If you want to keep banking with Nationwide you need UK address. Maybe use a family member , get consent. Nationwide app works OK in Thailand you will need UK sim for OTP security as with any UK banking.

The complete system is a disgrace from sending documentation to Sheffield having no communication unless your prepared to pay the extreme high cost to email or call. Then your not put through to the department dealing with your case. What amazes me is fees for application and NHS charge are charged in USD, Why not GBP?

As regards Western ex0pats its the same you will find some racist and maybe they have reason to be and some not.

Russians and Chinese can be very racist and then I have met some that are not.

How about when your away from your regular address and staying in hotel then go back home, Do you need TM30 then as hotel would have given immigration your details.

After reading the threads about this and experiencing some officious attitude myself at immigration over the years I was expecting my home visit to be a nightmare.

How surprised was I.

They called a couple of hours before arrival to make sure we were home and ask us to get the village head and another government official to be in attendance on arrival.

They arrived at exactly the time stated asked the village head a few questions about how long I had been here, asked my wife a couple of innocuous questions about the house and how long we had been together nothing intrusive.

They took a few more copies of official docs id cards my passport etc.

At no time were they anything other than polite and helpful. They said they were only doing what was supposed to be done and I couldn't argue, I have always been aware that home visits were part of the deal and just considered myself lucky they hadn't bothered in the previous years. I am now more than happy for them to come and if others are expecting them all I can say is if everything is in order then don't worry.

I know I may just have been lucky but I thought I would post just to put forward the other side of the coin to say they are not all bad.

Before anyone raises it at no time was any money asked for nor was any offered by me.

What I don't understand is the guy was doing a 1 year extension for Retirement. Why are checks being made for marriage?. Something not quite right with this.

I always make sure I have contact number of Immigration to make sure anyone who might turn up are genuine. Never use numbers of persons turning up give you.

So if one has a problem getting a witness, What can you do or what will the Immigration officer do?

I will be doing my first Marriage extension, We have no children, Lived together for 6 years, House is in her name, She has my family name on all documents like house book and driving licence.

Marriage was at Banglamung office.

Did my Retirement extension of stay today. Started off, went to bank got confirmation and required photo copies of bank book, Went into Jomtien Immigration, On entry they checked my paperwork then got a ticket for the extension of stay desk, No waiting I was seen immediately, Girl checked all my photo copied documents and form, Take my 1900 bhat , Collect passport tomorrow. Excellent service up to yet from Jomtien Immigration. Love the new set up they have.

When my girlfriend applied she told them she work on family farm. Had no problem. The bank details and how much you have has a large deciding factor.

She had over million bhat in her account over 3 years. My accounts were also quite loaded up.
