  1. Yesterdays rain was a little hard but not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. I think just because we haven't had rain here for so long you are all forgetting what a hard rain is really like.

I'm not saying it wasn't hard because it was but compared to some "rainy season" down pours it was just average. Just a minor beer storm.

  2. Phil,

I would say start with the BIB.

What area did the theft take place?

I once had only a Video camera and a gold necklace stolen and I went to the police in Banglamung and believe it or not they some how found the 2 boys that stole it first (somehow they knew) and then with me in their old BIB pick--up truck and the boys in the back they told the police where to go.

I can't even remember where it was because it was down some very isolated sois off the beaten path (through some woody area but still in Pattaya city). We finally came to a house and the police took the boys in and then returned with my video recorder and 8000 baht in cash. Yes NO gold necklace but I guess the police made them borrow some money from their Aunt where we were and give it to me to compensate.

I'm not sure if one of the hidden houses was just some Thai guy that buys hot goods (back-woods pawn shop) or if the boys just hid the camera there but their Aunt lived very close too. The police just told me not possible to get the necklace back but handed me the 8k.

So yes strange things DO happen in our favor. I think i paid 10k for the gold at the time (1 baht). I recommend going to Banglamung A.S.A.P

  3. Let's face it. Cable TV in Pattaya sucks weather it;s Sophon, TMN, BTV, They all play repeats day after day, month after month and year after year. I don't know how many times on the Universal Channel I have seen the same season of "The Event", Law & Order, Criminal Minds etc. AND when they are just about at the season finale, they don't show it but change to another series or repeat the same one over again.

I have been watching "Kyle XY" in SyFy (the same season) for 3 years now.

I think they do it on purpose to piss the farangs off.

I have made comments on TV Series on my Facebook to me friends back home and they are like: "Dude that was 4 years ago. We are into season 11 now".

Someone needs to really do some research into these cable companies and report it to someone who actually gives a sheite. Oh yeah sorry, nobody does.

I guess one good thing is the very old retirees here who get Dementia won't ever know that they have been watching the same show over and over again.

  4. My new song: (Just a tease right now)

I put a song on a local forum and guess what happened then

The Buzzards started circling, the Trolls came out in ten

The Geriatrics woke up, but only for awhile

The critics started flaming, but that's Thai Visa style.

    Chorus etc to come.

  5. I must admit that the "Glimmer Man" always gives me a smile however I did have a friend visiting from my country and as we sat on a corner bar people watching he was taking pictures in amazement when just then a Police-man drove by on his Motorcycle, open bottle of whiskey in his left hand but up against his head because he was talking on his mobile. He had no helmut on and neither did his (looked to be about 11 in school uniform) year old son on the back also with no helmut texting and eating dried fish.

We both saw it at the same time but my buddy was so amazed he couldn't even get a picture off.

  6. I had to pay an 18,000 baht over stay once on my way into Lao to get my Non-B visa.

At the Thai boarder they were all laughing (in good taste) and saying "You come back Thailand ok?" They thought it was great.

Went in the next day, applied for my "B" and picked it up the next day. No problems.

PS: As some posters said, I wouldn't have wanted to get caught during that time or I could have been in serious trouble.

  7. For instance I just today saw a farang on the beach in NaJomtien with his motorcycle actually on the beach. You could see his tire trail was about 1 kilometer long and he had no traction. Finally some Thai guys helped push him back up to the road. Funny thing was he was wearing his helmut, and look how he was dressed. I had to laugh at him.

Everyone was yelling at the nerd about the beach is for families and children etc.

    Where do they come from?

  8. There are a couple of bars that have a permit so they have jam sessions and you can play there.

Other then that, YES it is illegal without a permit and work permit which is near impossible these days.

If you try to play on the streets you will be beaten by Thais.

I'm a musician here and you can send me a message if you want more info

  9. There's little to no assurances even if you're a big business. Just ask that German firm who built the tollway system what happened. The German government had to step in and force the issue of payment after more than a decade of being ignored. Take a look at Carlsberg as well as the current issues over DTAC. If you want to look at smaller businesses who got cheated do a search on that guy who owned the Turkey farm. C.P. came in and basically forced him out. There have been several joint foreign/Thai agribusiness investors who got screwed too. Some of them recently like the joint Taiwanese owned plantation.

There are a lot more stories out there.

Not to mention they still owe Canada for the loan on the BTS in Bangkok.
