Good points that would be hard to contradict. My own experience with them has been that the majority of expats here seem rather more intelligent than the average Faranglander. One of the earlier posts on this thread described the disinclination to learn Thai as "willful ignorance." I think that nails it.

Mamma mia, dario... I'd like to find the same thing - a good Italian deli. Ragu Rustico Italiano in the (now defunct) Promenada Mall was an excellent restaurant that also had a small deli section. Sadly, just a memory now. You might try asking around at the better restaurants where they source out tbeir Italian ingredients. Buona Fortuna!
