Or maybe you missing something?
I'm sure Aussie investors also weren't born yesterday and will have noticed the same discount, so if it was a real opportunity I believe they would now be dumping their Aussie shares, and replacing them with London traded ones.
Since you also say that the price discount is not just for 1 company but at least 2, I can't get rid of the feeling that something is missing.
Its not quite as simple as you imply. If one has an oz trading account with a big 4 bank one can
obviously trade and buy the Uk stock via the trading account. But then you have exchange rate
risk. The value of your portfolio either increases or decreases on a daily basis according to
what happens with the respective exchange rate aud/gbp (and of course what happens daily
with the share price. Its why most aussies don't do it and just trade their oz account at the ASX

I have my own ideas on this subject but thought I would ask what top 3 shares you would buy on the Australian stock exchange in the
event of a significant market crash- in a Covid 19 china virus world.
I believe a market crash will occur once either oz or the states is officially declared to be in a recession or depression (ie depressed gdp growth). Or if an airline or other big business goes bust.
If you have previously traded on ASX please list your top 3 and reasons
thanks

We have a facebook fan page and a google business page for our small business. Pretty basic stuff but our marketing works well.
If I wanted to create a link that the customers can click on detailing our privacy policy... how can I do this with minimal effort and cost. It will just be a page with information how we store their data etc. Thus we are not going to make any money from this page. Its purely just for information.
Can anyone suggest the best option for me to achieve this?
thanks

We had old electrical wiring removed on the 2 upper floors of our building. Last week an electrician installed new wiring on the floor below the top floor. Its all new and working well. Lights and all plugs working. But now we decide to use another electrician for the top floor next week bc the previous guy is so expensive.
I can't see in his quote where he will connect the electric box from the top floor to the one below that's just been done. I purchased a new small 8 breaker switch box with RCD safety (for the top floor bc the existing one is so old) and he said he would take out the old one and install this new one for me. Obviously I think that all aircons and lights (wiring) will hook up to this new box on the top floor. Am I right in saying that this new box on the top floor will connect with the elec box on the floor below that has just been done? if this is the case I didn't ask him if he will be replacing that old wiring connecting the 2 boxes on the respective floors. Should I be asking for this? It seems a bit daft to be putting in all new wiring and lights and then not replace the wiring connecting the actual elec boxes? Is this correct?
Im a bit confused about how it all works as you can see but I assume all boxes are connected together from the top level box down to the one on the ground floor and then to the earth grounding rod outside. Is this correct? Thus for example if there is a critical incident on the top floor then breaker system should activate and the earth grounding rod outside should be effective? Is this how it works?

How hard is it to drive from pattaya to the big swampie airport in bkk? How long does it take? Is short term parking easy? I have to get a refund on a ticket and its impossible to get through on the phone.
If Im driving up from beach road area and drive past the bus station on the left to that T intersection... is it a right or left. If I turn right there and then a quick left on that motorway.... does that lead to the airport?
I don't have a mobile phone. don't believe in that radiation

The stretch of road in between Rayong and Pattaya has been going on a long time - estimating 2 yrs. Perhaps some local lads can confirm?
When I take that route I don't see many workers on site. In comparison the local HomePro has hundreds standing around doing sweet FA. Cant some of these workers be recruited for the roads?
Whats the estimated date of completion for that road?
thanks

It is probably worth pointing out that, because you evidenced your role as sponsor, the monthly salary for your wife was superfluous; I would suggest it's best purpose was supporting evidence for the business for reasons to return to Thailand.
It should be noted that VfS do not decide what documents are scanned, they are only handing agents for UKVI. The applicant must decide what documents they want to supply and present them with the downloaded bar code separators.
I imagine that your wife's application was successful because she supplied evidence to show"-
Genuineness of relationship/reasons to visit (your marriage and visit to see family)
Financial adequacy (your sponsorship)
Reasons to return to Thailand (her business and assets in Thailand)
thanks for your reply. Are you saying that if Im her sponsor and show large bank balance then she doesn't have to provide bank account details?
We can provide a translated copy of our business license and rental agreement thus proving our return to thailand is expected.
can you clarify what you mean by the bar code separators. I dont understand this?
thanks

My wife is self employed and successfully applied for a visitor visa for UK last year.
She wrote a letter from herself explaining that she was self employed and that she had to return to Thailand in order to run her business. She provided bank statements showing a monthly salary but they were not scanned by VFS. It seems they were not interested.
I provided a separate letter with my UK bank statement to show that I was her sponsor and my parents supplied a letter to say that we would be staying with them.
As I said at the top of my post, this resulted in a successful application.
thanks for your reply.
I will prepare the same as you I think and see what they accept or reject for her visit visa

If they live together in Thailand, information showing they own a house together or are both on a rental agreement will help a lot. And that the OP is travelling back to Thailand with his wife at the end of the trip.
The op said she was his 'wife'. Many questions about the information provided by the OP so far. Are they married? Not sure what 'the wife' means. She might be a girlfriend who the OP sees as his wife. How long have they been together? It can make a difference.
we are legally married and thus presume I should give a translated copy of my marriage certificate?

The OP hasn't specifically stated that it is a visit visa his wife wants to apply for. Can GHworker2010 confirm please?
yes its just a visit visa

Re the bank statement requirement, are they as strict as thai immigration where one has to show a transaction on the day of applying. Or just a week before showing the balance?
It also says 'Additional information'.... evidence of family members remaining in your home country whilst you travel'
what is one supposed to provide here?
thanks

I will take 'the wife' to 'Great Britain' in 3 months. She is self employed with our business.
I put the yearly earnings when filling out the forms online and everything else on both the ukgov website and VFS. At the end the system generated a 'Document checklist'. The main page just says she only needs to take copy of passport. The page after that lists, info about our visit, current employment, money etc
Do we have to provide all that extra stuff? Do we take it along and then let them decide what they want to scan?
If we are self employed do should we have our license translated into English as proof.
I read messages from other members on this forum. Some of them implied vfs don't what to see flight details, bank statements etc. Can anyone clarify
thanks kindly

An update on what happened..... we called the police office and they said pay it at the post office. Then we posted receipt and self address envelope to them. haven't got it back yet!

If I want to buy a real pair of rayban sunnies where should I go.
In places like 'Central festival' can I presume higher prices bc they have huge rents to pay?
In Robinsons they have the smaller sunglass shops. Are they real or from China?
Any problem with fakes in either of these 2 options?
thanks

Theres an interesting video link below where this Brit mentions buying bonds is a good idea.
Towards the end of the interview he gives his reasons why there could be another global recession.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gks7AM9fXjI
At 44min 25sec he says that he thinks everyone should own bonds and that they will go to zero. He strongly asserts that one should buy bonds and I don’t understand his reasons for this. Are you able to explain why he would suggest that this is a good investment opportunity?

Our youngster put white tape over the province name on the front of our number plate. The wife was driving my car and an aggressive cop asked her to stop. She said the guy was dramatizing the situation- as if she had murdered someone. He took her DL and said she had to take the paperwork to the local police station to pay within 10 days. She was on the way to bkk and now the 10 days has expired.
I don't work and am proposing to drive there using google maps. What is the 10 day limit for? Will they let me pay and collect her DL? I will take a letter from her.
Why is this such an old school country system where one has to front up to some police station in the sticks. Cant they computerize the bloody fines....
Next time does she legally have to hand over her DL? Come to think of it... if she were to download that app and show the DL details on the legal app then this problem is alleviated is it not?
thanks

He is a director of a big village school. She is a teacher at a different village school. They are about to retire.
He will get 40,000 baht a month and she will get 30,000 a month. Both have access to the govt hospital system.
Its not bad money considering the low cost of living where they live.
It seems that any thai who was lucky enough to land in a long term government job has a comfortable life in retirement.
IMHO I speculate that the govt could sack 1/4 of all govt workers across all sectors and still function properly. Its a classic walking into an amphor office, for example, and seeing so many people sitting around with empty desks. I suppose they deserve this pension after spending 30 to 40 yrs with all the same deadbeats. It would drive me nuts to be stuck in a job for life like that. But its just me
cheers

The OP might want to reflect a little further. Squat toilets are actually healthier than seated toilets
yes but let me guess that you don't have a squat toilet... ha ha

We have a small business in Thailand. One of our new workers brings their daughter 8 yrs old to work all the time which is great for my daughter. Yesterday I found out that they have been spending lots of time in our modern toilets bc its so new to her. Apparently they have a cambodian style squat toilet (hole in the ground). The girl has been getting selfies with the toilet in the background.
I feel a bit sorry for them and was thinking of paying for an upgrade at their home.
Anyone ever done this? Total estimate cost? I assume I would first need to see what plumbing is required? Any suggestions are appreciated.

1. Well not too difficult just a lot of toing and froing with paperwork, drawings etc to local gov offices, PEA electric & PWA water supplier.
2. You get a house book for each individual house whether it has deeds, awaiting deeds, leasehold awaiting deeds or leasehold.
3. I take it you don't mean to excavate you want a ( load infill ) by tipper lorry loads.
We used the usual size fly tipper lorries ???? to infill with earth mostly clay they were 300 baht a lorry tip and we counted 70 loads can't be sure of area covered as we were leveling out the undulated land area.
For gravel stone I think they were 700 baht a tip but don't hold me to that.
Just to add we didn't need or use any lawyers it can all be carried out with just toing and froing with our local gov office.
Hope that's of some help.
Thanks for your reply. So are you saying its possible to split up an existing Chanote at the land office into several separate titles?
-
I found 6 rai for sale which has Chanote title. The vendor has excavated her land next door and intends to build town houses. We've heard that she is in debt and has cash issues. Its stunning land with views of mountains and close to the cbd.
Ive bought and sold several houses back home but never done a development over here.
Questions
1. How difficult is it to split up an existing Chanote into several titles if I want to build town houses and sell them off.
2. If 1 is technically not possible what type of title is granted for individual town houses if a development is successful
3. Anyone have any guesstimates for the average cost per rai to excavate 1 rai with gravel/ soil to raise the levels by at least 1 meter thus ensure its not flood prone- as its been done in the photo.
I intend to go and see the attorney soon but thought I would see if anyone has done it recently and can thus comment
Buying shares in Uk companies. What do you recommend?

In the event of a significant stock market crash in the Uk what shares (equity) would you buy?
Im interested to hear that shares on RBS are down 50%. Whats your take on this company? As this is partially owned by the Uk tax payer
one can assume the govt will never let it go bust. Why is it down 50% and after china virus drama is all over can one expect this stock to pump back up?
Sending money to the Uk to buy shares on current exchange rates seems quite favorable.
Any opinions are appreciated.
