As very good fit for the oppressive and a sadistic army here. Hun Sen himself was the mafia in Cambodia. He was a money grubbing, power hungry, land grabbing multi billionaire, who stopped at nothing to maintain his power, and amass more fortune. In addition, his resume includes many years as a commander in the Kymer Rouge, where he engaged in serial killing. Quite a leader. He is getting old, and is paranoid. His personal security detail numbered over 5,000 men. There are countless people who want him dead. He corned the media and silenced his critics just like the Thai army does. The real scandal, is why all the western power are complicit in his crimes, and have always supported his brand of fake democracy? Where is the condemnation? Where are the sanctions? Where is the UN in all of this?
Now, he has passed the baton to his son with a fake election. Another despot ruler. What can one say?
I remember Little Johnny Howard at an Asean or Apec or some other junket meeting in Vientiane years ago holding hands for a group photo wearing some colourful matching shirts with all these despots and dictators ,and thinking it shows what high principles we have.As Groucho said "These are my principles.and if you don't like these ,I have others"

"Nevertheless, the deposed prime minister had preferred to leave the hospital upon his release on parole" 😂
Degenerative neck bones kept him in hospital for months? Well Trump's "heel spurs" kept him out of the draft so why not ?🤣

They don't care. The people who run this country really DON'T care.
Watch George Carlin "who controls America" and substitute Thailand or any other country you like actually.

Not a British person in sight, and look at the mayhem caused by those terrible Japanese.
I say we ban them all, after tar and feathering them as per the wishes of some AN members.
I mean, why don't they do mental health checks on ALL Japanese before allowing them to travel to wonderful Thailand?
She was raised in Britain and British educated . [ROTFLOL that's a joke son,a joke]

What Thais fighting over money, gold and an inheritance, I never, really! Who'd have thought?
Thailand one big soap opera of false smiles, greed and avarice washed down with a nod, (and a Yai), to Buddha for redemption.
I agree but to be fair there are more disputes, fights, falling outs, court cases, violence etc etc over wills and inheritances than just about any other reason worldwide.

In the 80's living and working in Germany for decades, never observed the same.
Back in the mid seventies I was having coffee at Lubeck railway station at about 8.00am .A carpenter walked in clean overalls and tool bag on his way to work I presume, put his bag down had a large beer. picked up his bag and continued on his way.

I find everywhere boring after a while, but some of us older folks like to stay home, and are quite content with our own company. I have friends close by but we rarely visit each other, we have our own homes to care for, & we are not bar flies.
That's why even after 20 years I split my time between Australia and here. When I get bored there,I come here and vice versa

Similarly, my Thai sister-in-law is in Sydney picking vegetables. She is paid $180 per day (4,000 Baht) per day, cash in hand. It is hard work, but she is a farmer from Isan and can manage. She recently met and will marry an Australian bloke.
I always tell Thai ladies looking for foreigners, do whatever you can to work in a foreign/western country. It is much easier to meet/marry someone once you are in that country, compared to Thailand.
Quite a few Australian farmers have been caught exploiting foreign workers too.I'm not saying it's all bad but they should be careful if they can

Here's the thing with Thai, that is more than 50% owned by the government, (the Thai people) if they go tits up like last
time, they will be bailed out by the government, so by all means, order billions of baht in new planes, and hope for the best...
Yeah I phoned the Melbourne office after they closed the Brisbane office while they were "restructuring" and mentioned the Bankrupt word. "Thai is NOT bankrupt ! " the girl told me.Why have they kept my 2.5k for three years then I asked? They lost me over the refund that took me more than three years to get back . Still no Brisbane flights and high prices.I used them all the time before the "restructure"LOL

Thailand in general is feeling a bit funky. I could just be tired of it after 10 years off and on, but it has a funk that it did not have before. Could be that I'm in Pattaya but I'm not 100 % sure if that's it or not. I can't think of specific reasons, it's just a feeling.
I agree after 20 yrs visiting it's not the place it once was. Then I guess nowhere is.
