  1. My not so smart Samsung TV (3 years old) has no browser, just a series of apps, and Netflix is not one of them.

Any recommendations for a wifi based box that will host Netflix and connect to the TV? I know there are a few around, but not sure if any are available in Thailand.

    Thanks.

Same problem here. I have BBB router in my condo which provides enough speed just not sure how to connect the netfix to my tv. Apple TV a solution. I gave apple phone and ipad...just not sure I need all the features and at 8500 it's not cheap

One relatively easy way is simply to run Netflix off a Windows or Mac laptop that has video out capability, and connect the laptop to the TV with the appropriate video out cable -- HDMI, DisplayPort, SuperVideo, etc etc.

That way, you can also use a VPN or DNS redirect service is you desire, and select the Netflix region of content of your heart's desire (U.S., UK, etc.)

Solved the problem by buying an Apple TV (version 3 at 3,600 baht). Use Unlocator to set the DNS to USA and all of Netfix is now available and easily accessible. Plus I can stream all the videos sat on my computer through the Apple TV.

  2. The major question for me is : is it censored for Thai viewing. All my cable programs on the soon to be defunct GMMZ are censored to the point of unwatchability, and I would not pay to watch Orange is the New Black with 20% missing!

Generally everything that is available within the Kingdom is censored, hence HBO etc are all pixellated at those 'sensitive moments!

For me at least the cost of a Thai Netflix is exactly the same as a subscription to a US Netflix, which without too much effort you can access,

So the question is why bother?

So you can watch the Thai provided service in HD (and switch to the USA service using VPN or DNS for the rest). Plus, for many of us, paying for the Thai service is easier.

  3. House of cards - No

Orange is the new black - Yes

The good news is that what is available for Thailand streams very nicely in HD with very little delay in start-up because presumably the media is held locally. Changing region via VPN or DNS tricks allows access to the full catalogue, but then you are streaming internationally and quality drops.

  5. Sorry if this has been asked before, but could not find the answer.

I live in Thailand with my Thai wife and we plan to visit the UK to visit my son. As I understand it, my son needs to write a letter confirming that he is providing accommodation, together with documents that proves ownership. My question is, can this letter be printed from a scan; or do we need to supply the original letter?

    Thanks.

has a good supply of dry box's and about 50% cheaper than they sell in Thailand

    I have the AS-31

Taking the AS-31 as an example, shipping costs to Thailand almost double the cost; and then you will pay tax on the total cost including shipping. And if it goes wrong you will have to try and persuade the Thailand agent to handle it....

Cheaper and safer to buy in Thailand. I have bought two from AV camera over the years and they will EMS to your home for a lot less money.

  7. Why waste your time on full frame when bigger is better??! ! !

Now if someone can recommend a good neck strap for this baby I would be very grateful.

Beautiful, would love a camera like that; although it would be a challenge to get an image out of it.

Plenty of medium format options around (120 film); but bigger than that and it gets difficult. I have an 1896 Kodak that takes 101 film; which was phased out more than 50 years ago so I won't be shooting with that.
