When the first response to a thread is this, I rest my case that this forum is going to the dogs.
It went a long time ago

Oh man....considering all those who gamble anyhow, make the issue legal, impose good tax on the Monaco or Macau style casinos that could be developped, and move on.
Yeah this is Thailand, what could go wrong?😆.We were told in Oz when the casinos were legalised "NO way" could organised crime get in Australia. 😂How did that work out?[ Hint ,not so good]

I remember there was a "crackdown" under Taksin too. Another great success. A little Thai resturant I used to go to had a pseudo musket hanging on the wall completely useless fake but they confiscated it anyway.????

OK, but if the gov't is serious they can and must find a way.
If caught with an unlicensed gun 30 days mandatory jail might help, but of course that depends on 'who' is involved in the process.
But there's always more than one way to skin a cat.
You do realize this is Thailand ? How's the mandatory helmet law working ?

How about a transparent democratically elected government that would take the issues of corruption and injustice out of the equation so that tourists would feel they were not just cash cows for Thai economics.
All the best and good luck with that????

Speculation . How do they know how many guns? The Phillipines has many illegal firearms .There are "cottage industries" making black market handguns there, but they say Thailand has the most? So have been talking lessons on numbers from TAT ? Australia has had strict gun laws from 1996 and earlier than that for handguns but the crims have no problem obtaining them.If I remember correctly the cops "guesstimate" there's 250,000 illegal weapons there.
