And rightly so - to a point. It should never cover say a drunk drivers injuries or car damage, but it should always cover his victim - the company can then claim the money back from the drunk driver later !

I have always felt that life sentences should not happen - but the sentence should be based on the age of the person killed plus a standard sentence. Say for murder automatic 10 years - no parole - plus half the life expectancy of the person killed. ie you kill a 50 year old you would get 10 years plus say 15 (half of the remaining 30 years of life expectancy). You kill a 10 year old kid you get 10 years plus 35 (half remaining life expectancy). Sentences should be based on what the dead person would have missed out on - whilst some may feel it debases older people, it certainly would make people think more about killing youngers - this would be great in places like hell hole London and its stabby culture ! However in this case , the killer copper would get basically life for 10+10+25+30=75 years.

I have never found that to be true - they mostly listen and then do the opposite !
