  1. What you say is all well & good, but the question that needs answering; Are the runways safe.......

Just departed thru the airport a few days ago and no problems leaving, thru immigration in about 15 min.., we where a bit late departing but the airplane arrived late. When I arrived from the Philippines earlier thru immigration in about 20 min no hassle. In the end all you can use to measure the airports performance is your own experience.

Yeah lets see how it impacts you... All the things they say about the airport are true of course but at the end of the day passengers care mostly about the experience. I frequently fly between SFO from San Franciscos relatively new international terminal to BKK. BKK compares favorably: Less wait for luggage, MUCH less wait for immigration, MUCH friendlier immigration officials, better services re food and shopping on departure. In Fact BKK wins over SFO in pretty much any category you choose to look at.

Better than Swampy are Changi, Incheon, maybe HKIA. But all these are internatioal airports that are known to be near the top of the list. BKK is not the best airport in the world - they had the chance to do that, but screwed up thanks to all the problems mentioned in the article, mainly corruption of course. But BKK isn't the worst either.

And its the only airport I have ever arrived on in an international flight where I went from the airplane into a taxi in 15 Minutes. I know its not always that fast but it can be....

  2. 300 or 400 baht. They state from where to where....... does anyone know what the distance was and how much the fare should normally be????

However far it was with TEN people in the tuk tuk it was only 30 or 40 baht each, even for a short distance reasonable price.

The charge now is 40/50 baht per person so the charge of 400 baht was fair, the lying Egyptian got what he deserved.

  3. For two years we've been threatening to get rid of TrueVision. On the Gold package the channels of interest were limited to no more than 12 and many of them seemed to repeat just 24 hours of new programs a week.

At the beginning of June we dropped them. Don't miss a thing. The wife still gets her Thai terrestrial channels and I can always get the world news and sports on the internet.

    Bye-bye TrueVision.

I guess you are not a football fan then.

  4. At least they should learn some self-discipline and teamwork, at worst enhanced combat skills. Disciplinary measures used to include cleaning latrines, peeling spuds, forced long-distance hikes in full gear, "marching up and down the square", and solo night watches beset by mosquitoes bitgod. ;-) Wonder what the Thai army's "course" comprises.

Thanks for the Monty Python clip absolutely priceless. Seriously tho` Cameron should do the same with the benefit funded thugs

    in the UK.Wherever there origins

  5. What do young women find attractive about Thailand, its either stinking hot or teeming down rain.

Young & older men the attractions are obvious.

Still a terrible tragedy, their families must be devastated.

    RIP.

Seriously?! Get out to some of the islands which still have areas that feel like paradise on Earth.

You are probably right. I have lived in Chiang Saen for the past 10 yrs. It could be a million miles from Phi Phi etc.

Tho. i did pay my annual visit to `the islands` a couple of weeks ago,but with the tremors, cost of living,& too many fallang

it was a relief to get back up north. My post was about the young ladies i see backpacking up north, but i suppose i have

forgotten what its like to be young.

Once again may the two young ladies rest in peace.
