Ok so two smallish dogs in 1 kennel. Is that allowed by the airlines (2 in 1?).
I'm not familiar with the "Sky or Vari" type but pretty sure I know what you mean. I will check a place close to where I stay on the dark side today or tomorrow (have a wicked cold right now) and let you know.
When do you need them by? I can also suggest posting an ad on bahtsold.com or craigslist under "wanted" or in the "pets" section as many people want to get rid of these things once they have got their dogs here. Just a thought.
Anyways i will let you know by posting or private-ing you when I check it out.

I received my first retirement Non-O on Nov. 2011 and says it is good until Nov. 2012
Reading all of the posts here I am now confused. I was under the assumption that I only need to "sign in" every 90 days at the local Pattaya Immigration office. I have been reading other posts where you say you have to "leave the country" every 90 days?
How am I getting these two requirements mixed up please?
I also understand that if I need to leave Thailand for work or whatever reason that I just need to go into Immigration and buy a single re-entry visa for 1000 baht or a multiple re-entry for 3000 baht correct?

You guys are fast and helpfull. I appreciate the kindness of people reaching out for strangers.
Laos sounds like a good idea. About air or land, as we travel with our 1.5 years old baby I am seeking for the most comfortable way. So most likely we will be traveling by air.
I also understand that if I just go out and in by land without getting a visa I get only 15 days. Is that correct?
Correct visa by land is only 15 days.
You should have no problems if you fly to Laos to get another 60 day visa as it seems that the one you are using now is your first one. They are just getting sticky with back-to-back tourist visas.
Many nice places to stay within walking distance to the Thai Consulate in Vientiane

Penang will not give you another tourist visa if you have extended a previous one.
If you don't extend your tourist visa, they will give you three, maybe four more visas, then, refuse you more.
Is it absolutely certain that after extending my tourist visa in Bangkok I will not get a new tourist visa in Penang?
Nothing is "absolutely" certain in Thailand OR with Thai consulates etc. What people are telling you is that lately people have reported being "red-flagged" in Penang for tourist visas that's all. Up to you if you want to take your chance there but remember "1000 flies can't be wrong."
Better to do as suggested and go to KL. Over the past many years it seems that the Thai consulates in other neighboring countries have taken turns being the "hot place" to go for visas. One year it's Penang, the next it's Vientiane, next was Phnom Phen etc. etc.

1) If your name is NOT on the account then no it is NOT safe (for you anyways)
2) If something (god forbid) happened to your wife then there is no way of you getting 1 cetang
3) If something did happen to your wife as of now then her family (or your daughter if she is Thai) can get the money out by presenting a death certificate.

Mate if you want to buy shares in Thailand then you need to see a doctor.

Ahhh, playing cards. I can get on board with that
Gambling is illegal in Thailand and you will certainly have problems with the Police if you take out a pack of cards in public - even if you are not actually gambling.
Patrick
Prostitution is also illegal in Thailand for god sakes.
Now someone plays cards all of a sudden they are a "Gambler"? Even if you are not gambling the police might arrest you.....hahahahahahahahahah. Yeah I can just see it "Excuse me sir you are under arrest for socializing.
Jesus man get a life outside of Thai Visa

why only American warning , any other embassies sent their warning ? soundds strange !
Well I am a Canadian and just opened my email to find the warning to our citizens and it also says the Australian Embassy has issued the same warnings.

Normally banks won't cash or deposit cheques if they are under $100.00 USD or CAD.
I had 10 cheques from Canada all $99.00 from the Government and they would not accept them. SCB

Myself I cannot see KL issuing you a visa. In fact you might even find yourself in a deeper mess if you keep trying different Consulate offices and they catch on. Thai Immigration puts these red stamps in peoples passports for a reason.
I'm sure one of the Mod's will be in here soon with better info.

Rimmer, I only asked what size he was looking for as it is easy to get the small dog transportation cages however if he needs a big one say for a Golden Retriever etc. Then it is more difficult. The small ones can be found at most Veterinarians or pet stores however if he needs a bigger one then I would try to help find one for him. I am an animal lover. Sorry if my comment was un-helpful but his post needs more details.
PS: That's one helll of a nail file you're gonna need hahaha. Don't know where to find them. I could suggest a grinder

Although the beaches are public so to speak it does seem like these people were rude and if it was me I would have let them know that and asked them to leave if they didn't at first ask: "Excuse me, may we join you?"
If this seems to happen to you ALL the time then I could only suggest: "Do not eat the brown acid. I repeat: Do NOT eat the brown acid."

I would avoid Vietnam. I traveled there with an Asian friend and as a white guy with an Asian girl, they really treated both of us like crap...and we were simply friends. Women would yell obscenities to her in Vietnamese. It was disturbing and we left Vietnam early.
Been in Viet Nam for 10+ years with my Vietnamese wife and never had an experience like that but I've been mainly in the North, I suppose you were in the south.
The VN people are very friendly and it's a great place to travel in but the North is a bit cold at the moment.
Your id is "PattayaParent" and you have over 8000 posts on THAI visa but you live in VN?

You might also want to consider living in Phnom Phenn Cambodia as it is cheap there, has all the same infrastructures (Schools, shopping, hospitals etc.) as Thailand and you can fly to China from there. Visas are easy as well.
Many of us have lived here in Thailand for a long time and have struggled with visas rules and regulations on pretty much a day to day basis as the laws here change daily. You don't seem old enough for a Retirement visa (50) and seems you have not spent a great deal of time here in the LOS so sad news or not I think you are looking at the most difficult country to stay in here in South East Asia. Maybe try Malaysia or Cambodia for awhile and at least get the feel of living in SEA without the visa hassles.
PS: I'm not sure why Hong Kong is not an option for you? It is not THAT expensive and with the money you would save on visas, flights back and forth and spending time away from your wife and 4 children you would be much better off. It seems like you have the 500k for the Ed visa and I assume you have a decent paying job in China if you're planning the BIG move etc.

Sukhumvit Rd is the longest road in the world. Fact.

I just drink tap water. Fill my bottles and put them in the fridge. Never had a problem. A little Chlorine doesn't hurt you.

I sure as helll would not have quit my job, sold my belongings and ended my lease when dealing with ANYTHING with the word "Thailand" in it.

Something wrong with this guys "friend" I thinks. Maybe the officer meant to leave the country to go to a Thai consulate or something but just telling him to "leave" sounds a bit fishy to me. Yes there is no "assurance" when living here. Did anyone say there was?
-
WOW that's so cheap. 1,750 baht is like only $55.00
Don't think you will get it any cheaper then that mate. Western Union would charge 5 X's that.

The bottle shops in Khao Talo have trays of Zero but no Coke Lite or Pepsi Max yet!
Zero IS lite mate. Coke Zero = sugar free.

Seems about right for LOS, 1500% over 5 years. lol. Man I can't even afford to walk PAST that place.

I'm a Diabetic and have been trying to find bot Max & Zero for 2 months now here in Pattaya. Just last week my local 7-11 (Soi Siam Country) had a bunch of Max so I bought 6 cans thinking it was all back to normal. Haven't seen it in there since and that was about 10 days ago. Was in Foodland yesterday and there were a few Zero cans there so I bought another 6 (was on the bike).
This is all leading to periodic mixes of Sang Som & Cola and has been a long time in waiting. No I don't like Tonic water.
Thank the Pepsi & Coke Lourdes for allowing diabetics to periodically get pissed once again !!!!!!!

Non-O Retirement Help Needed
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Posted
I'm pretty sure it is the one year extension as it was made at Immigration Pattaya.
It says permitted to stay until November 2012.
I'm not sure if you can see this pic clear or not but I'm pretty sure it says "you must report every 90 days" at the bottom that is not so "inked."
