The Chiang Mai Admin Court is located right behind the District offices within the same compound, so im hoping the fact that the clerk created a doc summarizing Testator, Beneficiary, both Witnesses that was signed by the witnesses and myself, the testator, will help speed up whatever will make the will valid, hence, making the overall charade worthwhile. Thanks for your input. Im curious how you became so knowledgeable in this matter? do you happen to practice Thai law or work in this field of law?

Is there an office that you would recommend to register will? I am just trying to validate authenticity of the will for the sake of my Executor.

FYI to all---I finally was able to register my Will with the Amphoe in Chiang Mai and everything about the process seemed awkward. I went alone on my first visit and they insisted that my two witnesses needed to be present for them to register the will. So i returned with my 2 witnesses. The clerk insisted that i give her the original Will in a sealed envelope because she could not look at the Will's contents. Then she used my copy of the original will to create documents acknowledging my beneficiary and witnesses, which the witnesses then had to sign. She studied the contents of the copy but could not look at the original??? I am a single farung and my will leaves everything to another single farung, which at first, the clerk said could not be done. Then she asked some other clerks and they said ok. Next, i had to meet with some lady who asked me a lot of questions about my life and wanted to know about my relationship with my witnesses. How we know each other etc. It was very bizarre. I felt like i needed to pass an interview to register my will. WTF?? Now after readiing comments made above, from LiverPool Lou, i wonder if this charade was even necessary or in any way productive.

Thanks for the input from all. Yesterday, I took my will, with witness signatures and copies of signed ID cards to the Amphur office in Chiang Mai. They politely informed me that both Witnesses need to be present, to have a will registered with the Amphur's office...Uhhh! Would a will be considered invalid if not registered? and Would this mean all money kept in Thai bank accounts could be kept by the bank if i die? The only reason I care about a Thai will is so the bank cannot keep my money, if i stop a truck. I would much rather go through this headache of preparing a will that instructs the money goes to a friend verses letting the bank keep it.

You did not read my entire post.....Im trying to get detailed records for MY OWN account not someone elses.....the bank will only go back 4 years, longer and they require a fricken police report, but the police will not give a report unless you have a court order. WTF? i want to resolve matters without going to fricken court!

Does anyone know, FOR SURE, how to properly "finalize" a DIY Will in Thailand? I am told by lawyers that wills are not filed or recorded with Courts in Thailand and I understand that a Will needs only 2 witness signatures, of the Testator's signature to be valid..... but, for example, If the will is 7 pages and page 7 is for Testator and witness signatures, what could prevent an executor from changing anything in pages 1-6? What puts the Will "in stone" or keeps it Final, once signed and witnessed? is Notarising the will a proper solution? If so, can this be done after the Witnesses have signed? Thanks!

Austin, you are creating a lot of story from my post. You are concluding things that i never posted. You might want to examine this behavior, as it may be causing a lot of frustration in your life. To set the record straight, I paid every one of her expenses for 11 years, plus i paid for everything that we did together. She had a Fat job, making Fat money. She spent all of the money she earned and some on a business that i loaned her alot of money over 4 years, to create and build, so she could quit her job. The business is doing very well. Bottom line, She brought another man onto the scene and told me to go. She is threatening me legally, so I am just trying to assert where i stand on money that is in my thai account, that she has never had any part of. Im not trying to rip her off!!! I lived with my Thai partner 11 years after a big wedding, that created a marriage which was never legally registered. The lawyers all say that we would be viewed as a "Life partners" and all assets accumulated, while together, would be split 50/50 in a Thai Court. Would this 50% include money that i brought into Thailand, from another country, during our 11 years together? This money is not "earned income" from Thailand, so I would expect it would NOT be viewed as money that was contributed to the relationship. I am seeking clarity on how would this money, that is parked in a Thai bank account be viewed in the 50/50 scenario? Would she be entitled to 50%? if so, why? Please only comment if you have experience or knowledge of this 50/50 matter. PLease no assumptions, thoughts or opinions. Thanks!

Has anyone ever tried to obtain an X's bank statements in Thailand, for a legal dispute? Is it even possible w a court order? For my personal account, Kasikorn bank is demanding that i obtain a police report, before they will provide detailed statements over 4 years old.... a police report for my own records!!! I cannot imagine how hard it will be to get another persons records. Lawyers say they can get these records with a court order but I question how true this is. Has anyone successfully been able to get bank records of another in Thailand, via court order? Thanks!

10 years ago a Thai lawyer, that I can unfortunately not locate today, told me the following in an email: "If a Buddhist wedding ceremony takes place with photos to document it, then the Supreme Court has split the assets based on a “Life Partnership” arrangement. This was when there were wedding pictures and the couple was known as husband and wife but never registered the marriage. According to the Thai law, the Thai authorities will sometimes recognize a relationship as a “Life Partnership”, not a marriage, which can allow a partner to claim 50% of the assets derived during the relationship." Does anyone know of or have experience about this? and or, can anyone recommend a lawyer that can clarify this for me. So what is really going on? Could it be that all these places are purchasing Lo THC CBD buds to resell? Im not accusing, i just don't understand this at all. Its gonna be interesting to see how many people respond to this thread equally disappointed about the lack of Buzz. I find the entire ordeal to be quite bizarre.......Legal? not Legal? who cares, if it doesn't get you high anyway?! Hopefully enough people will speak up and shops will offer money back guarantee's.....why not? who would want to return for money back if the weed was really good?

Yeah but who is really measuring the THC in the buds being sold? The label may say 24% THC but come on...... I asked one shop, "how do you know the THC level"? He said, "oh, you can just go online and look up the strain". I believe what is being sold in most shops is VERY LOW THC/CBD flower (and the public is getting taken for a big ride)........at least that has been my experience from multiple disappointing purchases.
