  1. Not unusual at all. People don't want their money to disappear into the the shin clan pockets via the rice scam.

Not at all. The money is guaranteed by the government of Thailand, whether it is PT or Dems or whoever.

The legality of this loan is under BIG question. Would you like your life savings invested in corruption ridden scheme under a very shady circumstances?

  2. I just got a message from the US Embassy saying that the protestors are now setting up a new site at the intersection of Ploen Chit and Wireless Road very close to the US Embassy and near my home. Maybe they are again going to completely take over and occupy it again as they said they would do previously a few weeks ago. If you think Chalerm is a Bulldog; just piss off the Marines stationed there, they will show you how to break up a bunch renegade, flag flying, wistle blowing so called protesters who sit in the roads, close bridges and make life miserable for people who live here in the city and think it is a way to gain support. I am sorry but this is getting old now, what part of " I will not step down" do they not understand. Go ahead and beat me up for this post but I am just tired of all this crap, sorry. coffee1.gif

Your marines will do absolutely nothing, it's not USA so if they don't like it they can go home and take you with them.

  3. I am astonished daily that this barfly BS artist is given so much authority and power. He's dangerous, belligerent and possibly on the sauce. Lets face it, not a good combination at any time. Still at least he's not Tarit.

    "possibly on the sauce" cheesy.gifclap2.gif

Can I ask the yellow mob on here. If we see Suthep in chains, do you have any problem if the pro government lobby claim yet another victory (with arms tied behind back) Losing is a culture

Let them arrest him, no charges will stick and it will only make him look good in the eyes of people for not running away.
  4. The sad thing is even if they get the loan " for the farmers" 70% of it will be redirected to the shin&co pockets

And how exactly is that gonna happen / going down?

While I believe the rice pledging scheme is criminally insane a project, I can't see 70% going to anybody's pockets. Please enlighten me.

Because that's how it works in PTP, just look where the original budget went. And if they sense that this scam might be scrapped they just might cash it all in. Poor farmers are the last thing on their mind from what can be seen from their financial planning.

  5. Mr Kittirat should be appointed official joking member of the prevalent caretaking government.

After I read the post, that the government found banks willing to lend money I had to laugh so violently, I damaged my stomach from LOL. Will send "the Joker" my medical bill...

But you don't get it, "He said that these banks have gained understandings of the scheme" and right after that they stumbled over each other to lend the money to this wonderful scheme. If only more people knew...

  6. I have an idea, why don't courts force the Shinawatra clan to purchase all the rice from the scheme at premium prices? I recall Mr.T wanted to become a major rice player on the world market, that would be a wonderful opportunity for him to start, I am very confident as brilliant businessman that he is, he would have no trouble selling it at a profit.

  7. Terrible situation, I still cannot fathom however why all sides cannot just allow the farmers to be paid and deal with the legality and incompetence plus maybe corruption after. It is selfish and there is only political issues getting in the way now.

The only ones losing out of refusing to let the gov take a loan to pay them are the farmers. If the sides or groups opposing the gov are not willing to allow the payments whatever it takes then they are also part of the problem. I know why they are doing it and I understand the reasoning at blocking things but the result is the hardship yet again of those that are innocent of nothing more than taking up a scheme that would be lucrative for them. It is not a crime to wish to make money out of your business.

It is wrong and the farmers should not be the sacrificial lamb in all this.... pay them let the loans through if required and sort it all out in court after.

This government have no transparency and there is no guarantee the money will ever reach the farmers, look what happened to the original budge, and still PTP is talking of continuing the rice scheme. I agree about the farmers troubles though, a support to the farmers in trouble should be arranged.
  8. If she would resign and appoint someone less dividing to represent the PTP electorate (and of course they have to be represented) both sides could start a negotiation and move the country forward, there are too many people hating this family now to ever cope with them being in power, is there noone with less bad history to lead the coalition, why does she cling to power so hard? Why does the greed of this family destroying the country? Take your ill gotten money and leave the politics, you've got more than you can spend in several lifetimes.

  9. The woman is devoted to improving the life of poor people all over thailand. She is Aung San Suu Kui of Thailand. Praised for all her hard work by world leaders on her tireless trips to more than 50 countries. Who if not her would sacrifice oneself for the struggle of the poor against the oppressive elites of bangkok (have to be noted that it's just the elites of bangkok, not Chiang mai).

    This might be sarcasm, but...

How DARE you put Cinderella on the same level as ASSK?! How dare you!

    The barefaced gall.

Did YL lose her husband to cancer? Did she suffer under house arrest for 19 years? Was her father assassinated?

Did her supporters live in fear of their lives?

    Pure red shirt propaganda claptrap.

    You, sir, are despicable.

I think his comment was supposed to be ironic/satirical.....possibly.

Neither, merely naive, maybe even ignorant. Yes, ignorant.

That is not my words. I were merely quoting the PR remarks made by ruling party to praise dear PM. So being ignorant would refer to the people believing this stuff and voting her in, the number of which is rather large even among the foreigners on TV.

  11. I might agree with this article if there were millions of Thais protesting out on the streets of Bangkok, if more rally sites were popping up all over the capital, if there was a general strike. I'd believe it if less than 50% of the polling stations were open, if the stock markets and Baht were tumbling.

But none of these things are happening. On the contrary the rally sites are shutting down. Only the diehards and the paid are protesting. Slowly Thailand is returning to normal, not descending into chaos. It is not over and could return to violence at any moment should some blockhead decide he wants some revenge. But the signs are encouraging.

Suthep must be hoping for a judicial coup now as that is the only way he will win.

Try to keep in mind that the protests are going on for almost 3 months, people are tired of listening to Suthep and taking to the streets but that does not mean that they are back accepting PTP, they played their role and are awaiting results now. That is what i understood from talking to my Thai friends. Judical resolution of the conflict would be a continuation of what started at the streets in my opinion. At least the last election showed that PTP does not enjoy the approval of the majority.
