Thailand does not have hot water machines, because water heating is done by the heater not a central system.

I would also recommend you do have a slow approach, but to talk about it regularly. That will make her realise it is a problem and she will try to do something about it, if she also cares for you. But don't expect too much. Nobody can drastically change his own personaltiy.

I arrived at Suvarnabhumi two days ago and had one 30 day exempt plus 30 day extension in my passport. Then out of Thailand 6.5 weeks.

I ticked the option appartment and filled in the appartment name and street address.

Nobody asked for my number. And the immigration officer did not ask me anything at all. Just stamped me in.

These ladies in charge of the 30 day visa exempt and tourist visa extensions at Bangkok are a pain in the ass.

They have to check almost no documents as this is the easiest extension imagineable and still manage to let you wait a bit more than two hours, when the ticket said, that eight people are before you in the queue.

If I depart from Zurich airport in Switzerland nothing is scanned before check-in.

The travel bag will be scanned after check-in before it is dispatched to the plane.

All the rest will be scanned at the security check before boarding.

So why is this ok in Europe, but not ok in Thailand? Don't get it.

The younger Chinese already do. I have some good Chinese friends, that would never go on a group tour.

I suspect that over time the Chinese tourists will become more sophisticated.

Back in the 60s people in British would go on package tours bought from a tour operator. This meant a limited range of hotels with restaurants serving food to British tastes and with customers who were mostly British. Now people are more likely to book a flight and hotel through the Internet and (if they want to) they can go to less tourist-y places. The Chinese will, in time, follow a similar progression.

100% agree with this, the noise pollution in Pattaya is reaching intolerable levels and it is nothing to do with large bikes, it is Thai's and their incessant need to make noise - totally removing anything that resembles an exhaust and blasting out a sound that closely resembles a very loud long fart - how they think it is cool is beyond me

Every teenager or young adult thinks it is cool. I see no difference between Swiss (where I'm from) and Thai teenagers. Just that in Switzerland, the police will stop them sooner or later and then the fun is over. :-)

Shouting for the waiter or waitress in restaurants in China is the normal way to get service. So they might not be aware, that this is seen as rude behaviour in other countries.

The Thai army should pay for all tourist treatments, because their marial law makes the insurance policies invalid.

The GPS can only be as good as the map data it gets. And the source for all these maps is the country you're driving in.

If it tells you to turn right, but there was nothing there, it was probably planned - and map data updated - but never executed to have a road there. Even happens in good old Europe. :-)

And I hope, that the results are not the same, because the companies use different algorithms. Otherwise it would mean they just steal the software from each other. Good to have competiion among these companies.
