Ok, then I get it. So, many people have been coming to Thailand on too low pensions, and are now risking their possibility to remain in the country, due to that they put all eggs in one basket. Is that right? And then you are telling me that retired expats are working. Aouch!!! That goes totally against the kind of visa they stay on. This is definitely no good.

Some of us are just 51. And don't want to  touch our  pensions yet.  I also doubt that anybody with property investments in Thailand are making any returns.

Central has been open up until recently (back open), most other things are open except bars etc (i drink/eat in hotels/resorts/clubs mainly) so not really impacted, its been beneficial with the roads being so empty.

Somehow I consider mass evacuations, while enduring all the same covid restrictions as Phuket, make the B.C. interior objectively worse than Phuket.

Firstly, the efficacy figure quoted in that article is only for the Delta variant and secondly it's 39%, not 10% (it's right there in the link).

Also, even if it were 10% that doesn't mean you have a 90% chance of catching the disease.

A vaccine efficacy figure indicates the reduction of the risk of contracting a disease in a vaccinated group of people, as compared to an unvaccinated group, in the specific circumstances where the study took place.

So an efficacy figure of 39% would mean that if you're vaccinated, you have a 39% lower risk of catching the disease than if you were unvaccinated. It doesn't mean you have a 61% chance of catching it. That would only be the case if unvaccinated people had a 100% chance of catching the disease, which they don't.

Also, as mentioned efficacy rates are specific to the time and place where the data is compiled. In the UK, for instance the equivalent efficacy figure for the Delta variant (and this is also mentioned in the article) was 88%.

I was just trying to make a point! I was unable to find the link for! I guess you have a PhD in Human physiology.

46% if new cases in the UK are vaccinated individuals.

Before all the US expats say their country/embassy is not looking after them.  Consider this.

Embassies are not in foreign countries for the sole benefit of their citizens.  They may provide some services however they are not there for just you.

Embassies are in foreign countries to act as liaison between the host country and the government of country of the embassy.

Winge all you like but that is the truth.

    Poor us citizens!
