George Carlin was a brilliant guy. But I'm not aware that he published any research on the subject. The case seems increasingly clear that one of the major causes of obesity is overmedication by antibiotics.
Antibiotics 'linked to childhood obesity'
Antibiotics cause obesity?
Then it must be coincidental that they eat like pigs as well.

Never heard of mosquitos in a sewage [septic] tank.
You would think it would be too toxic for anything but bacteria to live in.
In any other kind of a tank the introduction of small fish usually solve the problem. They eat the luk nahm as fast as they appear.

I doubt Weinstein will do anywhere near 23 years. Not because of parole, but because these type of guys won't last in prison. He'll more likely follow in Jeffrey Epstein's footsteps.
Nonsense.
Haven't you ever heard of Ivan Boesky, Bernie Madoff, and many others who thrived for years in various Club Feds. None of them did "hard time". Martha Stewart had her own little cottage at that government resort in West Virginia.
Epstein was involved with intelligence agencies. If it was just money and sex he would be alive today.

Wow
Look at these people getting upset and angry about the Jewish country.
They don't get angry of upset about anything else in the middle east in non-Jewish countries.
Millions slaughtered, oppressed or made refugees, they don't care.
I don't see any outrage about millions being killed in Syria next door.
But mention Jewish Israel, and suddenly they are all outraged, morally hurt heroes fighting for justice.
Maybe they hold Israel to a higher standard.
The Jews are the last people in the world that would be expected to do unto others what was so recently and horribly done to them.

>I thought it is better to warn all westerners who are newbies in Thailand.
I thought it is better to warn you that you have a huge grammar mistake in your title.
Everybody makes spelling mistakes, but at least in the title you could do a little effort to get that right, especially if you are writing a post where you pretend to be "Mr I know everything better". Thai culture are?
>1. Do not cross Zebra crossing when there is a car coming, they won't stop for you. Wait for cars to pass first before crossing.
Also a bit BS, there are definitely cars that stop, the ones that will not stop you can detect in advance, use common sense. Similar to in Europe (although in different numbers), some cars do not stop, I would not advise Thai tourists visiting western countries to "jump in front of a car at the crossing, they all stop".
>2. Do not disrespect the Buddha statues or the temples by wearing indecent clothing such as shorts or revealing dresses.
You mean: bow down to the ultra conservatives that totally exaggerate? There is nothing wrong with shorts in a temple, it is absolutely no disrespect and many of the Thai people think likewise. Obviously you dont have to go in bathing suit, again, use common sense. It's hot, shorts and flip flops are just fine. In 20 years never got any complaints. Just because there is a vocal group of medieval religious extremists does not mean we have to comply. If you look at the facts, ironically the dress code these ultra conservative zealots try to push on you, is very unbuddhistic. In the old days women didn't even wear tops. The whole cover-up dress code thing is nothing more than a Victorian import, pure farang influence. It was introduced by the British, exported globally in colonial times, and adopted by wanna-be-developped nations all over.
>3. Don't write graffiti on public property. It will land you in trouble with the police.
Great tip... you can add a few like "do not put public property on fire"... do not pillage ... do not steal... do not kill...
>4. Thailand is not the land of 'smiles' as painted in western media. The immigration and government can be quite strict and rude. Don't raise your voice with them like you do in western countries.
Until now I am really surprised with every point. Here again ... you pretend its normal to raise your voice to immigration and government in people's home country? Its something you should not do anywhere.
>5. Don't point your feet at someone or touch someone's head.
Who on earth points feet to show things? Who does that? Do you feel the urge to go around pointing at things with your feet? Not only is it weird, it is also very unpractical.
We can add countless similar scenario's "do not point with your elbow". Do not point with your head. Do not touch people's ears, mouth. etc...
Sorry I just had to react as I found it the worst and most paternalistic stereotypical "good advice" posted in recent times.
Good post marc.
You pricked an over-inflated balloon.

You're quite right, it does happen to a lot of farangs.

In general don't think the Thai Population express any Xenophobic tendencies.
My experiences in Thailand are that more often than not I am treated more favourably than Thai's treat each other and when not I am treated with an equal indifference.
What I have noticed is that more recently foreigners are 'less special' (and rightly so) and more commonly than not I am just treated with the same degree of indifference with which Thai's treat each other and everyone else.
This is not xenophobia, its simply a people who through modernization and development are slowly learning that they are equal and don't need to 'kiss ass' with false platitudes for no reason whatsoever.
That said, I find that the both the Thai Government and Thai Media often trip over their own clumsiness and in many cases lack of global education and appear xenophobic to those their comments are aimed at. What we forget is our own governments and media behave in a similar manner; albeit in most cases with the government being a little more careful with wording, however, the Western media are far less careful.
The growing multiculturalism of Thailand is being handled in a clumsy manner, I think that's all that can be said of Thailand, but then it [multiculturalism] is being handled in an extremely clumsy manner is most other nations too.
Exceptionally good post.
It effectively counters the mindless Thai-bashing that has become so prevalent on the ThaiVisa forums.

Nonsense.
The story was well-researched and factual.
Your post is a good example of how anything negative about Israel is shouted down and demonized.
