This country makes a huge amount of money from tourists, it is a vital part of GDP and has been the case for decades, the problem is that there are no safety standards or at least they are not enforced making Thailand (no matter how much they claim otherwise) and extremely dangerous place to holiday.

The costs quoted in the OP are not only tiny but are very likely exaggerated, when you consider the actual cost in terms of labour and materials without profit it is no where near what they are quoting.

Yes people should have insurance when they go on holiday but equally there is a duty of care to keep visitors safe when they visit Thailand, when they are injured through no fault of their own then Thailand should be willing to step up and compensate.

They have gotten away with this for far too long, they have had decades to improve things but instead stuffed the money in their greedy pockets showing no consideration to improve their health and safety.........and yes I for once agree in this instance of that commonly used Thai phrase - well if they hadn't come to Thailand it wouldn't have happened so it must be their fault, might be time for people to rethink their holiday destinations.

If a Thai goes to the UK on holiday they will be treated in hospital like everyone else, the difference being that the likelihood of something happening to them is vastly different.

So a few million here and there .................so what, you are making trillions in tourism.

Totally agree..... But you forgot to mention the amount of money these businesses (whoops sorry I meant hospitals) rip off from foreigners. I know for a fact they charge Thais a lower rate.

The pickup had probably also a stop sign like the one you see in this pic on his side making the road the MC is on the main road. That means the pickup is 100% guilty.

He may well be 100% guilty but the motorcycle driver should have anticipated the worst. He didn't even appear to slow down at all, despite approaching a junction with a pick up attempting to cross it.

I see this lack of evasive action all the time on Thai roads, especially by motorcyclists.

They sat through the court case they chose to make their own mind up instead of listening to convicted criminal Andy Hall and his bunch of activists and journalist who were only willing to report one side of the story.

Yes, I agree with you. They listened to their interpreter and made up their own minds based on that person's interpretations.

  4. Terrible driving by the bus driver who should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and I hope that these two youngsters make a full recovery very soon.

I hope other parents will look at this and not allow their children to ride motorbikes at such a young age. It's clear from the video that the driver of the motorbike couldn't have been looking toward the main danger area or he would have seen the bus was travelling way too fast to stop before making the turn. Experience on the roads will teach you to expect the unexpected and this wasn't even that difficult to see had the driver been looking. It's possible the driver just thought, we're on green so we can go.

I don't disagree with your analysis.

Corbyn is a socialist utopian, completely out of touch with life in the North of England. He will never see mass immigration as anything but positive despite centuries of evidence to contradict this. Labour are unelectable whilst he is leader.

Agree, but it's not only Corbyn. Labour are now full of these liberal idiots who just don't represent what the Labour party was established for and it's core voter base believe in. They need a strong leader who's willing to have a big clear-out and send those Libtards back to the Green party and such like.

While I don't condone violence, she did have good reason to be angry.

If all is as she says then the guy is clearly at fault to a degree.

Not sure he deserved a shoe in the face but he gets no sympathy from me.

Do you seriously think all is as she says.... Why no statement of account from the couple..... Seems odd to me, I wonder if the bar may have calculated the bill wrong?....

Given that the general feeling of most non-Americans, is that many Americans (Particularly Trump supporters) neither know, nor really care, about what happens outside of their country if it doesn't affect America, I wouldn't be surprised if "The dishonest press doesn't want to report it" was more in reference to the fact that Trump, his aides and his voters, simply didn't know about all of the attacks that happened in Europe because they don't watch the world news.

Although in saying that, terrorist attacks happen in places like Africa & Asia that aren't reported on much by the international media.  Like if someone got executed and then set on fire as part of a terrorist attack in the UK or USA, it'd be all over the headlines, but when it happens in the south of Thailand it only really gets attention within Thailand (And even most Thais don't really care because it's in the south, and everyone knows that stuff happens all the time lol).

You're missing the point. He's talking about attacks by refugees and illegal immigrants, and by doing that he's saying that if you didn't have them in your country then they wouldn't happen.... Each country has enough problems without importing more. That is the point he's making and I agree with him. They are covering up the daily, rapes and beatings that these immigrants/refugees are committing. In Sweden now, women are terrified to go out. Stockholm has become the rape capital of Europe (see below report).

Sweden has the highest rate of rape in Europe. In 2013, according to the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention  there were 63 rape cases per 100,000 population reported to the Swedish police.

According to rape crisis advocates in Sweden, 1 out of 3 Swedish women have been sexually assaulted by the time they leave their teens. During the first half of 2013, more than 1,000 Swedish women reported being over 300 of those were under the age of 15.

I can Imagine how  horrendous  things  must  have been 29 years ago for this to happen.....wonder how  much the authorities "sold"  him for "if" its true..................possibly more people trafficking

Exactly what anyone reading this should be thinking..... And as much as this could turn out to be a fantastic story with a happy ending. Surely heads must roll at the hospital.

I've been here for nearly 4 years and get my hair cut every 4 weeks. I've tried all the ฿40 barber shops and have now settled an a ฿100 barber.  She knows exactly how I like my hair cut, she speaks a little English, and while she's cutting my hair, her dad washes my car and mum makes a nice coffee for me.  All in all I could have murdered a few barbers along the way, but it grows back quite quickly.

    Does she blow it dry?
