  1. to mr know  all /now retired before was a civil engineer and  had a building company with open building licence
and employed 1000s in my life time in developments?

Yet you insult Farang building companies here and make stupid comments about them [emoji23]
    Arnt you a Farang builder?
I guess everyone should run from any of your builds.
For the record the owner of Together Construction is also a civil engineer and has built thousands of developments.
So I guess he is as qualified as you, unless of course your just full of crap like your comment.

  2. if you find a falang behind a building project forget it

after14yrs here have seen it all

the wife and i built a house paying day labor

if they did the wrong thing get new people  like you would anywhere in world

Again another person that's seen it all but seems to know very little.

My house was built by a Farang company? My friends was built by the same builder,

He then built a work colleagues swimming pool and each time the projects were done to perfection and on time and on budget.

My home actually came in under budget and after a year of researching builders I wouldn't have touched any of the day labour farmers to go anywhere near my house.

Half of them don't even know how to mix cement correctly or know anything about setting out the foundation to avoid concrete cancer and other issues. Then their is the electrics [emoji23][emoji23] god help you on that one.

Without being mean I would almost bet I could find a dozen things wrong with your home and half of them you wouldn't even know existed.

The fact that you are willing to accept them doing it wrong and then looking for a replacement says it all really.

  3. Thank you for bringing my wife into the conversation but I think I'll leave you to it and carry on sucking each other's dicks.

Ah yes he resorts to gay comments. I guess someone is insecure with their sexuality then. It's ok mate when you reach puberty you will feel better until then keep going with the immature comments.

  4. Concrete could be the least of the problems.
I would be more concerned with the electrics!!

Yes & a Thai wife would be aghast at 2nd hand!! (Obviously Grollies Mia is "Different)55555555
    :cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

Very true mate, i was just talking about the structure but after that hell yes the electrics.
Where to even start on that.
No RCBO, no insulation on underground cables, no insulation on attic cables, over ground wires hanging and stretching, insufficient grounding or no grounding, inferior quality wire, incorrect fuses,
No earthing on showers or kitchen sockets.
The list is endless but hey if Grollie reckons it's ok to buy an old house then he must be right.
I wonder if he built his or bought it secondhand [emoji848][emoji6]

  5. Our house has just turned 11 years old, you would want to buy it if you saw it but you couldn't afford it.

''Tell your thai mrs that's the plan and see her reaction'' - what's that all about?

I don't buy second hand old junk sorry. As for not being able to afford it [emoji23][emoji23]
Considering you know nothing about me that's possibly the dumbest comment ever.

  6. Well, yes, unless the house is over 10 years old in which case foundations shouldn't be an issue if there are no signs of cracking on internal and external walls?

Concrete cancer can occur even after 10 years.
Besides that who wants to buy a 10 yr old home in Thailand.
Tell your thai mrs that's the plan and see her reaction

  7. Watching this with interest as we are still deciding to either buy a house with a pool alread installed, build a house and pool, or buy a house and put a pool and guest house in. These threads are a great help.

No way I would be buying a house built without me knowing what went into it and what the quality was like.

You can buy a house that looks amazing but you got no guarantee that the foundation is sound or that the steel was the right quality.

Building your own is the only way to go.

My builder did a brilliant job on my place last year.

  8. I have been in the industry for over 20 yrs and there is both pros & cons with both concrete & fiberglass pools. To be totally negative in regards to fiberglass pools is IMO is ignorant. The technology has come a long way and just doesn't include fiberglass shells as such. There is now fiberglass panels which can have the same finishes as concrete pools. We do plenty of fiberglass panel pools in places you wouldn't think of a concrete shell. In fact a sizable number are being done for schools in Australia that are being manufactured here in Thailand and flat packed for shipping.

Concrete pools have their issues as well, Especially if you get substandard work. I have made bread & butter by fixing pools here in Thailand for the last 15 yr!!!

I never actually said that concrete pools didn't have issues but as you said if they are done correctly then the possible issues are rare.

It's also a myth that concrete pools are more expensive. The facts are that most people compare an expensive full bells and whistles concrete pool with the cheapest of the cheap fibreglass pool to make them look more impressive price-wise.

For the size the op wants in equal quality to a concrete pool would be around 1 mill baht.

Of course you can get cheaper but then the problems arise so it's false economy.

You mention new tech and new breakthroughs in fibreglass but you failed to mention that those options bring the price up from that 450k basic minimum that was quoted.

Like I said to each their own but I did a lot of research as I was looking to get a pool and the downside of fibreglass far exceed concrete on a like for like basis.

  9. Can you please elaborate? with the greatest respect comments such as this are of no real help in answering the ops question, looking forward to hearing the the many reasons as to why one should not purchase a fiberglass pool in your opinion.

With the greatest of respect, I messaged the op yesterday at the same time I posted my comment so he has a complete list of my (and millions of other people's reasons) as it's public knowledge on the internet and also from Pool building companies that are not specifically trying to sell fibreglass.
I have seen the limitations and problems first hand so it's not an opinion it's a fact.

The reason I didn't post them here is because it will take the thread off topic. My comment was merely to get people to do some research before jumping into something.

If the op wants to post the details I sent him then he is more than welcome to do so as it's his thread.

  10. I am back after 9 days out of action, in Khonkaen hospital.
I am always attacking the police/officials here, but only praise for hospital staff.
Been out of action with a bacterial infection in my left foot (toes turned black),
After some extremely good care i got home last night, (very happy).
So all you folk who speak about poor care/dirty conditions in government hospitals take note.
I received excellent care in a very clean private room.

Great care at an extremely great price I am sure.
I spent 4 days in kk ram a while back and it cost just under 200k baht.
    Lucky my insurance covered it.
If you arnt sick before you get there you sure will Be when u get the bill.
  11. Agree with everything the above poster has said and likewise I had to do a lot of research before I found the perfect builder for my place. It's built a year now and no issues whatsoever. More to the point I have seen his older work and it's perfect. Unlike many builds from other companies I checked out which have cracks, leaks and all the other fun problems that go with picking a bad crew.
Another thing to mention is that if you expect to find a good builder that can start your job straight away then your delusional. A good builder will be busy and any one that can start immediately is obviously not in demand which is an immediate warning sign.
Anyway if anyone needs my guys details drop me a pm he builds all over Thailand.

  12. Praphan on Thursday morning showed reporters the 2,500 rai that the municipality, citizens and private firms had assembled for construction of an international airport.

Before rushing into this pipe dream, would it not be pertinent to inform the international community that Phayao actually exists, and if I was to fly from Toronto to Phayao, what can I expect?

    Ever hear of Google?
It's a little thing that lets people find out about everything.
I am sure millions of people in the world never heard of Nyingchi but they still have an airport there [emoji6]

  13. The only obvious up side is that your wife and kids can have jobs.  Other than that it is not much of a lure.  How important is it for you 16 kid to have a job in Thailand ?

Only if they are Thai, otherwise as the article says they can't work in the fifty million types of employment only allowed for Thai nationals.

It's yet another useless load of crap.

  14. Hello,  I'm very new to this site and forum, however I personally as a builder and importer find 500K THB quite expensive *around $20,000 AUD. to me thats ASNZ Australian New Zealand standards prices for a 6Mx4Mx1.8M fibreglass pool either keyhole or kidney shaped complete with lights, skimmer, sand or salt water filtration system installed and warranted for 5 years. Again bare with me as I may be naive but my own and others I have both installed, supervised and supplied for DIY and other jobs came in at 250K THB and didnt use substandard glues or plumbing nor flawed pumps or electrical units. I would be quite suspicious on the quality and thickness of the fibreglass unit itself especially as you would have little recourse in the event of an issue. 200K or 500K its your money which ever way you choose to go. But I'd ask quite indepth questions not only of the products and services being offered or quoted but also the expertise, qualifications and experience.

    Best Wishes
    Olly

Absolutely no way you could get anything of quality for 6000 baht per square meter which is what that size at your price works out to be. Sorry mate but your dreaming.
Maybe your thinking about a kiddy inflatable pool [emoji23]
