knew that America was in serous trouble but my god was that an understatement!
So far so good, Stock Market is soaring, good people being appointed to the Cabinet. Don't shoot please.

Most Farangs living in the sticks are living there, because their wifes want to live there. So it's mostly "a family matter".
- I took an other route:
I decided to live in the sticks by myself. A "No family situation".
The first 2 1/2 Years were quite OK. But then, half of the few fellow Farangs decided to die. The other half decided to flee the "Family Environment". Leaving most of their earthly assets behind.
After almost 5 years, I found that I have been watching the grass grow long enough. So I pulled up stakes. Not wanting to live in a Thai Tourist-Hub, I ended up in my home country and I only visit Thailand during the winter months.
So, after all this time, with much trial and error, I can say (with conviction), that finally I live in a perfect world.
Cheers.I understand the family route, I took that road myself.
I've heard guys say it's cheaper up north but all I see as cheaper is rent. Don't see how food and clothing is any cheaper. I know a few guys who don't like their life but can't afford to start over.

Funny. I didn't think his post was about Clinton fans at all. It was about our future life on the planet under trump.
Anyone whistling a happy tune at the moment should be shot!
Guess you missed that line.

A vote for Trump were cast by folks who are more scared of Clinton's agenda than the unknown Trump. Globalization is a scary thought. It's bad manners to say "Merry Christmas", the pledge of allegiance is frowned upon. The Dems idea of helping folks is welfare. They love nothing more than to have the American people reliant upon the government. Kids are being taught in school that the gov. owes them everything. How about teaching them that nothing is free in this world....nothing.
Having Trump in the White House gives me hope that we can turn things around. Show the folks that life is more than a cheap flat screen TV and a Happy Meal.

The Trump presidency has split the USA and it is very worrying. It is also indicative of greater problems in the world generally where we are all in uncharted waters. Whatever happens in the USA in the near future will have an effect on the rest of us in one way or another. Anyone whistling a happy tune at the moment should be shot!
Just more proof how nasty Clinton fans really are. You can't always have your own way.

The "rigged vote" had to do with media bias and unfair, inaccurate polls, undocumented folks voting, not an inaccurate ballot count.
