  1. On a similar note in my area there was this little scrote who kept breaking in to our neighbors toy shop and stealing their stuff, anyway the other night he got it wrong and got electrocuted. So guess what? His mother is claiming 100.000 baht from the shop owner in compensation! Isn't it strange how mercenary they are to the point of utter annoyance. Even when they are so clearly wrong.

I wouldn't give the dog owner anything she hasn't cared before and merely sees this as a quick opportunity to make some fast cash, they have no shame about this type of behavior.

  2. Sabian,

It's been a while, but the last time I visited the British embassy the consular staff I spoke to were all British; though they do employ Thai clerical staff.

The security are retired Ghurkhas, men who may be foreign but have served this country very well in two world wars and many other campaigns and who continue to do so today.

It is not the embassy's job to advice you on your welfare rights in the UK nor on UK education.

In fact I just contacted the embassy and yes they can give help on this and told me where I could find the relevant info. This was my point, I never got this info when asking in Bkk.

    Dear ,

    Many thanks for your email.

For questions about international pensions, it's best if you contact my colleagues in the International Pension Centre. You'll find their contact details on the page below:

    https://www.gov.uk/state-pension-if-you-retire-abroad/how-to-claim

For questions relating to military pension, please contact the MOD on the link below:

I hope this helps, and thanks once again for getting in touch.

    Best wishes

  3. Sabian,

It's been a while, but the last time I visited the British embassy the consular staff I spoke to were all British; though they do employ Thai clerical staff.

The security are retired Ghurkhas, men who may be foreign but have served this country very well in two world wars and many other campaigns and who continue to do so today.

Well there is one retired Gurkha, but the rest of the security is clearly not. Also if I have a pension from the UK especially a military pension I should be able to talk with someone who understands the system, that is welfare which they clearly do not understand. It is also my right to receive such information if I require it and know about Gurkha's I spent enough time with them, at least enough to have the respect to spell their name right!

  4. Is it the British Embassy? Just that I've never seen anyone in there I could recognize as British, except when their coming back from lunch. I've got stuff done in there but my god isn't it hard to explain sometimes what is required, I've lost count how many times I've seen people losing it in there because the assistants simply don't understand what they are asking and it's not the language but the basic knowledge of how our systems operate, for example our welfare, and education system. The assistants are always pleasant but shouldn't we be able to speak to someone who understand our problems from coming from that grounding themselves? It seems the only thing British is the sign going in, even the security it foreign.

  5. I got hot 2 weeks ago when out on a drive by a pissed up Thai guy, I saw him 500 mtr away on the wrong side of the road coming towards me, swerving all over the place, didn't slow down, so I stopped so he could avoid me. Nope straight into me at 50kph. Broke my arm in 5 places, he just went into a patch of grass, and fell asleep until the Police turned up. Unreal. Thankfully the Police pinned the blame 100% on him and he's got to pay.

  6. Would love to head to a bike show and see what's available in the LoS. Anyone know if there is one coming up in the next few months?

Yea I've been looking around too online, it really seems to be a bit quiet this year except for the major ones. Also this is the time they usually tend to dry up anyway because of the weather, but if you hear of any let me know, I'm always up for a ride somewhere. Looking to go to Laos or Cambodia sometime on a longer run. Which should be interesting.

  7. Well I found and went to the Saraburi Bike show, it was just on the edge of the town, very easy to find but impossible to find on the web. However with all that said it was one of the best shows I've been too! Well organised and a lot of people which was suprising considering no promotion of the event! However I was amoungst 1 of the 2 only foreigners there! The other being my Dutch biker mate. So if I hear about it again next year I will post where it is so everyone can come along.

  8. I bought the 1250 recently in Bkk in the Gadget shop, I use it on my motorbike and so far it's been really good, fast and accurate, the software is the same as the others it just has less features, for example "bluetooth" etc. However I have mounted it on a holding device and arm I also bought from the shop and it does a really good job.

  9. Anyone know the location of the Nonthaburi Bike week? I'm doing a circuit and including it in my travel plan. I've got two different locations within the city. There are links in Thai on the web but I've not really found them that helpful so far. GPS Coords would be cool!
