Hi,
I have an extension of stay based on employment in a government school. The expiry date of the visa is 10th June.
If I fly abroad for 2 weeks holiday and return to Thailand 4 days prior to the 10th June will there be issues?
i.e. will the nanny state airline checkin desk look at my Thai visa and stop me from boarding the flight. Or will Thai immigration not like me arriving in Bangkok with only 4 days to go on the visa?
My employer intend to renew my contract as soon as I get back. Or should I try to get this done in early May to avoid any issues?
thanks

Quite right never learn it as they will not understand you most of the time if you tried. I don't want to talk about som tam, lakorn or hear gossip about the neighbors anyway. Just get the basics and forget trying to converse with them, even the natives have trouble with the language at times leave them to it.
I totally agree with this opinion. The less trivial conversations that I have to partake in the better for me.

get the girl at work (as you put it) to do the postal route
I've not heard of this. How does this work?

Close to 3 months ago I had to visit the immigration office to do the 90 day reporting because the system was down. The officer at my work says the site is still under construction. Is this correct? Is it not possible to do online reporting still? Has anybody done this recently?
I worry maybe the girl at work who does this for me is looking at the wrong website?

for 300 baht a month you should try netflix. once you start watching some of their stuff you will never cancel it.
also filmon.com you can get free bbc news etc etc etc.
true needs more people to cut the cord

what a pathetic poll 160 voters. Or is TV going down hill?

change the name of your hotel and start again.

I have the new iphone 7 and want to download a good GPS system. If your based in Thailand and have a good one on your phone can you give me the name?
The one I have in my relatively new pickup is rubbish. It sends me driving the long way round..
thanks

True is rubbish. So many other options:
-download your movies or anything for free
- netflix
-filmon.com for free bbc news and hundreds of other channels for free.
time to cut the cord....

The confusion is that 001 800 656957 is a toll free thai number NOT an american toll free number. <deleted>...
For those who wish to contact Apple Support Thailand call the number 001 800 4412904.
In the days and hours are 9:00 to 18:00 pm. Monday to Friday.

IMO don't bother with cctv. I paid about 15,000 for 4 cameras in Lamphun 3 years ago
I'd have been better off by far putting the money into physical security.
Points against.
unless you can disguise the cameras the bad guys can see them and take precautions, and it's difficult to disguise them satisfactorily.
if the power goes off they don't work, so you'd need to put in a back up.
you need a tv to go with the drive, so add that to the cost, unless you have a tv in the right place.
no matter how good the resolution, and on HD mine are brilliant, it's almost impossible to get a face well enough to be of any use. even a hat makes it impossible.
they don't stop you getting murdered. I put mine in because of theft, but it was a waste of money, as the 7 foot steel fence and lots of barbed wire has prevented any since. Of course, any fence can be breached, but that would require planning in my case, and most theft is probably spontaneous. It did help that our house didn't look like there was anything worth stealing.
Worth noting- the installers were the usual cowboys that did a shoddy job. It was I that was up in the roof running the coax cable out of sight, and drilling holes in the wall to remove the easily cut cables outside.
I appreciate all the opinions.
What about installing all the cameras inside the house pointing at the main access points. Similar to the one photo of the member above that has a camera pointing at the door on the inside. that way no one knows we have CCTV until when they are trying to gain entry. do you think thats a better idea than having them on the outside?

After reading about the tragic circumstances of farang being murdered recently in their houses (guy in cha am near the dog kennel and guy in Chiang mai who lived alone in his house) I want to install CCTV.
If you have recently purchased and installed a system can you provide details i.e. a spec and costing.
I was in global hardware and they have a set of CCTV for 20,000 baht. The set includes 4 cameras and a box which I assume has the 1TB memory card which I presume is looping for 1 month.
Do all of these systems have access to an app on the smart phone?
If you have recently installed a system what is the resolution of the cameras?
Any info is appreciated.
May the presumably innocent victims mentioned above RIP.

Maybe I can answer my own question. Deep in the apple website is a message if calling from Thailand.... 001800 4412904

Im trying to call the states with skype or line premium and its not working. Im trying to call apple customer services 001-800-65-6957 and its saying the number is invalid. If they dont have the correct number on their website it might explain why its reported in the press that apples profit is down for the first time in 12 yrs. Or is it that skype etc will not accept 800 numbers? How do I call them if this is the case?
thanks

Yesterday I submitted a change in address TM28 form and had a weird experience with the Immigration officer
The guy had a bad attitude towards me and Im sure that he didnt update the address on his computer.
If you have recently submitted a TM28 to immigration did they do the update on the computer in front of you and did you receive a confirmation slip?
If the guy didnt do it and when I next do online reporting is it going to reject and cause me issues? Do I have to go back to Immigration this week to sort out?
thanks

If he doesnt update my address to the new one is this going to cause my next 90 reporting to reject in January?
Can anyone answer the question quoted above?

Last week the international officer at my work tried to submit my 90 day reporting online but it didnt work and she is unsure why. I also moved house and filled out the TM28 and finally the landlord agreed to sign the TM30.
We visited immigration this afternoon and the same old grumpy guy wearing his special uniform was there. He mentioned something about 2000 baht fine but I said it had only been 6 days (supposed to be done on the 11th of oct). I gave him the TM forms and he threw them aside. He quickly printed the 90 day reporting slip of paper and gave it to me. Then he kind of handed back the TM forms to me. I gave them back to him asking if he was going to update the computer. A few grunts later he put it asidie.
If he doesnt update my address to the new one is this going to cause my next 90 reporting to reject in January?
thanks

I had a heavy stainless steel frying pan from France that has recently perished. I would like to buy a new quality pan that is not going to give me cancer.
Are the non stick varieties bad for ones health?
What is the safest pan to buy and where can I buy it in Bangas (bkk).
thanks
