  1. In the event of a significant stock market crash in the Uk what shares (equity) would you buy?

Im interested to hear that shares on RBS are down 50%. Whats your take on this company? As this is partially owned by the Uk tax payer

one can assume the govt will never let it go bust. Why is it down 50% and after china virus drama is all over can one expect this stock to pump back up?

Sending money to the Uk to buy shares on current exchange rates seems quite favorable.

    Any opinions are appreciated.

    Or maybe you missing something?

I'm sure Aussie investors also weren't born yesterday and will have noticed the same discount, so if it was a real opportunity I believe they would now be dumping their Aussie shares, and replacing them with London traded ones.

Since you also say that the price discount is not just for 1 company but at least 2, I can't get rid of the feeling that something is missing.

Its not quite as simple as you imply. If one has an oz trading account with a big 4 bank one can

obviously trade and buy the Uk stock via the trading account. But then you have exchange rate

risk. The value of your portfolio either increases or decreases on a  daily basis according to

what happens with the respective exchange rate aud/gbp (and of course what happens daily

with the share price. Its why most aussies don't do it and just trade their oz account at the ASX

  3. I have my own ideas on this subject but thought I would ask what top 3 shares you would buy on the Australian stock exchange in the

event of a significant market crash- in a Covid 19 china virus world.

I believe a market crash will occur once either oz or the states is officially declared to be in a recession or depression (ie depressed gdp growth). Or if an airline or other big business goes bust.

If you have previously traded on ASX please list your top 3 and reasons

    thanks

  4. We have a facebook fan page and a google business page for our small business. Pretty basic stuff but our marketing works well.

If I wanted to create a link that the customers can click on detailing our privacy policy... how can I do this with minimal effort and cost. It will just be a page with information how we store their data etc. Thus we are not going to make any money from this page. Its purely just for information.

Can anyone suggest the best option for me to achieve this?

    thanks

  5. We had old electrical wiring removed on the 2 upper floors of our building. Last week an electrician installed new wiring on the floor below the top floor. Its all new and working well. Lights and all plugs working. But now we decide to use another electrician for the top floor next week bc the previous guy is so expensive.

I can't see in his quote where he will connect the electric box from the top floor to the one below that's just been done. I purchased a new small 8 breaker switch box with RCD safety (for the top floor bc the existing one is so old) and he said he would take out the old one and install this new one for me. Obviously I think that all aircons and lights (wiring) will hook up to this new box on the top floor. Am I right in saying that this new box on the top floor will connect with the elec box on the floor below that has just been done? if this is the case I didn't ask him if he will be replacing that old wiring connecting the 2 boxes on the respective floors. Should I be asking for this? It seems a bit daft to be putting in all new wiring and lights and then not replace the wiring connecting the actual elec boxes? Is this correct?

Im a bit confused about how it all works as you can see but I assume all boxes are connected together from the top level box down to the one on the ground floor and then to the earth grounding rod outside. Is this correct? Thus for example if there is a critical incident on the top floor then breaker system should activate and the earth grounding rod outside should be effective? Is this how it works?

    thanks

  6. How hard is it to drive from pattaya to the big swampie airport in bkk? How long does it take? Is short term parking easy? I have to get a refund on a ticket and its impossible to get through on the phone.

If Im driving up from beach road area and drive past the bus station on the left to that T intersection... is it a right or left. If I turn right there and then a quick left on that motorway.... does that lead to the airport?

I don't have a mobile phone. don't believe in that radiation

    thanks

It depends on the details of the main health insurance.

I personally have both because my main policy (1) is inpatient only and (2) has deductible and copays (both by my choice, to decrease premium costs).

As personal accident insurance is quite cheap I took that out so that I have full coverage (up to the maximum) for in & outpt without any deductible (accidents only, of course).

If your main health insurance covers outpatient as well as inpatient with no deductibles or copays then indeed no need for an accident policy (unless you want the disability/death benefit). But that will mean you have a very expensive main  health policy. An inpt only, with deductible, main health insurance policy plus a separate PA policy is a good compromise cost/benefit wise.

But be careful which PA policy you select, many have ridiculously low medical benefit. You want the highest available medical benefit for your age. For people under 65 this will usually be Siam City S1 plan (625 k), for those 65-79 years Bangkok Insurance PA 45+ plan (200 K). 80 years onward the maximum benefit is so low that may not be worth getting.

Do you mind if I ask what does 'deductibles or copays' mean. Im trying to sort a private health insurance for my wife who's aged in her mid 30's.

Can you recommend an international private insurance provider that's governed by western regulation that can be used in Thailand?

    thanks

The message you received relates to an individual seller's shipping restrictions. Plenty of third party sellers on Amazon also decline to ship to Thailand. These policies have nothing to do with Ebay or Amazon being "petty," and they are easy to get around.

Most expats use shipping forwarders like Shipito or Planet Express (my preference), which provide you with a mailing address in the U.S. and then forward your Ebay or Amazon packages to you in Thailand through a provider of your choosing (USPS, UPS, DHL, etc.). By using USPS and declaring a low value, one can usually save a lot on shipping and customs fees.

In short, there is no reason at all for anyone living in Thailand to use Amazon or Ebay direct shipping at all, much less to limit himself to products eligible for such shipping.

can non US citizens use planet express?

If you work for a government university / (probably school too ??), i mean directly employed by them not with agency, you didn't receive any papers, salary slip, except the yearly PND 91. It's have been like that more than 30 years.

Maybe you are too old / techie phobic to know that you can get your payslips online at your govt uni website...

Where I can find a Traveloffice in Chanthaburi for to book flight?
Where I can change Money (Money Changer not Bank)  Euro - THB in Chanthaburi?

Ive never seen a travel office at all in the city. But maybe you can change money at any of the banks at Robinsons.

If you're after a good dentist you can consider Dr. Air Dental who is located close to Chanthaburi. She did 2 veneers for me and I was really happy with the results. A beautiful job indeed. Highly recommend her.

I just complete my visa extension based on marriage today at CW. In addition to the copy of the passport pages and departure card the officer wanted a copy of the 90 day receipt. I just did the 90 day report right before meeting the officer so I had it but not a copy. Luckily, she made a copy for me and used that. I don't remember having to make a copy of the 90 day receipt in previous years but I will make sure I do so in the future.

Also, when I met the second officer, she commented that the bank book did not have all the transactions listed for the past 3 to 4 months. I forgot to update the bank book for the past 6 months but when I did update the bank book it only showed the last 30 days. So now I must remember to constantly update my bank book as to show every months transactions. I did get another statement from the bank that showed the last 6 months but the officer stated that the bank book should be regularly updated. She also wanted every used page of the bank book even if the pages were from before the 3 month period.

thanks for the info. the bank book thing is so stupid. why can't they just accept bank statements like any normal civilized country. ktb bank system sometimes doesn't print individual transactions. it does 1 line covering a month if one forgets to update it. so annoying

If the building is used for private home only, you are Okay – however, check with the landlord first, as you don't own the building, but is just a renter – if you or your wife use the the lease for business, you're not allowed to work on it without a proper Work Permit, which would probably not be as painter, but as supervisor for the employed painter-staff, or manager of the business...?

I asked immigration after showing them our registered lease. He said what are you worried about. I said 'maybe someone call you to say farang is painting without a WP'. He said dont worry about it

You are not even allowed to paint your own house. This is work a Thai could be employed to do. If nobody complains you should be sweet. I don't know if posting it on social media is the smartest move.

you are partaking in bar stool fear talk. Read above. I spoke to immigration. it is not a problem to paint my commercial building.

you comment indicates you have no idea what your talking about.

    cheers

As I didn't get a reply from the OP with my earlier question I will post my thoughts...

If it were painting my wife's house and I was registered there I would do what ever I wanted.

But if it was my wife's business where l was not a director or had a WP to work in that business l would do sod all that "eyes" could see...:stoner:

Why take the risk for a few hundred baht.

    Try 60,000 baht.

Read above. I visited immigration and asked them. they said no issues at all.
